YouTube has agreed to pay $24.5 million to settle a lawsuit involving the suspension of President Donald Trump's account following the U.S. Capitol riots on Jan. 6, 2021. Trump sued YouTube, Facebook and Twitter in mid-2021, after the companies suspended his accounts on their platforms over concerns related to the incitement of violence. Breaking: Senate Democrats Vote to Shut
Down the Federal Government

Senate Democrats have blocked a Republican bill that would have extended federal funding for seven weeks, with the final tally coming in at 55-45, short of the 60 votes needed to break the filibuster. This puts the government on a fast track toward its first shutdown in nearly seven years, all because Democrats decided now was the time to dig in their heels. The Republican bill was straightforward, a clean funding extension that should have sailed through without drama. But Democrats refused to play ball unless Republicans agreed to negotiate on extending Obamacare subsidies and other Democratic priorities.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gathered hundreds of the nation’s top military leaders in Quantico, Virginia Tuesday morning to lay out his vision for restoring the military’s “warrior ethos” by rolling back the left-wing indoctrination that’s taken hold at the Pentagon in recent years. Warning the assembled generals to “do the honorable thing and resign” if they rejected his message, Hegseth called out the leaders for allowing physical fitness standards to slide while diverting valuable time and resources towards politically fashionable causes related to race, gender, and the environment.

Over the weekend, the Wall Street Journal offered a deeply reported analysis of the young socialists who are fueling the Democratic Party’s lurch to the left in the past years, tracing it back to economic anxieties of the Great Recession. There’s an eye-opening description of a meeting of communists in Philadelphia: On a recent evening, 15 comrades from the Northwest Philadelphia cell of the Revolutionary Communists of America gathered for their weekly meeting in a classroom at Thomas Jefferson University.

As we've talked about before, the August murder of 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on Charlotte's light rail system, allegedly at the hands of a violent repeat offender, has created a ripple effect at all levels of government amid President Trump's national crackdown on crime. Republicans in the U.S. House and Senate, for instance, have introduced legislation dealing with, among other things, strengthening transit crime reporting and oversight. And on Monday, the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight held a field hearing at a Charlotte courthouse to talk about victims of crime, to hear stories from their families, and to advocate

United States President Donald Trump has proposed a 20-point peace plan to end the war in Gaza after holding talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who welcomed the proposal. The new proposal, which calls for the disarmament of Hamas, has been welcomed by the Palestinian Authority (PA), which governs in the occupied West Bank, along with some regional Arab countries. Hamas says that it is studying the US proposal “in good faith”, while the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) group says that the plan is a “recipe to blow up the region”. Below are the reactions from regional and Western countries.

President Donald Trump on Monday fast-tracked his administration's efforts to secure peace in Gaza, rolling out a detailed vision for a U.S.-backed ceasefire that the White House says will bring the war to an immediate end. He said Israel has accepted the proposal but the success of the plan still hinges on the cooperation of Hamas. "We're at a minimum, very, very close," Trump said during a news conference alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. Speaking alongside the president, Netanyahu appeared to sign off on the proposal. "I believe that today we're taking a critical step towards both ending the war in Gaza and setting the stage

The Republic of Ireland will offer families of supposed asylum seekers up to €10,000 to drop their claims and voluntarily leave the country, in an apparent admission that the government’s open borders policies have gone too far. Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan has signed an order to increase the voluntary return grant for alleged asylum seekers, increasing the payout to €2,500 ($2,900) for individuals or €10,000 ($11,700) for families who willingly drop their asylum claims and leave the country, The Irish Times reports. This is nearly double the previous payouts, which stood at €1,500 ($1,800) per person or €6,000 ($7,000) per family, prior to the order from Minister O’Callaghan.

On Tuesday, more than 100,000 federal workers are expected to walk out the door through a deferred resignation program, marking the largest single-year reduction in the civilian federal workforce since World War II. Factor in layoffs, buyouts, early retirements, and natural attrition, and the government could shed roughly 275,000 employees by the end of 2025.
