When Burton City Council candidate Kris Johns heard that someone shot churchgoers and burned down the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Sept. 28 in nearby Grand Blanc, he said not once did he think it was the man he spoke to while canvassing less than a week prior who went on a tirade against the church and described Mormons as "the antichrist." The man was outgoing, polite, and "extremely friendly," Johns said. And his animosity toward the church didn't seem violent, he said — “it was very much standard anti-LDS talking points that you would find on YouTube, TikTok, Facebook.”

So, the only possible conclusion is that.....It's Trump's fault. Right? /s off I have nothing bad to say about Mormons of modern times, and I attended a two week computer graphics training course in the early 1980s at Brigham Young University. I saw nothing there but bright, clean cut, pleasant and smart folks. There was some very ugly stuff done by Mormons in the 1880s, IIRC, one raid on a wagon train where they wiped out the adults, kept some of the children. It's called, I believe, the Mountain Meadows Massacre. I never understood that, it was so seemingly out of character. That was a very long time ago. I've had a few LDS members as co-workers, nothing at all negative to say about them.

My experience too, #1. I stayed with a Mormon family once on a business trip to Utah and they had two teens, a boy and a girl. They were the most polite, well behaved and clean cut teens I think that I’ve seen since the 1950s. This shooter supposedly had anti-Trump signs on the fence around his home. But it will still be Trump’s fault.

The killer was MAGA. But he was also a Mormon-hater. There are "pastors" who repeatedly preach that Mormons are a "demonic cult." This guy seems to have believed something like that.

#1 and #2, my neighbors up the street are LDS. Next to my Jewish next-door neighbors, they are both golden. I would trust them all with my wealth. We get their LDS kids coming up to the front door often asking if we'd like to hear their story - sometimes in horrid nighttime weather. We never refuse and let them come in. But I always tell them, thanks but no thanks, we are right with God but from a different direction - I was confirmed in the Lutheran church, Missouri Synod, in Illinois. My wife, in Colorado. I'm still at a loss for words as to what brings anyone to arm himself/herself/itself for the sole purpose of murdering some people. Demonization? My wife and I never scold anyone for their beliefs, and we don't push ours on others. When my wife and I got married (50 years ago now as of August 17th), I chose my college roommate, a devout Mormon, as my best man and his wife was my wife's Maid of Honor. We still keep in touch to this day and remain close to each other. The gay guy, that's right, a gay guy, I used to sit with on the bus while riding into Denver when I had my corporate job was about as left as I was to the right. We understood each other politically, usually complained about the same things, but had a lot of laughs together over those years. These days, I can only suggest this week's teachings from Jonathan Cahn. I don't know how else to understand what is happening. My evangelical friend from my employer before I retired (we formed a two-person investment group a few years ago), tries to help me understand. Any thoughts. I can send a link if you want.

eichigan voters don't register by party. No record of his having voted. I wonder if he went to Mormon church for assistance with medical expenses for their very ill ten year old son, born prematurely with a very rare hyperinsulin condition that can cause brain damage and they turned him down because he wasn't Mormon?

On Tuesday, more than 100,000 federal workers are expected to walk out the door through a deferred resignation program, marking the largest single-year reduction in the civilian federal workforce since World War II. Factor in layoffs, buyouts, early retirements, and natural attrition, and the government could shed roughly 275,000 employees by the end of 2025.
