Ben Shapiro and Bill Maher sparred over morality and the Bible on "Real Time with Bill Maher: Overtime" Friday, and the conservative Orthodox Jewish commentator received an unexpected reaction from the liberal comedian’s Los Angeles audience. Maher, the star of the anti-religion documentary "Religulous" and a well-known atheist, said the Bible contains "nonsense" and "wickedness." "If God wrote the book, how could there be ‘things we don’t agree with?’

Why would Bill Maher (atheist) and Ben Shapiro (Orthodox Jew) discuss the Bible? Even more illogical, why would anyone watch/listen/read what they had to say?

I love Shapiro's paraphrasing the old criticism of 'W' Bush, 'He was born on third base, and thought he hit a triple'. Shapiro's argument asking, 'From where do you think the foundations of your morality arise?' He is correct - Judeo Christianity's Bible.

Fact: Maher admits that he is more of an agnostic, unsure of whether God exists, but very critical of what he calls "organized religion." Look it up.

Hey Bill, who holds atheism as the "State Religion?" And what great country, that you would live in without hesitation, has at its core, atheism? What Protestant Christian nation has a murder record of its own population comparable to that of the Soviet Union, China, Cambodia, etc.? Are you getting the point here?

Talking to Bill Maher is as useless as talking underwater to a fish. His IQ is insufficient to handle complex conversations about life, death, freedom and religion.

#1 Well, Shapiro is a smart guy. Charlie Kirk's last podcast features Shapiro. It was very interesting. Also, I don't know about your Bible, but my Bible was pretty much exclusively written by Jewish people. It notably is largely about Jewish people. So they are certainly worth listening to. Now, Maher, a lapsed Catholic, I tend to agree he doesn't have much to offer. But his was the argument position of a lapsed person, so he, too, has a viewpoint (while I disagree with him) we need to understand.

Re #1 and #7, interesting discussion. "According to AI" the first five books of the Old Testament are literally the Torah and the remaining books of the Old Testament are Jewish texts considered by the compilers of the Bible as leading up to the Christian revelation described in the New Testament.

"If God wrote the book how can there be things we disagree with?" What a stupid question! Because God is omniscient and we are fallen, sinful human beings who most often want to believe the lies of the devil rather than the truth of God'swords.

Additionally, all books of the New Testament, with the exceptions of Luke and Acts, were written by Jews.

#8: Your AI source must have been informed by a believer, as it's on target. In Shapiro's case, it's pretty obvious from his remedial education for Jews about Hanukkah (see 1 and 2 Maccabees) that he's read all of the Old Testament, which is basically Jewish history up to Jesus' birth. Sad that too many contemporary Jews only know the first five books. Though Shapiro may not view Jesus as the Messiah, it would also not surprise me to learn he's also read the New Testament as well.

Charlie Kirk’s killer was not a lone wolf. He was part of a pack. He evolved from a toxic left-wing ecosystem that has produced a series of violent attacks in our nation in recent years. That ecosystem has a lot of players that stoke the destruction. It starts with socialism itself. That ideology has always been based in emotion and perceived victimhood. These days they have converted our sacrosanct free speech rights into a concept called “hate speech.”

That includes overseeing satellites and networks that provide missile warnings, communications and in-space surveillance, while also tracking orbital debris and potential threats to US and allied spacecraft.

“War is thus an act of force to compel our enemy to do our will.” — Carl von Clausewitz. War is not chaos. It is the deliberate application of force in pursuit of political objectives. Every modern conflict must be judged according to those objectives. In the 12-day war between Israel and Iran, three major actors pursued distinct goals: Israel, Iran, and the United States. Based on what can be objectively and openly assessed, Israel and the United States achieved overwhelming success at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels. Iran, while executing limited retaliation, suffered a decisive defeat.

In the aftermath of the assassination of Charlie Kirk by a violently deranged and hate-filled leftist (yes, that is a confirmed fact), some on the hard Left have been publicly expressing justifications for, and even celebrations of, the murder. These ghouls do not represent America, nor do they represent America's center-left coalition writ large. Many politicians, public figures and private citizens on the 'progressive' end of the spectrum have prominently and unequivocally denounced the killing. This must be acknowledged and embraced with gratitude by all people of good will. The forces of decency must stand together against the cancer of political violence and twisted vigilantism.
