In the aftermath of the assassination of Charlie Kirk by a violently deranged and hate-filled leftist (yes, that is a confirmed fact), some on the hard Left have been publicly expressing justifications for, and even celebrations of, the murder. These ghouls do not represent America, nor do they represent America's center-left coalition writ large. Many politicians, public figures and private citizens on the 'progressive' end of the spectrum have prominently and unequivocally denounced the killing. This must be acknowledged and embraced with gratitude by all people of good will. The forces of decency must stand together against the cancer of political violence and twisted vigilantism.

Private employers have every right to say who works for their company. If they know an employee is behaving in a manner unbefitting of their company image/values, the owners have every right to fire them.

I think it depends on their employer. I definitely think a public/ elected person should be fired.

Anyone who celebrates political murder is not a person one should have on your premises. They are a potential danger if the choose to act on their belief. Just expressing such beliefs shows that they are not a rational person.

Charlie might say no, but the US cannot survive the leftist death culture. And I'm tired of all these politicians essentially saying that both sides do it and can't we all just get along.
Yes, a few right-wing nut jobs do it, but the rest of us on the right are appalled.
On the left, they celebrate violence.
Also, we've been trying to just get along with the leftist nut jobs (but I repeat myself) for decades, and they've only gotten more blatant. It's way past time to stop just getting a long and start holding these nut jobs responsible.
Companies have already seen the power of boycotting and Office Depot took quick and decisive action to excise the cancer who refused to print a flyer for a Charley Kirk vigil. I'm sure that convinced others in that company not to bring their politics to the work place.
I'm also sure that other companies will use Office Depot as a good example of how to deal with leftist loon employees.

I would say No.
If you fired everyone who ever made a stupid comment you wouldn't have many employees.
If these people stopped and thought for a moment before they ran off at the mouth they probably would not have made asses of themselves.
I would think it would make a difference also in what they said, Some just glad to see the rhetoric stop and see the person that was kicking their ass in debates gone. Other who wnat to see wholesale slaughter of all Conservatives.

Maybe it would depend on how 'public' such a figure is and the nature of their job. If a teacher or school official - yes. If some janitorial worker posts their leftward opinion celebrating evil - maybe not. If an elected figure, perhaps their constituents should decide, though there is no voter-driven recall mechanism in the US Constitution for members of Congress - only self-policing censure or expulsion. The President can be removed by the US Senate through the process of impeachment, but I do not think vile speech about a political opponent would rise to the standard of 'high crimes and treason'.

Losing jobs is not enough. They should be made 'unemployable'. Any employer re-hiring them should face the public wrath. Government service is of course out of the question.

The left was fine with those refusing their shots to be fired from hospitals, other employments, and the armed forces. It is time for the left to lose their jobs.

I think they should lose thier jobs. On the day Charlie was assasinated, I was messaging someone at my firm when the news broke. I texted that CK was shot, the response was You support Charlie Kirk? Why? I responded because I support all that is right and decent and just. The comeback was a snippet from Google saying was a controversial figure who was a mysoginist, didn't support women's healthcare. I texted back that Google is biased. A screenshot of Google showing The GULF OF AMERICA then appeared-what that was supposewd to prove I've no idea.. The kicker was a message saying they didn't want to pursue the convo anymore and that they were SORRY FOR MY LOSS. My response was ITS EVERYBODYS LOSS. Whatever respect I had for this person has evaporated.

Perhaps not, however, taking the medical profession-would you completely trust your provider knowing their public proclamations if they found out you were conservative? In the hospitality industry-do you trust your server/cook/owner knowing their public proclamations to not alter or mess with your food? LEO/Fire/Paramedic--accident or willful negligence? Even something like a tattoo artist or other service provider can put an individual or group at risk.

Oh I believe Charlie Kirk, a tireless free speech advocate, would hate people losing their jobs but stand up for the right of a private employer to enforce the values of his/her company.

Democrat representatives are now opposed to military discipline if it means punishment for expressing glee or joy over Charlie Kirk's assassination.
One actually stated that discipline is "un-American."

People who celebrate the assination of a public figure are evil and full of hate. Frankly, I don't want to be around them nor do I want to (1) ride in a plane or bus piloted by one, (2) be on an operating table with one wielding the scalpel or anesthesia, (3) have them around my kids in any capacity, (4) adviseme on my health, (5) clean my house, (6) repairi my cars, or (7) treat my pets. This is by no means an exhaustive list. What assurance do I have that they won't act out on their hatred if they don't like my political views? Evil escalates over time when there are no consequences. They need consequences, and if firing is the consequence, so be it.

Firing people for saying a woman is someone who was born with a womb is weaponizing fantasy-based ideologies.

Employers have every right to set non-negotiable standards for conduct and behavior in the workplace. I'm guessing there will be little disagreement with that. The question then becomes: If an employee expresses an affinity for violence to solve disagreements over political opinions, it is incumbent upon the employer to notice and take action? I say yes, because if they do not, it is not difficult to imagine an open and shut civil suit for negligence on the part of the employer when such an unhinged employee causes violence to be committed in the workplace. This is not a difficult call at all.

For those who are posting glee for Charlie's murder, my heart says yes but my knowledge of the Constitution says no and I believe Charlie would say no. Maybe a one time warning but even that would threaten free speech.
However, I think the law might say something about those who are posting about hope, encouragement, or threats for the assassination or murder of someone.

What happened when people disrespected George Floyd? Although many wouldn't, out of fear for their lives. (I'm sensing a pattern here.) One of the silliest reprisals was when a much-trafficked roadway painted with BLM/Floyd signage became the subject of tire squealings. People went to jail and/or were fined.

1, Charlie might say no but since they murdered him and he's no longer here to speak for himself, I say, yes, every last one of them.
They are evil to the core and mentally ill psychotics as well and need to be purged from the rest of normal society. We can no longer exile people but we can in effect internally exile them for their horrific behavior.

Don't confuse pure hate and advocating lethal violence with free speech. I have NO right to threaten anyone about anything. Every one of these freaks wants harm to come to anyone they don't like. They justify their desire for death to their opponents, by referencing lies from evil, corrupt media. Soros and other enemies of civilized society love these maniacs because if not stopped, they will destroy everything good in the west.
They vandalize our cities, businesses and institutions, either by burning them down or by perverting them. They kill any innocent they know that will horrify every normal, moral person. From children to any adult that isn't ready to defend themselves. They might hold office, have degrees, or are part of the professional class, but they are just as dangerous and vicious as any thug criminal. For my entire lifetime, they have used our tolerance for dissent and argument to sugar coat sedition, anarchy, and targeted violence. EVERY tyranny does this at the beginning.
I don't give a fig about what degree of insanity these creeps have. I don't care if they are lazy and quoting the leftist sewer on the internet, or if they really believe it. It must be stopped. Cold. We, as a society, will not allow every thought to be blasted into soft brains, usually confined to the worst, depraved behavior, but some of them are yelling for outright murder. This is not a match, this is a wildfitre, and it will consume our nation, if we do not confront it. Forcing maniacs to deal with death threats, is mandatory.

Oh, good grief! Why are we even debating such a stupid issue? OF COURSE you have the right to (pretty much) say whatever you want to according to the First Amendment. However, you DON'T have a right to get and/or keep a job no matter what you say. That is and should continue to be at the discretion of the employer.
Why is Guy trying to conflate the two?

The article is a bit long but worth reading. There's a difference between 'cancel culture' and being fired for celebrating a violent death.
Some of these celebrants took the time to type out their deplorable comments and hit the send button. Most have expressed no regret of wishing death on a young man with two small children and a wonderful wife.

Yes, but not as punishment or revenge. It's just so no one should have to rely on the service of someone who so obviously detests them and those with similar beliefs and would be happy to see them dead. I don't want my children being taught or cared for by someone who would be celebrate their death.

These are the new rules that the liberal progressive democrats put into place and have had corporate America enforce since Obama. They are the people that will dig through 30 years of social media posts to find something negative. Dox you, swat you, protest you, complain to your employer, deplatform you, have your bank accounts closed, your social media accounts frozen, demonitized you, protest you in restaurants, assault you etc etc. Remember they managed to get the CEO of Apple canned for saying that he believed that marriage was between a man and woman.
So yeah, they should be fired. They would have you fired in a heartbeat if they could.
And finally, do you want to work with someone who supports and celebrates murdering someone like you, for speaking what you think? Would your coworker cheer if you were capped for your political beliefs?
10 years ago, my answer would have been no. But after what the left did with DEI, Climate Change, transgenderism, Covid etc, etc, They have changed my mind.

There is an existing legal doctrine "Depraved Heart/Depraved indifference" where an accessory before/after the fact can be prosecuted for the murder, even if they did not actively participate....That IS the ground these people are treading into.
Consider it in the same context as "Supporting/cheering/advocating a Lynching"
Sadly, my sister is one...I have avoided even checking a couple of my cousins Fazbuk postings because I'm fairly certain they are as well.
If they advocate the killing of "someone like Charlie, someone like Trump"...they are advocating the killing of ME as well.

since people are ONLY calling for them to lose their "Positions of Public Trust" paychecks...I have no issue, though I do think that Tarring and feathering in a public space (with all natural karo syrup/honey instead of actual hot tar, pitch, or fossil fuels), maybe also accompanied by riding them around on a rail through the town square....perhaps putting some of them in stocks and pelting them with rotten (all organic, GMO Free) produce would/could produce the desired response more thoroughly.
