In the debate over tariffs, Maistros observed, Trump has gotten Democrats to make “an earthshaking, gobsmacking concession to common sense that cries out to be capitalized on.” To wit: that corporate taxes aren’t paid by corporations – they are ultimately passed down to employees and customers in the form of lower wages and higher prices. No matter what you think about Trump’s tariffs, winning this concession from Democrats must be celebrated.

During the Oct. 28, 1980, presidential debate, Ronald Reagan closed by asking Americans if they were better off than they were four years earlier when Jimmy Carter was elected. If we asked that question today and changed the time element to a year, it would be obvious: Yes, we are better off.

In July, inflation came in lower than expected, which “defied fears of further price increases as a result of President Donald Trump’s tariffs.” That’s been happening a lot lately.
So, what’s a Trump–hating news media to do? Admit their fear-mongering was wrong? Or, invent a new term to make even good news sound ominous?
Over the weekend, CNN Business ran a story headlined: “‘Sneakflation’: How Trump’s tariffs are gradually raising costs for American consumers.”
The article admits that “inflation has remained relatively tame” this year. “To this point, consumers have been mostly shielded from starkly higher prices.”
There are two things you can be sure of when it comes to Gavin Newsom. One is that he craves power. Two, he hates his fellow Californians.
OK, the second one might be a stretch. But considering what he’s done to the people of his home state, that’s a fairly reasonable conclusion to draw.
Newsom has been making headlines these days by “getting tough” with President Donald Trump in ways childish (X with posts written in all caps) and politically poisonous (promising to redraw district boundaries to kill off four or five of the state’s nine Republican seats).
With that latter move, Newsom once again shows his disdain for Californians,
Inflation may have moderated, and the economy is showing signs of healthy growth, but the public remains deeply concerned about both, according to the latest I&I/TIPP poll.
The poll found that fully 80% of those surveyed by I&I/TIPP say they are either “very” (45%) or “somewhat” (35%) concerned about inflation. Just 17% say they are not concerned. That’s despite the fact that inflation has averaged just 2.6% this year – which is significantly lower than any year under the Biden administration – and came in lower than expected in July.

The controversial life and shocking death of financial fixer and child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein won a second of round of heavy media coverage after claims were made that Donald Trump knew Epstein. But Americans of all political stripes mostly agree on one thing: Epstein did not commit suicide, but was murdered, according to the latest I&I/TIPP Poll.
The online national poll, taken by 1,362 adults, asked four questions total about Epstein’s controversial life. The poll has a margin of error of +/-2.7 percentage points.
The first, and possibly most controversial, question asked: “Did Jeffrey Epstein die by suicide or was he murdered?”
Earlier this month, Customs and Border Protection recorded fewer than 7,832 illegal border crossings in July. That’s a staggering number when you consider that the 25-year average for that month is 76,000.
Even more staggering is that this should never have happened. At least, not if you believed President Joe “Autopen” Biden.
For four years straight, Biden and his minions told the American public either that the border was secure, or that the problem was impossible to fix due to Republican intransigence, or some combination of the two.
