Robbie Woodland was skeptical of President Trump’s takeover of the District of Columbia until she spotted a patrol firsthand in Southeast.
The lifelong Washingtonian watched as federal agents drove by without performing any jump-outs or other strong-arm police tactics of the sort she feared would target her predominantly Black neighbors living across the Anacostia River, a part of the nation’s capital long associated with high crime.
When she took her focus off the patrol and looked at her surroundings, she noticed that the troublemakers who had become fixtures of her community were nowhere to be found.

That big chip on their shoulder made them put up with a crime filled neighborhood for years. I have lived a long time, in not many different places, but I have never known LEOs to aggravate citizens and make them afraid to go on the street. Have I just led a sheltered life?

I said that when Trump came back from his Middle East tour he’d be angry and sad at what he saw in DC. I’m only surprised it took so long for him to take action.

Its not normal to live where you often see or are victims of crimes but it seems like people in DC and some other cities see and experience it all the time. I'm almost 70 and don't recall ever seeing a violent crime being committed, don't know how people can live that way.

Anacostia in DC has been a very dangerous place since the 1980s. I knew a guy named Dave Henderson who felt a calling from God to start after school programs for the kids in Anacostia with the help of the local police. Dave was stunned at what he found out about the young kids in that area. One example that shocked him was an 8 year old who came up to him with a friend that he was arguing with. They said, "Mr Dave, is OK to shoot someone if he steals your drugs"? After a moment Dave answered, " not only is it not OK to shoot them but you should not have any drugs". The 2 kids were stunned and looked at him like he was from Mars. Another time, he and the local police arranged an after school outing for the kids. He had to search them and take away their guns and weapons before they could get on the bus. These were 12 year olds. Part of my job in sales was to call on a small hospital in Anacostia. One day I was walking from the car to the front door and a young guy came out with about 20 pounds of gold chain around his neck. (think Mr T). I foolishly stared at the chains for a few seconds as he approached where I was walking and realized that he was about to confront me. I smiled and said "Nice day today isn't it"? and kept walking past him at a rapid pace. When I got inside my customer told me that he was a gang member and by looking at him I was challenging him and that he could have killed me or at least attacked me for that. This was in the 80s. I can't believe it's any better now.

It's unfortunate but law enforcement and the resulting punishment of the violaters has been a part of civilization's history for centuries. Everyone has to bear the burden for the roughly five percent (higher in blue-run cities) that violate the rights of their neighbors and take what they want, even kill to get what they want. We all hate the dingaling traffic cop who bothers us with time wasting lectures and levies fines for simple harmless things that break sometimes stupid rules but are glad that we have somebody to call when an idiot teenager goes blasting down the road in front of our home at 100mph. It's all a balance.

FTA: ''...watched as federal agents drove by without performing any jump-outs or other strong-arm police tactics of the sort she feared would target her predominantly Black neighbors...''
Now why would she fear THAT? Could it be that that is what the lying scum democrats and their media mouth-pieces have been screaming out? I'll bet she watches the leftwing so-called ''news'' programs. Maybe a scale or two fell from her eyes.

The residents know the facts. They are pleased that they are safer now.

President Trump is right on the mark...control the streets and the criminals leave town for easier pickings....like New York or Chicago....if mamdani wins the mayor's spot in New York...criminals from all over the country will head to New York...that fabulous town....so not only will they have government controlled housing and food and medical attention...they will be instructed on how America is so bad...and Gaza is soooo good to their people....

It’s not a shocker that the people actually impacted by the DC crime rates have a whole different story to tell than Chuck Schumer.

DC is a federal district. BTW, if DC residents want statehood, they can remove themselves to a nearby state.

DC has been and always will be a Democrat majority city. This woman who was so fearful of the feds jumping her neighbors keeps voting for the same idiots on the city council who passed all the soft on crime laws that hampers the Metropolitan police and the US Attorney. The district attorney is another softie on crime whereby adult men up to the age of 24 are considered juveniles. Having worked in DC for over 25 years, President Trump can't move 90% of the feds out of there fast enough. Once the feds leave and their buildings go vacant, watch DC really shrivel up and the cockroaches start scurrying all over again.

Let's hope the people in DC start to notice thing can be better than what they've been told for so many years.
That they see it's not the Republicans who don't want them to enjoy a safer city but the Democrats they are electing.
Even if it's 5-8%, that's a good start.
