How Bob Woodward Could Have Saved the
‘Washington Post’ from Russiagate Humiliation

It’s understandable, and rational, that the American people don’t trust the media. Time and time again the media have proven themselves to be untrustworthy. Still, I sometimes find myself wondering how different things might have been, how the press could have saved itself, had reporters just been willing to work with honor and walk down the painful road of introspection when they were wrong. That last phrase, “walk down the painful road of introspection,” is not my own. It belongs to Bob Woodward, the “legendary” Washington Post reporter. Woodward became famous for his coverage of Watergate in the 1970s. A lot of conservatives dislike Woodward, and I understand why.

A long-winded article that portrays Woodward and Burnstein as the epitome of crusading reporters, trying to make Watergate a legitimate journalistic endeavor. W&B's big source was an FBI turncoat...nothing ever changes. The same establishment that hated President Nixon is now turning their weapons on President Trump. Perhaps The Donald is Dick's revenging angel. Full Disclosure: During Watergate, I was a flaming, liberal, young woman feminist, and an active Democrat voter. I wallowed in Nixon's downfall, and for many years celebrated the anniversary of his resignation. Today I am filled with regret and remorse at those words and actions.

Woodward was a stinking lump of dog feces back in the Watergate years. It odor has not improved in the intervening years. The more things change, the more they remain the same.

The Sad, Pathetic End of Howard Stern 5 replies

It wasn’t supposed to be like this. A big, explosive controversy that’s impossible to ignore! A jaw-dropping confession that outraged his corporate bosses! Or maybe he’d finally suffer the consequences of speaking “truth to power” — and pay the ultimate price for refusing to back down! That’s how “The Howard Stern Show” was supposed to end. This November marks the 100th anniversary of TS Eliot’s haunting poem, “The Hollow Men.” It’s a telling coincidence, for it foretold not just the fate of the world, but of a certain shock-jock: “This is the way the [Howard Stern Show] ends; Now with a bang but a whimper.” This week, the news broke:
HUGE: Trump Orders a New Census 3 replies

President Donald Trump has directed the Commerce Department to conduct a new census, one that counts citizens of the United States and omits illegal aliens. "I have instructed our Department of Commerce to immediately begin work on a new and highly accurate CENSUS based on modern day facts and figures and, importantly, using the results and information gained from the Presidential Election of 2024. People who are in our Country illegally WILL NOT BE COUNTED IN THE CENSUS. Thank you for your attention to this matter!" Trump posted on Truth Social Thursday. The 2020 Census was alarmingly inaccurate, resulting in faulty congressional representation in Washington D.C.

Britain’s Labour government is in trouble: Its program of massive third-world immigration from places like Pakistan and Somalia is wildly, overwhelmingly unpopular. But that’s not the real problem. The real problem is that despite the best efforts of Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his leftist captive media, Britons themselves have discovered just how unpopular it is. You might think that’s absurd — if mass immigration is unpopular, how can everyone not know it? Everyone doesn’t know it because the government has been policing speech about immigration.
Trump Should Have Fired McEntarfer Long Ago 12 replies

The corporate news media greeted the lackluster jobs report that dropped on August 1 with unabated glee, and savored President Trump’s complaints concerning its accuracy. They were less pleased, however, when he fired Commissioner of Labor Statistics Erika McEntarfer. The coverage of her termination was predictable. CNN, for example, went with the following headline: “Trump fires a senior official over jobs numbers.” In reality, McEntarfer’s termination was long overdue. She was a Biden appointee whose tenure at the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has been characterized by disarray.

Sen. Cory Booker had a meltdown on the Senate floor yesterday, lashing out at his fellow Democrats for agreeing to pass some bills they had all collaborated on with Republicans. Booker is usually a decent speaker but in this case he actually did the thing. He started his speech saying there were things he was "tired of" and then offered a list of Trump's wins against progressive law firms and universities and overpaid TV hosts. It was a full meltdown. Cory Booker is tired of all the winning:

Anyone old enough to have watched the original Star Wars film on the big screen will clearly remember the scene in which Obi-Wan Kenobi advises Luke Skywalker that the Mos Eisley settlement is “a wretched hive of scum and villainy.” According to a new Wall Street Journal poll, this is very much the way most voters view the Democratic Party. Specifically, the survey found that 63 percent of voters hold an unfavorable view of “the Party of Jefferson and Jackson.” Considering the absurd antics to which voters have been subjected by these people, it’s remarkable that their numbers aren’t worse.

The Obama intelligence community’s claim that Russian President Vladimir Putin authorized dirty tricks to try and help Donald Trump win the 2016 election was based on "one scant, unclear and unverifiable fragment of a sentence from one of the substandard [intelligence] reports," according to a just-declassified report that had been locked away in a CIA vault. Nevertheless, former CIA Director John Brennan ordered agency analysts to use the claim in the Intelligence Community Assessment issued during the Obama administration’s final days – even though the ICA itself noted that how the information on Putin's plans was obtained was “not explicitly clear.”

The largest employer in the United States isn't a Fortune 100 company like Alphabet, Amazon or Apple. It's the federal government − and that's a problem. Thankfully, President Donald Trump continues to slash bureaucratic bloat. On July 11, the administration sent layoff notices to more than 1,300 State Department workers, and three days later, the Supreme Court allowed Trump to move forward with plans to gut the Department of Education. That's bad news for government employees, but great for taxpayers, especially given the Education Department's expense − $268 billion in the last fiscal year − and its lack of effectiveness.

Top officials working on an intelligence community analysis about Russia’s interference in the 2016 election were overruled by CIA Director John Brennan, according to records exclusively reviewed by The Federalist. The records are related to ongoing criminal investigations into Brennan and other top intelligence officials for their roles in launching the Russia collusion hoax. The dispute was over the “key judgment” in a January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) that Russia had interfered in the election specifically because Putin and the Russian government “aspired to help President-elect Trump’s election chances.” The senior intelligence officials pointed out the lack of evidence to substantiate

A recent Rasmussen poll revealed that 60 percent of Democrats still believe the debunked claim that President Trump’s campaign colluded with the Russians to win the 2016 election. Can such people be disabused of this delusion by DNI Tulsi Gabbard’s Friday revelation that former President Obama helped launch that hoax in an attempt to undermine the first Trump administration? Not if they still listen to the legacy media. Gabbard has the receipts and plans a criminal referral to the Department of Justice, yet the news outlets that peddled the Russia collusion hoax dismiss her charges.

It is no longer debatable that President Trump’s second term is remarkable for its historic and rapid accomplishments. During the first six months of 2025, he has secured the southern border, brought prices down on energy and food, begun deporting violent illegal immigrants, used tariffs to produce the first monthly budget surplus the nation has seen in years, made his 2017 tax cut permanent by signing the “Big Beautiful Bill” into law, ad infinitum. There’s little reason to expect this momentum to slow down in the rest of Trump’s term unless the Democrats win the House of Representatives in 2026.

Australia’s state of Victoria on Thursday announced that more than 40 machete disposal bins will be available at police stations across the state to allow citizens to safely get rid of the weapons without a penalty before the Sept. 1 ban begins. "Owning, carrying, using, buying, or selling a machete without a valid exemption or approval will be a criminal offense," the Victorian government said in a statement. The government is running a "Machete Amnesty" period from Sept. 1 to Nov. 30 to support the safe disposal

On Tuesday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maryland, hardly a bastion of right-wing activism, revealed it is actively pursuing Schiff for alleged mortgage fraud. This isn’t some garden-variety political dustup—Schiff faces accusations that he repeatedly lied about his primary residence on federally backed mortgage applications spanning over a decade, from 2009 through 2020. While representing California in Congress, Schiff allegedly listed a Maryland property as his primary address to secure.
