Ken Paxton, the Texas attorney general and GOP U.S. Senate candidate who has been embroiled in a series of controversies in recent years, confirmed that he and his wife, Texas state Sen. Angela Paxton, are divorcing. Angela Paxton, a Republican who represents the state's 8th senate district, announced the news on X July 10. "Today, after 38 years of marriage, I filed for divorce on biblical grounds," she wrote. (snip) Ken Paxton released his own statement on X shortly thereafter, in which he attributed "the pressures of countless political attacks and public scrutiny" for the filing.

Comments:

Sorry to learn of this. I counted Paxton as one of the good guys. I've not followed the gossip, apparently well-known, about his long-term affair. That dame has done him no favors.

"Biblical" = "Adultery/Marital Infidelity." No idea of their situation, but just saying. It's in there. Look it up.

Two thoughts. First, USA Today is spewing innuendo, and it ceases to be news. Second, neither party is on the side of its citizens. They mainly line their pockets and buy votes. One should not rely on them for anything. They don't really govern. When I see a story about a government official doing things they should not do, it never surprises. We humans are not saints.

I always thought Paxton was doing a good job in Texas. However, I also think that if a guy’s wife can’t trust him, you can’t either.

FFS- the timing- and it is a he said, she said- what is the purpose of the statement now? Who is the opponent? Cornyn.. has Paxton done well for Texas? Will he work with Trump? Normally, I go with the “if a wife can’t trust you” but the smear tactic timing is political hatchet job.

This is obviously a political hit. I don't get into people's marriages the way some do. Cheesy USA Today does this because Paxton is a Conservative and a Trump ally. Has anyone ever really blamed Clinton for his biblical affairs when they consider he's been married to Hillary? Just sayin'///

Ok, maybe I am a pollyanna but my knee-jerk reaction to this is to suspect SHE is being paid by someone very wealthy to fabricate whatever will harm him, both politically and in the divorce. Admittedly, I do not know any details, but its just very suspicious that, as soon as he's shown to be crushing Cornholio, now he's an adulterer.

From another article: "The Senate GOP’s campaign committee swung at Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) on Thursday after news broke that his wife, Angela Paxton, had filed for divorce. “What Ken Paxton has put his family through is truly repulsive and disgusting,” National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesperson Joanna Rodriguez said. “No one should have to endure what Angela Paxton has, and we pray for her as she chooses to stand up for herself and her family during this difficult time.” Ken Paxton is looking to topple Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), with one poll in June showing the incumbent trailing the state attorney general by 22 points. The NRSC endorsed Cornyn in the 2026 race and generally supports incumbents. One NRSC staffer touted Cornyn’s marriage on the social platform X, posting a heart in a reply to a 2022 post from Cornyn celebrating their anniversary." https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5396340-nrsc-official-criticizes-ken-paxton/ Pretty clear that this is about politics and Paxton is ahead of wuss RINO Cornyn. Someone convinced Angela to level the playing field or she just saw a great opportunity to finally destroy her husband.

I can hardly imagine the stress that Mr. Paxton has been under, both from the R-establishment and the Left. Before posting the article I checked out several other stories. His new "lady" has a highly visible social and online profile. It's possible that Mrs. Paxton has not been a good wife for a long time and that any compassionate person would wish something better for Mr. Paxton's personal life. Even if that were true, he should have better judgement than to pick and stay with a mistress who goes out of her way to flaunt the infidelity. How in the world does this help him navigate the treacherous political waters swirling in TX and DC? RtP

Never seems to fail. Whenever a Conservative, or worse yet a Trump ally, is polling ahead of a squish Rino or Demonrat something untoward always pops up out of the blue against him. This is the first I've heard of marital problems concerning Ken Paxton, but I can't help but think the Texas Rino/Demonrat cabal ruining everything for Texans are behind it. After all, they need to get started sabotaging Ken Paxton early since he's so far ahead of Cornholio the Rino Clown. Everyone knows darn well they had a ****load of excuses for Billy Bozo when he was caught practically red-handed, in the White House no less, playing a bit more than patty fingers with Monica Lewinsky, and he wouldn't resign even after being impeached. Far as I can tell this is the same kind of tactics (excuses for Commie/Dems, and torches and pitchforks for Conservatives) just different decade to get some to not vote for Ken Paxton. I'm still voting for Ken Paxton in the Primary, and hopefully after, because Cornyn is that bad. It would take much more than this to change my mind.

I want a different candidate to declare for the senate race. Paxton has done a good job, but he has known that the Dems were after him for YEARS. Yet he still has the affair and continues to yield to his ego to run for higher office. If they don't go for the easy sex smear, there's the non-sexy SEC charges that will require a lot more money to attack with and that hasn't worked for the last 5 -10 years and is going to be difficult with Trump's people now at the SEC and DOJ. Surely TX GOP could get Chip Roy or Wesley Hunt or SOMEBODY else. Cornyn is too old and he should have had the grace to step down.

In re #14 and #15, good thoughts. As we see, certain pubbies who are already under stress and show it are preyed upon and lured to a dark side for political purposes. I saw the pic provided by #12 (thank you, Earlybird). Angela does not appear to be the "as white as the driven snow" saint she claims to be in her divorce petition. As for Ken, the lesson learned - keep the zipper zipped and don't hook up with some broad who craves the publicity. Was this matter timed to cause maximum political and personal damage to Ken? Of course it was. However, at the end of the day, understand that the dims - male, female, and tranny alike, are well-experienced in the sport of sex outside of the marriage, more so than the pubbies.

I fear that with Cornyn, looking to be increasingly unpopular (despite the snail mail and email statements he issues supporting Trump and his agenda), labeled by many as a RINO, with some valid reasons, and given the news about Paxton mudding the waters,Texas might end up with a Beto in the Senate. I read the mantras stating there is no longer any difference between democrats and republicans but do not believe them. I believe that if every L.Dotter was polled on who the RINOS are on a national scale, or questioned as to what traits constitute a RINO in 2025, there would be some crossover but also some widely divergent results. While it has become more trendy - evidently - to trash Republicans en mass, none of the critics seem to acknowledge that Trump leads the GOP. Why is that? No caveats or exemptions for Trump are given when Republicans at large are being trashed. I suppose the commenters assume that those reading will know intuitively that Trump is not included in the rants against Republicans. In Texas, the Lieutenant Governor, Dan Patrick, has been rather high profile lately; however, being 75 and breaking down on national TV as he described the scene and horrific tragedy of the children who perished along the Guadelupe, could work against him. In my book, if I were back on Patrol and had to break up another hair, teeth, and eyeball bar fight, I'd rather have Patrick as back up than Paxton, Cornyn, or - heaven forbid - Beto. I suspect the old white-headed guy still has some fight in him, as well as decency. These observations, issues, and questions interest me far more than Paxton's marital problems.
