Three men whom authorities say are illegal aliens were arrested in Purcell, Oklahoma, and charged for cutting apart and stealing copper coaxial lines from a U.S. Cellular antenna site. The McClain County Sheriff’s Office said the men perpetrated the crime just after midnight on Thursday. Officers were called by a company employee who was investigating antenna signal loss and who reported the theft in progress, KOCO-TV reported. [Video] Sheriff’s deputies along with members of the Purcell Police Department responded to the scene and say they caught the three men in the commission of the crime. They were quickly confronted and taken into custody.

Maybe things are done differently in Oklahoma, but here when you take things to a junk dealer they get very suspicious when you bring in wire or copper pipe in large quantities. They want a verifiable explanation as to where it came from and they insist on ID (which they copy) before they'll pay.

Don't arrest them. Direct them to a 33,000 volt high tension line, tell them it is abandoned line, no power. Give them an all metal cable cutter.

This is a popular crime. In many areas of the country the police demand reports of these sales from the buyers of scrap metal. I like #7's idea, you get justice, the penalty and cremation all in one step. Very efficient.

The gigantic eyesore windmills you see scattered all over the countryside contain about one ton of copper each, which is currently worth $5.00 an ounce. 32,000 ounces of Cu are worth $160,000. Yes, some windmills have been stripped of their copper. This will continue until these almost useless devices are outlawed. In time, they will be oulawed in large applications. Almost pure waste. And what do you do with unrecyclable 100 foot long windmill blades that have to be transported to gigantic dumps, where they will remain forever? All Green has to go. In the long run, it's no good.

Copper is at $5.52 an ounce at this moment. So what's in that windmill is worth $176,640.

An American Tradition! Back in the 1960s, my step-father's sister's third husband used to do that. He, along with a couple of other guys, stole line from the phone company storage yard. But when they found out the FBI was looking into the thefts, they switched to stealing wire off telephone poles. Nice to see the illegal aliens trying to assimilate. (The rest of the story: Realizing that wire directly from the poles only made the FBI problem worse, they then switched to stealing tractors and offering to find them for the owners, for a suitable cash reward. Quite the entrepreneurs - Georgia boys immigrating to the big city of Miami.)

Correction #9 & #10 That is the approximate price of copper per POUND. Scrap bare copper is about $3.50 a pound. Insulated copper wire is about $1.50 per pound.

Here's what Homan actually said: “Look, people need to understand, ICE officers and Border Patrol don’t need probable cause to walk up to somebody, briefly detain them, and question them. It happened one year ago today: Around 6:15 PM, Donald Trump was nearly assassinated at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania—a near-fatal headshot missed by mere millimeters. Trump surviving this assassination attempt is nothing short of miraculous, not only because the shooter was so close, but also because his security detail was questionable. One round did clip his ear. The shots came from a rifle fired by Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was perched on an unsecured rooftop less than 400 yards from the main stage. It was a glaring and inexcusable security breach for the United States Secret Service, which recently suspended six agents for their conduct on that day.

For months, the signs have been impossible to ignore: the Democratic Party is in freefall. Poll after poll shows voters turning away in droves—disillusioned by the party’s radical agenda, frustrated by its lack of leadership, and convinced it no longer represents their values. The 2024 elections were a political earthquake, and in the aftermath, Democrats have been left picking through the rubble of a once-dominant coalition. The party’s “next generation” of leaders—Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jasmine Crockett—have all the gravitas of a student council president demanding longer lunch periods and less homework. So now the question is: What does a broken party do when it’s staring into the abyss?

The conservative-majority court, without any explanation, granted an emergency application from the administration that blocks the federal judge's ruling. The court's three liberal members objected, with Justice Sonia Sotomayor writing a blistering dissenting opinion. "When the Executive publicly announces its intent to break the law, and then executes on that promise, it is the Judiciary’s duty to check that lawlessness, not expedite it," she wrote.
