MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will seek to energize activists at Democratic state conventions in South Carolina and California on Saturday, as the party's 2024 vice presidential nominee works to keep up the high national profile he gained when Kamala Harris selected him as her running mate. Walz, a former schoolteacher who went to Congress and then became his state’s governor, will keynote the South Carolina gathering in Columbia, traditionally a showcase for national-level Democrats and White House hopefuls. Another leader who often appears on those lists, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, spoke Friday night at the party’s fundraising dinner.

Comments:

Please, please, please pick Timpon next time. Along with Stacey Abrams (to balance the ticket).

It is strange (not really) how they pick the most Beta, Swishy male to be their spokesman. Any self respecting man would reject this person who at the first sign of actually having to go to an area the military feels it is necessary to staff.... Bails. His failure to fulfil his sworn duty to his country speaks volumes about his loyalty, integrity. and courage mindset.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — California is bracing for the closure of two major oil refineries, including one in the Bay Area. State lawmakers are sounding the alarm on what that could mean for gas prices. At just under $5 per gallon in Walnut Creek, some drivers are forking out over $100 to fill up the tank. With two refineries preparing to shut down, that’s expected to drive up prices. In the East Bay, the Valero Benicia Refinery is expected to close in April 2026. Down in Southern California, owners of the Phillips 66 refinery are also planning to stop operations

PORTLAND, Ore. – Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) reintroduced a bill on Friday that could change the way Americans vote across the United States. Initially introduced by Wyden in 2017, the Vote at Home Act would give eligible voters the option to vote by mail (including via drop-off site), provide pre-paid envelopes to return ballots and would automatically register citizens to vote at DMVs. Under the bill, voters who live in states with in-person, same-day voter registration would still have the option to vote at a polling station. Barely a week into her tenure as Washington, DC’s top federal prosecutor, Jeanine Pirro faced an urgent test –overseeing the investigation into the murders of two Israeli embassy staffers outside the city’s Jewish museum. Pirro’s response to the young couples’ murder was under the microscope, as it was her first opportunity to enter the public eye no longer as a Fox News host but as a high-ranking government official leading the charge to bring justice after a public assassination. Her quick command over the investigation garnered high marks from Justice Department officials. Prosecutors who work for her felt cautiously encouraged.

Still, it plays a significant part of life, structuring time and change.
