U.S. Representative Andy Ogles (R-TN-05) on Tuesday highlighted videos recently uploaded to social media by State Representative Aftyn Behn (D-Nashville), during which the state lawmaker appears to take credit for briefly impeding the recent joint immigration enforcement operation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP). According to Ogles, such behavior is enabled within Metro Nashville by Mayor Freddie O’Connell. “This is Nashville State Representative Aftyn Behn,” wrote Ogles in a post to the social media platform X, containing a clip from Behn’s account on Instagram. “She just posted a 15-minute video

An audit of Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC) — one of the key progressive players opposing President Trump’s immigration enforcement efforts in Middle Tennessee — found “material weaknesses” and “significant deficiencies” in its accounting procedures.” In its 2023 audit — the most recent available — the Certified Public Accounting Firm Watkins Uiberol, found TIRRC did not track how some $383,497 in taxpayer money it passed through to other groups was spent. Auditors also found TIRCC “did not adequately monitor the sub-recipients use of federal awards or comply with compliance requirements.” In violation of federal rules,

On Wednesday, WSMV4 published a story talking about how the construction industry is being impacted by the federal government’s arrest of illegal immigrants. The Department of Homeland Security announced this week that almost 200 criminal illegal aliens were arrested. Ninety-five of these individuals had prior criminal convictions and pending criminal charges. Another 31 people had entered America illegally after being deported, which is a felony. TIRRC has condemned the recent immigration enforcement in Nashville that has seen more than 100 arrests, claiming law enforcement was “kidnapping our people off the street based on nothing but the color of their skin.” The group’s opposition to immigration enforcement led it to donate more than $30,000

In the last two and a half years, eight sitting members of the House or Senate have died in office. Every time, it's been a Democrat. Rep. Gerry Connolly of Virginia, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, died on Wednesday at 75, after a battle with esophageal cancer. He's the third House Democrat to die in the last three months. If Democrats had gained a narrow 1 or 2-seat majority in 2024, they would have lost it by now. The streak of Democratic deaths could just be something of a coincidence. After all, there are plenty of elderly

I have no idea how to comprehend this act of incompetence. Last Friday, severe storms rolled into St. Louis. A tornado touched down and struck the northern part of the city—and there were no warning sirens. The tornado alarm system was never activated. It wasn’t due to a computer glitch. It was human error: the emergency management director, Sarah Russell, essentially forgot to turn it on, but it gets worse: the staff wasn’t even in the office. Russell contacted the fire department to initiate the system, but this was a shambolic failure

Those of us who were long convinced that aides were hiding the president’s cognitive decline weren’t cynical enough. We also needed to believe they were hiding other serious ailments, such as prostate cancer. Hmm, what else didn’t we suspect that we should have? In March, President Donald Trump announced a full halt to U.S. foreign aid to South Africa, citing the government’s racially charged abuse of white Afrikaner farmers. He blasted the regime for orchestrated land seizures and escalating violence, calling the country “a bad place to be right now.” At the same time, he offered a fast track to U.S. citizenship for South African farmers and their families seeking safety from persecution. The black-led South African government has flatly denied any campaign of anti-white violence, brushing off the attacks as fiction and painting any criticism as offensive. But the facts on the ground — brutal murders, farm invasions,

Several years ago, I was getting ready to travel to Austin, Texas, for a conference. Just out of curiosity, I looked into getting there by train. Amtrak was the only option, of course. My trip to Austin would take 36 hours, and the route was something like Atlanta to Washington to Chicago to Austin. It would also cost twice as much as flying. Needless to say, Amtrak was totally out as an option. Despite its impracticality and expense, the left loves to romanticize train travel. I think much of it because left-wing media types all live in the Acela corridor, where passenger rail infrastructure is plentiful.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio defended the Trump administration's reorganization of what he calls the U.S. "foreign aid industrial complex" during a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on Tuesday. Rubio said previously at USAID, "only 12 cents of every dollar was reaching the recipient." "We still will provide more foreign aid, more humanitarian support, than the next 10 countries combined... and far more than China," he said, disputing the argument that the U.S. is handing over soft power to China by cutting foreign aid. "China doesn’t do humanitarian aid. China does predatory lending."
