Daniel Penny was greeted with shouts of “Guilty!” as he arrived in court Monday morning ahead of closing arguments in his lightning-rod Manhattan manslaughter trial in the chokehold death of Jordan Neely.
Penny, 26, strolled into Manhattan Supreme Court around 10:15 a.m. flanked by his attorneys Thomas Kenniff and Steven Raiser — as a 12-person jury will hear final remarks from prosecutors and the defense before the panel begins deliberations.
A group of a dozen protesters chanted, “Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!” as the Marine veteran exited a black SUV outside the 100 Centre St. courthouse.
“What do we want? Justice! When do we want it? Now!” the demonstrators shouted.

Article correction, "a tiny group of deranged leftists yelled nonsense at a hero on his way to defend himself from a pro-crime DA".

Trump soon has pardon power too, does he not? Time to remedy some of these travesties of justice perpetrated by corrupt prosecutors.

#2 only for federal crimes. This is a state action.
This also serves as a reminder to never travel to, live in, or work in a blue area, particularly any governed by Leftist blacks. They are overwhelmingly racist against whites and Asians and Hispanics. Might as well be in a third world nation.

The ones who should be on trial are the city officials who did not do their jobs and allowed a drug-addled insane bum to terrorize and assault citizens. The DA should be forced to ride the subway every night without a security detail, so he can have an authentic urban experience.
Meanwhile, I don't understand why anyone would want to travel or live in that open-air insane asylum where insane drug addicted criminals are protected by the law whenever their intended victims choose to fight back.

#4 has got it right. American who at one time thought that only whites could be racist are waking up to the fact that black can not only be racist but racist with more attitude than the majority of whites.

May those demonstrators one day be attacked by some lunatic like Neely. They will be the first to squeal like pigs when nobody steps up to help them.

activists... Maybe someone should hold and run their identity through the FBI database. Out of the 12 protesters we would find 2 FBI agents/assets, 1 from the CIA, a bevy of Murderers out on release, and friends of the 'victim' who are as deranged as he was.

Wasn't it New York that prosecuted people for not being good Samaritans when they walked past someone in need of help?
One sure way to stop people from helping others is to prosecute the people who help... or to require powers of the helper (knowing what is just enough but not too much) than common people don't possess.

If any of the jury heard about or saw this its time for a mistrial. If not a mistrial then an appeal.

A choke involves obstructing the breathing passages by either crushing or blocking the trachea. What Daniel Penny did to Jordan Neely was put him what used to be called a "sleeper" in which both carotid arteries are pinched shut, and the person trapped in the hold goes to sleep. The process, demonstrated on me by my martial arts instructor, takes about ten seconds, followed by unconsciousness. He let off in about eight seconds, and I was already blacking out. Very, very effective if the assailant can't shake you off his back in ten seconds. He's completely out. The problem with these carotid restraints--they're not chokes--is that if the lock is held for more than a minute, the lockee might not ever wake up. In New York, that's a problem.

#4, the pardon would have to come from the governor of NY. It is not likely that she has the moral or physical courage, compassion, or wisdom to do that.

Neely was breathing when EMTs got to him. The final hold Penny used was a head lock. Actual medical evidence shows Neely died from a heart issue.

It used to make me so mad when I would see a video of someone being attacked by a thug or group of thugs, and men would just be standing there not doing anything to help.
Sadly, now I understand. Helping that person you don't even know isn't worth leaving your wife and kids to have to survive while their provider is rotting in prison for trying to "do the right thing"...

Twelve protestors, who never had a thought about Nelly until they could get their stupid mugs in front of a camera, will rule. Wait and see. I'm afraid Penny will be found guilty to appease the "poor" Nelly family, who have already said they are sure Penny will be convicted.
