A “combative” interview with Los Angeles Times owner Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong was abruptly ended this week when the reporter asked about Soon-Shiong’s decision to name CNN contributor Scott Jennings, a conservative supporter of president-elect Donald Trump, to the paper’s new editorial board. (Snip) Earlier in the conversation, Soon-Shiong told Darcy that the new editorial board would represent “all voices,” and include “some truly critical thinkers” and “thoughtful people” who “voice opinion based on the facts.” On Tuesday, the Times’ owner welcomed Jennings to the board in a tweet that read, “Growing the board with experts who have thoughtful balanced views

Reporter got mad over LA Times adding Scott Jennings to Editorial page. Since when is it a reporter's job to argue with the interviewee?

LAT board members with "opinions based on facts"? This is shocking. LAT has never let facts get in the way of the leftist narrative in the past....this is a shocking change, ---- for the good.

Maybe the owner is realizing things aren't as rosy in CA, especially in LA area, which requires a more forceful newspaper holding authorities accountable. Group-think will destroy all organizations and entities. Diversity is not just skin color which is actually showing bias and plays into stereotypes.

Seems the interview was ended by a Times rep, the reporter Oliver Darcy is the founder of the newsletter Status and doesn't work for LATs. Since this story is from Darcy who like most all unbalanced liberals was probably getting violently mad so I tend to doubt this story as written. I'd like the hear Dr. Soon-Shiong's side.

Target on Wednesday missed Wall Street’s quarterly earnings and revenue expectations and posted only a slight uptick in customer traffic, despite the discounter’s price cuts on thousands of items and its early holiday sale. (Snip) Target now expects fourth-quarter comparable sales to be approximately flat. That metric, which is also known as same-store sales, includes sales on its website and stores open at least 13 months. Target fell short of Wall Street’s earnings per share estimate by 20%, its biggest miss in two years. It also marked its first revenue miss since August 2023. The company’s shares plunged more than

The Russian military is accelerating its gains along the front line in Ukraine at a crucial time for the conflict. Data from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) shows that Russia has gained almost six times as much territory in 2024 as it did in 2023, and is advancing towards key Ukrainian logistical hubs in the eastern Donbas region. Meanwhile, Ukraine's surprise incursion into Russia's Kursk region is faltering. Russian troops have pushed Kyiv's offensive backwards. Experts have questioned the success of the offensive, with one calling it a "strategic catastrophe" given manpower shortages faced by Ukraine.

The outgoing U.S. president missed a photo with Group of 20 leaders on Monday in Brazil after summit organizers proceeded without him. Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau arrived at the waterside location just as their fellow world leaders were dispersing. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also missed the photo shoot, in which Chinese President Xi Jinping stood front and center. The White House said the photograph got taken earlier than planned. President Biden has given the OK to lift restrictions that will allow Ukraine to use U.S.-provided long-range weapons to strike deep into Russian territory, a U.S. official confirmed to CBS News on Sunday. The move is a significant change to U.S. policy in the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict. The easing of restrictions would allow Kyiv to use the Army Tactical Missile System, or ATACMS, to hit targets inside Russia. The move also comes as some 10,000 North Korean troops were sent to Kursk near Ukraine's northern border to help Russian forces retake territory. The White House National Security Council declined to

The announcement from Selzer comes after the Register in its final poll before Election Day delivered a bombshell result showing Vice President Kamala Harris leading Donald Trump 47-44% among likely voters in the state, raising speculation that Harris could mount a stunning upset. OAKLAND, Calif. - A recent poll showed that Vice President Kamala Harris could have a strong advantage if she chooses to run for governor of California in 2026 when Gov. Gavin Newsom’s term ends. The survey, carried out by the University of California, Berkeley's Institute of Governmental Studies and co-sponsored by the Los Angeles Times, indicated that nearly half of the 4,838 participants might support Harris in a potential gubernatorial bid. The Times reported that Harris's support would mostly come from Democratic voters, with 72% indicating they would be very or somewhat likely to back her for governor. In contrast

Hegseth, an Army National Guard veteran, has the words “Deus Vult” tattooed on his bicep, which has been associated with white supremacist groups. "Deus Vult" is a Latin phrase meaning "God Wills It," and was a rallying cry for Christian crusaders in the Middle Ages. California Attorney General Rob Bonta issued a list of suggestions Nov. 26 for shoppers to avoid scams during the holiday season and requested consumers file reports about department stores that lack gender-neutral children’s sections. State law, established by the passage of Assembly Bill 1084 in 2021, which took effect at the beginning of 2024, requires department stores with at least 500 employees across California locations to offer children’s sections that do not separate items based on gender. “By requiring large retailers to maintain a gender-neutral section, AB 1084 makes it more difficult for these retailers to engage in gender-based pricing discrimination and reduces the imposition of gender stereotypes on children,”
