OAKLAND, Calif. - A recent poll showed that Vice President Kamala Harris could have a strong advantage if she chooses to run for governor of California in 2026 when Gov. Gavin Newsom’s term ends. The survey, carried out by the University of California, Berkeley's Institute of Governmental Studies and co-sponsored by the Los Angeles Times, indicated that nearly half of the 4,838 participants might support Harris in a potential gubernatorial bid. The Times reported that Harris's support would mostly come from Democratic voters, with 72% indicating they would be very or somewhat likely to back her for governor. In contrast

I lived in California for 5 years, and it was the crime and politics that drove me out. I can tell you, if you drive one hour inland, California is a completely different state. San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego drive 100% of the state's policy. It's like New York, only bigger. NY is nothing like NYC.

It's been painful over the past several decades to watch California descend into a political and cultural suicide. In my younger days I lived and traveled all over the state, and there wasn't any part of it that I didn't really love--even the southern deserts. But dirty politics has ruined all that, alas!

Katie Porter would eat her lunch in any debate. The only way for the GOP to have any gains in the state will be to openly admit that abortion is a dead issue since CA amended the state Constitution providing for unlimited and no restrictions on abortion. They need to realize this and blunt the attacks used by Democrats into thinking it could be taken away any moment which would free up people to vote for the other issues in the State. It no longer matters if you're pro-life since that position won't alter any access to an abortion. It's literally just your viewpoint now. #8 has a good point on how all of the regulations from CA add costs to everyone else in the country.

I would like to think that a good Republican could beat her in the general election but that's probably a forlorn hope. President Biden has given the OK to lift restrictions that will allow Ukraine to use U.S.-provided long-range weapons to strike deep into Russian territory, a U.S. official confirmed to CBS News on Sunday. The move is a significant change to U.S. policy in the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict. The easing of restrictions would allow Kyiv to use the Army Tactical Missile System, or ATACMS, to hit targets inside Russia. The move also comes as some 10,000 North Korean troops were sent to Kursk near Ukraine's northern border to help Russian forces retake territory. The White House National Security Council declined to
