Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has sued Harris County, where Houston is located, over its guaranteed income program aimed to help thousands of impoverished households in the county. Paxton contends that the program, named 'Uplift Harris', which will provide families in need with $500 a month for 18 months, violates the Texas Constitution. More than 1,900 eligible individuals and families were selected from the ten of the poorest zip codes in the county in February, with the first payment scheduled to go out in late April. With the attorney general now calling the program unlawful, the program could be halted just weeks before the first payment is set to roll out.

They could have made it for nine months but that would have been a little too obvious given the date of the election.

If only they'd accept the Truth from Jesus Himself, "the poor you will have with you always." State-funded "compassion" is wrong, and every time it is instituted becomes rife with waste, fraud, and abuse.

Vice President Kamala Harris posted a video to X on Thursday in which she praised the ATF’s proposed rule which will force background checks on private gun sales. President Biden boasted about the proposed ATF rule Thursday morning as well. Breitbart News explained that the ATF’s proposed rule changes the definition of what it means to be “engaged in the business of selling guns,” thereby expanding the instances in which an unlicensed seller — i.e., a private citizen — must use the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) to sell or transfer a gun.

Hours of private testimony by two of the top State Department officials who oversaw the evacuation from Afghanistan lays bare the confusion at the heart of the operation, and how they failed to respond to warning signs that the Taliban was sweeping across the country. The result was a chaotic operation at Kabul's airport in August 2021 with Americans scrambling to get on flights after the extremist group had seized control of the country. American citizens had to pass through checkpoints run by the same gunmen who had spent years battling U.S. forces.

Third-party candidacies have never fared well in American presidential elections. The last third-party candidate to win even one Electoral College vote was in 1968 when American Independent Party candidate George Wallace gleaned 46 electoral votes, all in states of the former Confederacy, in an election that saw Richard Nixon into the White House.
