The UN Security Council has rejected a US-sponsored resolution calling for an "immediate and sustained ceasefire" in Gaza.
It comes after permanent members Russia and China chose to veto a motion tabled on Friday.
Israel has been coming under increasing pressure to allow more humanitarian aid to reach over two million Palestinians - and better protect civilians.
The draft had undergone "many rounds of consultations" with members of the 15-seat council, and marked a toughening of America's stance towards Israel. Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the US ambassador to the UN, said the resolution's failure was "really outrageous and below the dignity of the UN Security Council".

Did the US know in advance that the Ruskies and Chicoms would veto the political campaign stunt?
From a "Michigan problem" standpoint this is awkward.

"...below the dignity of the UN Security Council."
That ship sailed and sank long ago.

Calling for a permanent ceasefire right now is denying Israel's right to security and self defense - a basic violation of the United Nations charter.

Don't be surprised when Biden proposes bringing the Hamas terrorists and their familes here to America.

When I lived in Houston, from time to time cockroaches would invade my apartment, and it was time to spray the place to exterminate them. Only the roaches themselves saw this as a "genocide".

So, China and Russia have done Israel a favor. Meanwhile, the supposed ally of Israel isn't backing Israel's right to protect itself.

The previous aid they got was spent digging tunnels.

I think #1 got it exactly right. This otherwise inexplicable move had to be meant to placate the pro-Palestinian voters. As is typical with Democrats, they offered nothing but the appearance of action. In this case, that was a good thing. But what are their Jewish voters thinking?

They want the opportunity to stretch out the wailing of the so-called Palestinians and tug on our heart strings in a way they themselves don't feel. Not happening, bub.

The UK representative says herein, ""Palestinians are facing a devastating and growing humanitarian crisis which will not improve until more aid can get into Gaza." I do challenge this fuzzy remark. UNRWA says 200 food trucks daily are needed; Grok informs that the number of trucks varied last week from 115 to more than 200. I am not sure Israel deserves an accusation. Furthermore, Israel is apparently single-handedly supplying Shifa hospital so that it can continue to serve patients. The food, medicine, etc. It was doing so while Hamas hid 500 terrorists within. I am not so sure Israel deserves criticism here.

Biden’s crew is finding out how much the 101% politically partisan Biden Is respected on the world stage. No doubt China, Iran, Russia, and other adversary countries, who are potential enemy countries, have found out long ago that Biden is corrupt “paper tiger” and so China, Iran and Russia opposing and vetoing the obviously bogus Biden Gaza so-called ceasefire UN resolution is no big deal for them, as they know that resolution was obviously filed as a part of the Biden domestic political campaign attempt to buy the ballots of Muslims and their supporters in the November election. Common sense will tell you that even a supposed US President can’t go around publicly calling and yelling derogatory terms aimed at foreign leaders, such as Putin, of nuclear armed countries, and expect that those foreign leaders are going to go out of their way to support the USA position in a clinch. If Biden and his crew were on the up and up to support Israel, they would not be involved in interfering with who the Israelis elect as their Prime Minister.

This doesn't pass the smell test. Both Communist countries voted to NOT stop a massacre of people they support? Huh? And we put that on the table to appease Michigan Dems and other Left wing nut jobs?
Sounds like it was all rigged and planned.
Next initiative from China Joe: We need to fly 700,000 Gazans here and drop them in Red States.

To #10, twice you write, “ I am not sure that…” Why are you so afraid to be sure? Do you lack conviction? Is taking a firm stand so difficult for you? Do you want to please everyone and offend no one? If so, avoid political discussion; it is no place for milksop weenies.

I thought the whole reason for the formation of the UN was that the UN would be able to keep peace worldwide. This proves the UN is not needed, in fact it is a dangerous cabal that is an enemy to any peace loving nation. It is anti-humanitarian.
