Hotel California: Majority of Small Business
Bosses Want Out but Feel 'They Can Never Leave'

Everything's more expensive in California. They used to call it the sunshine tax, but now California has become a colossal tax suck for all manner of leftist government takings. The state steals tax money from working people to cover the "we don't want to lock up criminals tax," the "we want to give free stuff to everyone, not a citizen tax." They take the "we want to give free homes to drug addicts tax" out of everyone's paychecks and really stick it to people with their "we don't want you to drive" tax. The state is $73 billion in the red since Gavin Newsom became governor. Not a typo.

The majority of small businesses want out of California. Not at all surprising. Swarming with illegals, homeless pooping everywhere, trashing every place, crime running rampant, taxes sky high, freeways haven't been improved in 30 years in much of the urban areas and fuel costs double what they are in my state. Heck, pretty much all costs are half again or twice what they are in the midwest. But the sunshine is nice, I have to agree.

Some of these are key issues Steve Garvey should be talking about, and the RNC should be funding TV and radio commercials about. Should be asking if voting for the same Democrat policies and tax schemes is helping or maybe it's time to put enough Republicans into office to ensure there is some balance and conversation about the issues facing the State. I've heard there is significant declining enrollment which is forcing conversations about closing schools, and combining schools (i.e. close a Jr. High and merge into local High School for 7-12 school). They should also look at scrapping Jr. High as separate school altogether - combine as K-8 or 7-12. Also, hear they are looking to fire teachers but then re-hire them under the new Prop 28 funding mechanism which is totally dedicated for the Arts.

If allowed, the market decides in the end. Dealers and rental car companies can’t move EVs and CA has a huge budget deficit. They will probably try to raise taxes and that will just accelerate the outflow.

You can already hear the same old scam revving up, this time about Haiti – yet again. I remember 30 years ago when we were going to fix Haiti. And since I read history, I know about 100 years ago when we were also going to fix Haiti. Now, our garbage ruling class is on the verge of demanding we try to fix Haiti yet again. Spoiler – you can’t fix Haiti. And it’s not worth one single American life trying to. That’s not to say Haiti isn’t a mess and that we shouldn’t provide some humanitarian aid. Look, Haiti had it hard from the beginning.

Donald Trump has locked up the necessary delegates for the Republican presidential nomination, which means it's time for every political junkie's favorite quadrennial game: Veepstakes! Every four years, commentators, political consultants and elected officials all chime in with their takes on who a presidential candidate's running mate should be. Perhaps the candidate ought to select a veep from a swing state. Perhaps the candidate ought to select someone who fits a certain demographic box. Maybe the candidate ought to pick someone with a very similar political philosophy -- or perhaps someone whose ideological bona fides assuage any lingering concerns

Some 8 to 10 million illegal aliens from all over the world, as expected, have flooded across the border since President Joe Biden took office. A demagogic candidate Biden, remember, in 2019 invited those massing at the southern border to "surge" into the United States without specifying that they first needed legal sanction: "We immediately surge to the border all those seeking asylum." In contrast, we know legal immigration is America's great strength, but it has always depended on a few key prerequisites. Immigration must be legal and measured. Why? Because only the host nation can adjudicate how many immigrants it can successfully accept and assimilate. It has no desire to encourage Balkanized tribalism

Democrats tried and true tactic when their policies failed and Americans abandoned them: blame Donald Trump. And it was no exception for Democrat Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson who claimed Trump supporters are the reason his homeless policy was rejected by voters. Johnson’s progressive agenda failed Wednesday night after 53.7 percent of Chicagoans voted against his homeless referendum, compared to 46.3 percent who were in support of it. The Democrat claimed that the same people who voted against his policy were “the same people who want to see Donald Trump … be president again.” “There were 38,000 Republicans that showed up and voted for Donald Trump… in Chicago,” Johnson said.

There are innumerable superseding indictments against Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ). The New Jersey Democrat found himself fighting for his political life when federal agents raided his home, finding gold bars and over $400,000 in cash strewn about the residence. Some money was tucked into clothing. Menendez was also charged with failure to register as a foreign agent of the Egyptian government. Now, Qatar is in the mix. [Tweet] Menendez has survived previous corruption charges, but the never-ending stream of evidence filed against him has led to his colleagues mostly abandoning him. The gold bars appear to be the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Whatever remains of Hamas in Gaza is mostly holed up in tunnels and in the southernmost city of Rafah, fat with food and weapons while the Arab residents of Gaza — we're assured by the most trustworthy propaganda outlets — are either starved or slaughtered by genocidal Israeli soldiers. Advertisement But the ruin in the Gaza Strip is very real, and a World War II-style reminder of why it's a bad idea to start wars with more powerful opponents. And yet a new poll shows that support for Hamas — and for murdering Jews — remains as strong as ever in what's left of Gaza. Here are the headline numbers,

Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) gave us another amusing demonstration of his ability to humiliate Joe Biden’s unqualified judicial nominees during Wednesday's confirmation hearing. United States District Judge Nancy Maldonado of the Northern District of Illinois, who has been nominated by Joe Biden for a spot on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, had previously signed a brief supporting a ban on "assault weapons" in Illinois state courts in the 2010s, yet, when he asked her to define "assault weapons,” she couldn’t. “You said, ‘assault weapons may be banned because they’re extraordinarily dangerous and are not appropriate for legitimate self-defense purposes,’” Kennedy said.

Wheatpasting? Yeah, I'll get to that. New York City does not have enough problems these days. True, those problems are largely the result of the choices of the electorate, and for that, residents of the Big Apple have no one to blame but themselves. You know, elections, consequences, blah, blah, blah. Advertisement Between the crush of illegal immigrants, the Mad Max reenactments on the subway, open-air drug sales, homeless people, and God knows what else, the good people of Gotham must now gird their loins for a four-day event like no other. And we are not talking about Fashion Week, a film festival, or a major sporting event.

International pressure is mounting on Israel to stay out of Rafah, a final Hamas foothold in southern Gaza. The Israeli government -- which is operating under a 'unity' wartime cabinet -- has approved an Israeli Defense Forces operation in the city. The usual coalition of Islamist terrorism supporters, Hamas sympathizers, Israel haters, anti-Semites and leftists are pulling out all the stops to deter this incursion. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, whose pro-Israel record has been fairly strong for years, issued astonishing and deeply inappropriate demands last week for new Israeli elections and the replacement of the current government in Jerusalem.

Leonel Moreno, who goes by @leitooficial_25 online and appears to be a Venezuelan migrant, has told his followers that under US law, 'if a house is not inhabited, we can seize it'. An academic group, Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC), obtained some alarming data. In over 200,000 cases, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) failed to file the proper paperwork with immigration courts in Houston, Texas and Miami, Florida. The illegal aliens were issued a Notice to Appear (NTA) at the border, which creates a court date. However, DHS never filed the paperwork with the court. The asylum process can't move forward without filing the proper paperwork with the court. The court date rolls around and the asylum-seeker shows up. The judge doesn't have the paperwork so the case is dismissed.
