Former President Donald Trump has not been able to get a bond to secure the $464 million fraud judgment against him, his lawyers said in a court filing Monday.
Trump and his company need to post a bond for the full amount by next week in order to stop New York Attorney General Letitia James from being able to collect while he appeals. They've asked an appeals court to step in in the meantime and said Monday that they have not had any success getting a bond. "Defendants’ ongoing diligent efforts have proven that a bond in the judgment’s full amount is 'a practical impossibility,'" the filing said. "These diligent efforts

As designed. The move is towards bankrupting Trump. He should clear out all his New York properties and abandon them. Leave behind empty hulks of buildings. No plumbing, No heat. No electricity. Letitia can have them. Our government is a criminal organization.

what doesn't anyone, other than Lucianne.com people, understand about the ridiculous viciousness in which this "fine" was constructed and for wholly political purposes and nothing else

Probably companies afraid of government or lawfare attacks if they support Trump. Mafia style NY criminal activity under the cover of "official actions".

Geee...when part of the "Judgement" is to forbid any bank in the State from doing ANY business with Trump?
Even those he has had a long and happy, mutually beneficial, and profitable relationship...some of which are actually HEADQUARTERED in his buildings.
Pretty "Cruel"...and certainly "Unusual"
What's he gonna do...sneak an 80story building out of town in the middle of the night?
Tish has said "I have been eyeballing 40 Wall Street every day"....Trump bought that tower for a song, stories range from $100,000> $10 Million, when it was nearly vacant, bankrupt, homeless people squatting in it, full of trash, and garbage, only one of it's 20 elevators working...turned it into one of the cities iconic addresses, most valuable real estate, with full occupancy.
He did the same with the Federal owned DC Post office tower, that had COST taxpayers $billions over a decade, won the auction for the lease, turned it into a DC Landmark property, generating $Milions every year FOR the Taxpayers, creating thousands of JOBS. The majority of Tish and the Judges "Damages" claim is they want 100% of ALL increase in value from that particular property, with no deductions for costs/expenses,even though Trump already paid off the investors and sold it...and even though Waldorf Astoria/Hilton, that bought it, just defaulted on THEIR $250Million Bank Loans for it. Tish isn't threatening to seize the NYC Astoria(currently empty and undergoing remodel) or any of Hilton's 60 NYC properties.

Well, yeah, if I'm in the bonding business, I'm thinking issuing a big ol' bond to Trump isn't a smart business decision.
There are a whole lot of political types who are finding ways to attach themselves to specious judgements against Trump, especially in New York State. Yeah, he probably will win on appeal, but what if he doesn't. Plus, those political types can make it real difficult for me to do my business in New York State. Kinda like the "nice business you got here, it'd be a shame to see sumthin happen" racket. No reason to tick those folks off.
But if I can move my business out of New York State, I'm sure looking at doing it ASAP. Who knows who is next? Yeah, Trump can be a political target, but what keeps any of these enterprising politicians from deciding that what I got sure looks real nice?

Trump won't have to pay squat. When elected, he'll pardon himself or the case will go to the Supreme Court and be shot down.

Please explain how you get a $464 Million Bond when they usually do not issue bonds for over $100 Million? Of course, Trump could get 5 bonds to cover that amount, but as noted in the article, they will not usually take real estate for collateral. Also, why must Trump pay the bond in order to be able to appeal his case? If Trump wins his appeal, will he get the bond money back, with interest? This entire case is a big mess that will hopefully end up being overturned and New York State having egg on their face. Unfortunately, the only one who ends up hurt in the entire process is still Donald Trump, no matter the outcome.

They better enjoy their sadistic game while they can. Payback's going to be schadenfreudelicious when Trump is re-elected, his enemies, driven before him, and we can hear the lamentations of their kinda-sorta women.

imho, an unconstitutionally cruel , unusual and excessive fine, exceeding the bounds of law and propriety...
especially coming from the likes of the orca. here's what's reported as sketchy about her, above and beyond
all their conspiracies to ruin pdt: receiving a 750K dark money loan from never-trumpers to buy RE;
she's inserted herself in another RE deal in NYC reported by miranda devine re: a charming place,
the value of which has been inflated by the orca herself they say, and denying foreclosure on a 3M mortgage
on that desired property. additionally, she's salaciously eyeballing 40 wall st, after trump's renovation.
sounds like she's stooging for the usual suspect, and son, seeking great properties for pennies.

#10, a POTUS cannot pardon himself--or anyone else--from a civil judgment or criminal conviction in a State court. Only federal courts. But I agree with you that this judgment is likely to be severely reduced by some appellate court, either in New York State or in the SCOTUS. Trouble is, that can take one to four years for a judgment like this. But when the Trump family finally gets this thing reversed, New York State taxpayers should be required to reimburse the Trumps for all their expenses related to obtaining any eventual bond.
I agree also that Elon Musk should find a way to "help a brother out." The trick is to do so without running afoul of campaign finance laws, which are extremely tricky and detailed. We all know how the "payoff" to Stormy Daniels to get her to shut up with her allegations and sign a NDA was alleged to be an unreported campaign expense.

Heard on the radio last night that Trump's lawyers are finally invoking the 8th amendment.
Would have thought that would have been step 1.
