Fast food chain McDonald's will buy back all of its Israeli restaurants following a boycott of the brand after it was criticised for giving away thousands of free meals to Israeli soldiers.
The move to donate meals to troops was later renounced by McDonald's franchises in some Muslim countries, highlighting the polarized regional politics that global corporations navigate during war.
Some Western brands are feeling the impact of boycotts in Egypt and Jordan that have now caught on in some countries outside the Arab region including Muslim-majority Malaysia.
The popular chain said it had reached an agreement with franchisee Alonyal for 225 outlets across the country employing 5,000 people.

So because the fanchises in Israel did a good thing, they are to be punished. Why did the franchises in the Muslim countries not give free meals to Hamas instead of complaining??

I wonder how they will deal with the inevitable boycott of the now corporate owned franchises in Israel. I suspect a Bud Lite style action will follow in the US. Get woke, go broke!

Ray Kroc would have thrown in an extra Big Mac for the IDF soldiers and shipped pork patties to the Muslim franchises.

Keep is simple. Boycott McDonalds for charging way too much money for too little food.

So now, our new overlords are the anti-semites? Among them, the feminists, the transgenders, the LGBTQ+ crowd and the DEI Nazis, I can’t keep our masters straight anymore.

Uhhh..... if Egypt, Jordan and Malaysia are so upset about this, why aren't they opening their doors to the poor afflicted Palestinians?

On the other hand, if they had been offering free meals to Hamas, I suppose that would have been commendable.

Well, that's what you get for taking the franchise outside the USA. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. One can only imagine the crazy things China probably puts McDonalds through in order to remain operating.

#4, McDonald's in Israel does sell only halal/kosher food. However, I think Muslims can have a milkshake with their burger.

Too many Muslims getting too much power.
We have Biden kissing their ass and now we have people boycotting a company for feeding Israeli soldiers.
Truly it's time to put a stop to this Muslim BS before we are all being enslaved.

McDonald's leadership has lost their minds. No longer in Russia, now massive changes in Israel. Maybe McDonalds should just serve hamburgers and stay out of everything else.

Taking shots at McDonalds for poor business decisions is a bit lame, considering that our own Legislative and Executive branches of government, are increasingly being influenced by the radical Islamic, 'Muslim First' faction herded into this country by Obama and accelerated under Biden.

Any boycott by Ayerabs must be "proportional." And once McDonald's experiences pain from said boycott they should demand a cease-boycott untill their coffers are once again full.
And then when the boycott ceases, McDonald's will be able the go right back to feeding the IDF soldiers again.
That's how the Ayerabs roll. How do you like it?

Why would they buy them back? Let the franchise owners change the signs and sell whatever they eat in the local countries. That is dumb and will break them.

I'm not understanding how McDonald's was "forced" to acquire all the restaurants of one franchisee. It sounds like Corporate intends to continue to operate the restaurants, so it appears to be more like McDonald's stripped its most successful franchisee in the region of its license agreement.
The headline and article are framed very oddly. Corporate is already feeling economic pressure from the conflict ... does it believe this will mollify the aggressors (meaning Hamas and its supporters)? Nothing will.
