My apology to President Trump

Original Article

I voted for Donald Trump twice. But I’ve never used the words “altruistic” or “generous” to describe him. In fact, whenever my support for Trump came up, I always hastened to add, a little sanctimoniously, that I don’t like the man personally. I might be changing my mind. Here’s why. Trump didn’t need to go into politics. He’s a billionaire. He had everything a man could want, including a gorgeous ex-model for a wife. (Money is a more potent aphrodisiac than power. Sorry, Henry Kissinger – you’d have known that if only you’d had money.)

Well said. It's not exactly where I am coming from but it is nice to read someone who admits they were wrong in judging Trump. The author did not even venture into Trumps anonymous charitable dealings.

This is perhaps the best high level summary of the single issue in this election anyone has written. It's hard for me to believe that I know mature people who have prospered who drink the Dim hate venom cool aid such that they cannot see abject corruption before their eyes or if they do see it they believe it to be justified.

Trump is indeed “cut from a different cloth” with regard to most males in positions of wealth & power in this culture. He is, in real life & at great risk and sacrifice, the strong & heroic MAN that actors have portrayed on the big screen, and a genuinely benevolent man who actually does the good that pretenders receive accolades for doing for sometimes not particularly good reasons. It’s past interesting that Trump’s “flaws” have been so successfully the focus on the man - at least for a time. Those actual flaws generally have been his forthrightly responding with caustic words to open and/or secretive backstabbing attempts from erstwhile “friends and colleagues”, & concerted nefarious and destructive lies and deeds from proud and open enemies. That’s not exactly returning evil for evil. Oh…and Trump, the man, would be attractive to women if he didn’t have all of that money and fame. Trump, the man, is a YUGE part of the reason why Trump has all of that money & fame in the first place.

Trump’s flaws are in non-consequential aspects for a POTUS, compared to those of the rest. Even (especially?) the Faux-Pious Mike Pence and other GOP politicians of his class. And Biden is corrupt in the most impactful ways. Imagine what could have been accomplished in his first term if fellow Republicans had run a little interference for him. But other things are obviously more important to them. Sad!

Lawyering is hard work. First, you have to get a college degree. OK, that’s not hard work; that’s a four-year summer camp these days. But then you have to get into law school. Once in law school, you waste three years being taught a lot of BS, but they never teach taught how to practice law. I got an ‘A’ in Property Law but was never taught how to buy a house. I got an ‘A’ in Contract Law but never drafted – or even read – a contract. I got an ‘A’ in Civil Procedure but was never taught when to stand up

In 2008, the United States Supreme Court decided in the Heller case that the Second Amendment right to bear arms applies not just to militias, but also to individual people. While militias are mentioned in the Amendment, the noun to which the right is granted is the “people.” Individuals are “people.” After Heller, much teeth-gnashing and garment-rending ensued from the left. They had hoped that the second Amendment applied only to militias. There being essentially no legal militias in the country anymore, that would mean the Second Amendment would apply to nobody.

Yesterday, the special prosecutor (technically called a “special counsel” these days, a term which obfuscates in my opinion) released his report on his investigation of Joe Biden’s mishandling of classified documents. (It was not a good day for the Democrats. On the same day, the Supreme Court signaled in oral argument that they intend to smack down four publicity-hungry Colorado Supreme Court justices/activists who canceled Donald Trump from the Colorado ballot. My condolences to those four partisan hacks whose 15 minutes of fame is about to expire. And my congratulations to the three spirited dissenters on that same court, who’ve been vindicated.)

As I expected and predicted, the Supreme Court will probably decide the Trump/Colorado case in favor of Trump. I doubt the decision will be unanimous. On the liberal side, Justice Sotomayor was outspoken in her questions to Trump’s lawyer (Jonathan Mitchell who was arguing his sixth Supreme Court case). Justice Kagan’s questions, too, suggest to me that she will come down against Trump.

Immediately upon taking office, Joe Biden reversed President Trump’s “stay-in-Mexico” policy. Under that policy, immigrants seeking asylum were required to stay in Mexico or their home country while applying for asylum in the United States. The alternative – followed by the preceding Obama Administration – is for the immigrants to enter the country with the proviso that they have to show up for a hearing some months or years in the future to determine their asylum claim. Of course, many immigrants never showed up for their hearings, and simply remained in the country illegally.

Remember when America’s great cities were great? San Francisco, New York, Chicago and other major cities were centers of art, culture, wealth, sophistication, and shopping. Now, the cities are overrun with vagrants. Liberal judges decided that people have a Constitutional right (see, Martin v. Boise) to camp on the sidewalks and poop in the gutter, because stopping them from doing so constitutes cruel and unusual punishment for violating the laws that prohibit them from doing so.

The governor of Texas says his state is being “invaded” and that under the Constitution he has the right to defend his border. On the first point, millions of people are indeed unlawfully crossing the border into Texas. Joe Biden refuses to do anything about it. In fact, he seems to be encouraging it. He stopped construction of Donald Trump’s border wall, reversed the “stay in Mexico” policy which required immigrants seeking asylum to remain in Mexico pending a decision by American authorities, and, to the extent he accidentally catches illegal immigrants, he usually lets them go

Sensational rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud appeared for an interview over the weekend immediately after leading his Houston Texans to a playoff win. The exhausted, battered, victorious 22-year-old opened with these words: “First and foremost, I just want to give all glory to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.” The game was carried by NBC. They posted Stroud’s postgame interview but, predictably, edited out his opening statement – the very statement that the player himself said was “first and foremost” to him and his terrific game. Stroud is Black. It used to be that liberals tolerated Black displays of religion because they thought such displays were cute

Back in the good old days of Roe v. Wade (unless you were a fetus) we paid poor people to have abortions. Ok, we didn’t pay the money directly to them, but instead paid it through Medicaid to their abortionist. Abortions that were not paid for by Medicaid were almost always paid for by private insurance or were done for free at abortion clinics as a “public service.” It’s safe to say that the killing of hardly any babies was paid for by the mother, except perhaps in a lifelong emotion way. That’s the way we set up the system. We didn’t want such women to have babies.

Many Black activists are agitating for two things. One, they want reparations for the enslavement of some of their ancestors centuries ago, a small fraction of which is to be paid by the people whose ancestors were the enslavers, and a large fraction of which is to be paid by people like me whose ancestors back then were raiding rival clans in the Scottish Highlands without ever setting eyes on a Black person in their entire poor, nasty, brutish and short lives. Two, they want to reinstitute racial segregation. They want Black dorm buildings in college, Black classes, Black this and Black that,

President Joe Biden’s White House has begun referring to border crossers and illegal aliens as “newcomers and “people who are in the country” — a terminology distinction that conflicts with federal immigration law. On Thursday — while promoting a Senate bill to preserve his catch and release network at the United States-Mexico border — Biden’s White House made a passing reference to border crossers and illegal aliens, calling them “newcomers” to the U.S. The White House fact sheet on the Senate bill reads: The bill also includes $1.4 billion for cities and states who are providing critical services to newcomers,

Residents of a Maine town have hit out at the $13 million construction of a complex of 60 apartments for asylum seekers, where they can live rent free for two years then pay a fraction of the rental price. Locals in Brunswick have expressed fury over the project, which is being funded by a mix of private and public money and which has been heavily criticized by Donald Trump Jr. The apartment complex in Brunswick is one of the many projects being launched by the town in what critics have labeled a 'Taj Mahal', red-carpet welcome for asylum seekers.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called a rare midweek press conference on Thursday to emphasize that Israel would continue to fight in Gaza, and defend its interests in spite of international pressure to end the war. Netanyahu spoke in the wake of a stampede in northern Gaza in which dozens of Palestinians were killed as they mobbed humanitarian aid trucks before dawn Wednesday morning. During the chaos, which reportedly occurred in several waves, Israeli soldiers were charged by civilians and opened fire when the crowd ignored warning shots. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said its soldiers were responsible for no more than ten of the deaths in the incident.

Deep into the story we hear from the ever reliable “Gaza Health Ministry.” The AP reports: “At least 112 people were killed, Gaza Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra said. For the men of Thursday’s late night comedy shows, if the “MAGA justices” on the Supreme Court hand Donald Trump a victory by announcing they will hear arguments on his claim to have presidential immunity, it is “terrible news for democracy” because, for them, only when a court rules against Trump is it legitimate. They simply “cannot [bleep] believe” any other version of events. The Court actually agreed to hear the case on an expedited basis, but CBS’s Stephen Colbert declared on The Late Show that “it gets worse because the oral arguments are in April, but Court watchers don't expect a decision until June, and the trial judge has
