During an interview with ABC News on Thursday, White House Senior Adviser Gene Sperling stated that “people have been through a tough few years” but the PCE (Personal Consumption Expenditures) price index reading is “very close to normal” and “prices are moving in the right direction” and “moderating.” But you can’t expect them to not go up.
Sperling said, “It’s been a tough few years since the pandemic,” but “inflation is coming down. In fact, it was really 2.4% in this measure, 2.8% if you don’t include food and gas. And that’s not good enough, but it is very close to normal. And there are a lot of different areas where

U.S. inflation rate for 2021 was 4.70%
U.S. inflation rate for 2022 was 8.00%
U.S. inflation rate for 2023 was 3.40%
This means during Joe's first 3 years, prices have increased 16.1%
And they wont be coming down......even if the inflation rate drops to ZERO!! The prices will remain high

It doesn't matter if inflation is now "close to normal" when almost everything cost 20% more than when Biden was installed.

Actual inflation is more like 25-30% year over year.
No matter what "the whitehouse" is snorting.
Being 35 TRILLION dollars in debt will do that to a currency...

Being retired, my husband and I frequently do our shopping together. Every time he grumbles about the price of an item, I say, “Thank Joe Biden!”. And I say it loudly enough for those around us to hear it. So far, no one has objected or contradicted me.

Gas up about 20 cents this week. Once inflation raises prices, almost nothing causes them to come down, even if the rate of inflation flattens out.
This is surely gallows humor.

I wish the Federal Reserve believed that. Watch the next FOMC meeting then see how the Stock market reacts. That is an inescapable truth.

Excluding food and gas. In other words, basic necessities. We're on the right track! Wage and price controls on the horizon!

It takes a very brazen liar to say such things in public, on TV, when everyone watching knows they are lying and they know it. They are truly pathological.

Regular gas here in Georgia is $3.23 today. And Bidenomics is a disaster here. Everything is still higher than it was when the moron came into office. And prices at grocery store continue to rise.

In the SF Bay area, gas prices are up 30 to 40 cents/gal in the past 2 weeks. A carton of 18 eggs jumped from $4.40 to $6.47 in one week! Yep, inflation is easing and the economy is getting back to normal thanks to Joe Biden and Gavin Newsom. We're all so happy here in CA.....

Four straight years of elevated inflation... Sounds like it's reached "normal" status by now.
Since food is nondiscretionary for most people and fuel affects the price of everything else, the tradition of leaving those out of the equation always seemed insultingly absurd to me.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grammes a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be REDUCED to twenty grammes a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.” - George Orwell, 1984

So.... Lyin' Biden's minion says that inflation is "very close to normal”.
I guess we can look at this four ways:
-They can referencing inflation when 'Jimmah' the peanut man was pResident (inflation was on the order of 14%) -and yes, I REMEMBER!
-They can be refencing the last three years (poster #3 gave values of 4.7%, 8%, and 3.4%), average them and call that 'normal', (that's the average of Price and Wages, and I don't know about you, but My income did not go up AT ALL, so the 'average' is -for me- half of the price increase,
-They are using the same frame of reference as when Lyin' Mayorkas testified to Congress that "The Border Is Secure", as hundreds pour in every day, or
-They are just flat-out lying, knowing that the Lamestreams and Big Tech will cover their behinds.
Take your pick.

FTA: “...inflation is coming down. In fact, it was really 2.4% in this measure, 2.8% if you don’t include food and gas.
How can anyone with even a third grade education, the effective norm in the Biden White House, controlling for DEI at the Ivies, imply that factoring-in food and gas prices would actually lower the rate of inflation by 0.4% (2.8% - 2.4%) during the cycle in which inflation was supposedly measured? Food and gas prices are driving our middle class into a pauper class. But this information came from the folks that repeatedly assured the American people than the border was under control. They make up their own definitions of previously normal words, like "control" and "inflation."

The country might as well drop the penny and nickel. Inflation has made them worthless. I'm so old that at one time I could buy a 12 oz. RC Cola for a nickel.
