Special Counsel David Weiss has charged a former FBI informant with lying about President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden taking $5million bribes from the Ukrainian energy company Burisma.
Alexander Smirnov, 43, is accused of making a false statement and creating a false record for statements he made to the FBI in 2020 and, if convicted, faces a maximum of 25 years in prison.
Smirnov was arrested on Thursday afternoon at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas after arriving the United States from overseas and appeared in federal court in Nevada on Thursday afternoon.

It will be interesting to see how the FBI and U.S. Attorney Weiss explain their four years of delay in reaching this conclusion. If the Justice Department intended to intimidate potential witnesses in Biden's impeachment hearings and trial this indictment could not have been better timed.

Don't cross the Big Guy, even if he does have dementia. He still has well-placed and ruthless friends. He lied when he said Biden got *only* $5,000,000 in bribes.

FTA: "Following the indictment, House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Jamie Raskin, D-MD, called on House Republicans to end their impeachment inquiry."
As they say, "You can indict a ham sandwich."
This stunt by "Deep State" David Weiss is intended to repair the gaping hole taking on water into the good ship Corn Pop just before the election AND to stave off Republican onslaughts at gaining access to subpoenaed materials the FBI still refuses to hand over, in open defiance of a Federal Judges order. If there was "nothing there" then why did they refuse to acknowledge Hunter's Laptop for so long?
The FBI is deeply, deeply compromised and must be disbanded starting from the top without the chance of returning to Federal jobs of any sort.

And yet, Republicans can’t seem to make a case against this illegitimate and lawless administration. Is it because they can’t or is it because they won’t? Either way this administration is running fast and loose with what seems to be a stacked deck always in favor of the democrats.
Seriously, when has a democrat been held responsible for their actions? The breathtaking lawlessness of this heinous administration is destroying our system of justice and democrats are fine with that. Being judge, jury and executioner suits them just fine. They go after any opposition with the enthusiasm of a religious zealot. When is this madness going to end? It certainly appears that democrats have hijacked the department of Justice and are using it as a weapon and that has never been normal in this country until Obama/Biden came along and now it is standard operating procedure. How did Republicans fail to stop this? They don’t even appear to be bothered by these gross inequities which brings me to this quote: The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men to do nothing. ~ Edmund Burke

Um didn't a spy named Steele submit an entirely false dossier in writing to the FBI causing a Schiff storm to the tune of a $34M special counsel and the impeachment of the US President?
Isn't that a far weightier offence down the memory hole? Will no journalist ask the obvious?

"if convicted, faces a maximum of 25 years in prison" - it isn't the accuracy of the charge that matters, it is the seriousness of the charge. Of course he is technically presumed innocent until convicted. That is how criminal suspects are usually referred to in the media. Their writer's guide must be flexible when the matter involve a Democrat president.

Lying to the FBI will get you 25 years if you’re a Republican. If you’re a Democrat you get a gig on CNN.

The informant told the truth. This is witness intimation, and an effort to break him financially and mentally. The DOJ will go after his family, as the FBI operates like the mafia.

Can we stop with all this talk about cleaning up the FBI, CIA, etc? They are beyond any redemption. Heard yesterday a retired Marine Corps Intel Officer on local talk radio who is running to represent the VA 7th Congressional District talk about cleaning up these agencies - he wants to get rid of the political appointees/greatly reduce their numbers and hire more "career" employees. News flash buddy. In the DC area, 99.9% of the so-called "career bureaucrats" are just as lefty as the appointees. Sorry but the FBI and CIA, among others, have totally soiled whatever reputations they once had because of all their election interference over the past decade and they continued attacks on our rights. And Republicans in Congress just keep on funding these agencies along with the bottomless pit that is Ukraine.
Ain't America great? /sarc

This DOJ under Garland, and this FBI under Wray will go down as the most corrupt DOJ and FBI in the history of the Country -- and when you consider what the FBI was under Comey, that says a lot.

How many other informants have been lying about things over the past 7 years?
