As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier this week, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson was spotted in Moscow, amidst swirling speculation that he was in Russia to interview President Vladimir Putin. Later, Tucker himself has confirmed the interview is happening and is explaining why he decided to go forward.
Tucker acknowledged the risks of meeting with such a high-profile leader. But he listed a few reasons why he decided to carry forward.
Tucker revealed the first purpose for conducting the interview is because it is the sworn duty of the press to inform the public.

Did Tucker ask the Barbara Walters question?
'If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?'

How frightened some are of hearing anything that doesn't support their Globalist narrative. I don't necessarily trust Putin, but I appreciate hearing his side of all this.
I actually enjoyed the rather amazing history lesson Putin gave Tucker. Being Orthodox, I obviously knew there was far far more history and background to the Ukraine/Russia conflict.

The Soviet Union imploded 40 years ago. Russia is a different country now. I'm interested in hearing what President Putin has to say. There are two sides to every story. We have been denied any information that is contrary to the official "narrative" that Ukraine is an innocent victim of a land-hungry aggressor Russia. Things are never that simple, not when hundreds of billions of dollars are at stake.
NATO and the European Union are not to be taken as automatically the good guys. It's not 1954, its 2024 and the western world governments have changed drastically. They are more autocratic and despotic, than autonomous and democratic. I dare say that Russian citizens probably have less to fear from the government today than American citizens have from theirs. J6 anyone?

I saw the entire interview. My conclusion, ....I trust Putin more than BiteMe Diaper and Putin cares more about American taxpayers than our Moron-in-Chief.

When the globalists started their hissy fits and gave the marching orders to their media and blogging minions to do the same, you knew we'd been lied to all the time.

We watched the entire interview last night. No Barbara Walters questions, propaganda who know?, I'm GLAD he went and spoke to the Putin, Imagine a journalist doing his JOB. When was the last time a journalist investigated ANYTHING, instead of being a mouthpiece for the left?
It was an interesting interview, his memory and ability to answer questions was impressive, compared to what we have as the POTUS. The contrast was embarrassing. I thought Tucker asked good questions too. So those complaining, watch it before you go off without knowledge.

God forbid we hear from Putin. Those who, would silence him are not very smart. It is always good to hear issues from a different perspective especially a potential rival. Clearly, Putin is proud of his country and is going to make decisions that are good for his people. He understands that the US is declining under the Biden regime. He also understands the depth of corruption that the country has engaged in under democrat and some Republican administrations.
Tucker did an excellent job with the interview. I couldn’t help but wonder how much English Putin understands. I would wager a lot more than he lets on. He is no one’s fool and I believe that President Trump and he could have substantive meetings. The old days of rushing into war is ending and hopefully leaders understand the way forward is in discussion. Putin is no fool and does not trust the US because of Biden’s foolish decision to continue to fund more killing. Who could blame him? No one knows who is running the show over here.

Re #5, the biggest difference in the Soviet Union and current Russia is that the thugs that run things are now out in the open as "oligarchs", essiantially Mafia leaders who own chunks of the former USSR businesses, but mostly the raw material extractive infrastructure. And the murder each other regularly, just like Mafia, when things go against their wishes.
Putin is just the top dog Mafia thug. I spent 10 years working inside their system, and the massive corruption everywhere was a constant thing, seen endlessly, and talked about by the businessmen, scientists and engineers that I worked with.
Is Russia different than the USSR? Yeah, much more completely corrupted, and much more internally violent.
I recommend the excellent book "Darkness at Dawn" for those who want to learn more about the REAL Russia.

I'm amazed that people see that much of what the US government puts out is lies, and yet buys the propaganda put out by Putin as "the inside story" and thinks that now they "really know what's going on".
Sad to see people so easily, transparently fooled, so totally gullible and indignant that anyone would point out their folly.

Calling Putin a thug does us a disservice. He’s their leader. Deal with him. He lets tucker know that the US is in a very weak position right now. As Russia ascends where does the United States go. We have spent the whole time since World War 2 picking loser nations, starting wars, stealing third world treasure and, not acting in our own interests. If we don’t wake up soon we will wake up to the failure we have brought on ousresleve.

#s 2, 12 & 13, you really need to give it a rest. You are entitled to your opinion, as are the rest of the LDotter posters. Characterizing those who disagree with you (over and over and over again) as ignorant stooges does nothing to endear people to your point of view. And, everything you described about Putin could just as easily be said about the Clintons, Obama and Biden. Why so afraid of letting people hear or have a different opinion? It makes much more sense to dismiss US government propaganda about everything including Russia as opposed to making this one exception.

Conservatives have always valued free discourse and the ability of individuals to decipher the many conflicting arguments they are presented and then form their own opinions. We the People, who have been forced to fund this conflict, have been inundated for 2+ years with NATO's arguments on Ukraine. Is it not time to hear Russia's concerns and thoughts on this conflict?
Shaming and silencing your opponents opinions has always been a tool of the Left. On college campuses, Leftist radicals have run off how many Conservatives with this tactic?
