Joe Biden’s antitrust halt of PGA-LIV
merger is just par for the course

Original Article

For people out there who love pro golf and want the best of the best competing against each other every week, you better hope Donald Trump is your next president, and it’s not just because the former president is such a golf fanatic. It’s because of the type of regulatory apparatus he will install if elected, a free-market one that will greenlight the much-needed merger of the PGA Tour and the upstart LIV Golf league. Yes, the nonsensical hatred of all things M&A by the leftists in the Biden administration has been horrible for US businesses and the economy. It also could maim professional golf.

Comments:

The PGA had a monopoly on professional golf tournaments - - before LIV was created - - but they're not allowed to have a monopoly after LIV was created. Do you see how that works?

The kneejerk haters in the Brandon administration are against anything Trump is for. There doesn't have to be a reason. Like it or not, the Saudis have involved themselves in professional golf. Their first client was the European Tour aka the DP World Tour several years ago after they purchased a stake in the tour. The idea for what has become the LIV Tour has been kicking around since the late 'Eighties. Other sports have seen their biggest stars paid enormous amounts; it was time for professional golfers to achieve financial parity with other professional athletes. There is no logical treason why this stupid administration would try to ruin the agreement between the PGA Tour and the LIV Tour (which recently paid Jon Rahm $600,000,000 to join and play LIV). It all has to do with Trump hatred. A meteor should hit Brandon. He ruins everything he touches.

Sorry, but FJB hit this one way out of bounds. Close the border not the Golf Tours. LIV is an international tour that plays a couple of events in America. The PGA Tour is an American monopoly golf tour. It controls the tours at all levels of play. FJB has no business mucking about in the sand traps of professional golf.

As stated by our resident professional, “ . . . it was time for professional golfers to achieve financial parity with other professional athletes.” A few years ago, I compared the 2005 PGA Tour money list to the 2015 list. The top players earned considerably more in 2015 vs 2005. But in 2015, the guys at 100-125 on the money list earned essentially the same as in 2005. This happened during the tenure of former PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem who is a long time democrat activist. He transformed the tournament formerly known as the Bob Hope Desert Classic into a cash cow for the Clinton Foundation. In 2016 under Finchem’s watch, the popular 54-year tour stop Doral Open was dropped and moved to Mexico City. There were allegations the move was partly motivated by politics because DJT owns the Doral Resort.

Stopped following the PGA when they dropped Dural, because it is Trump’s course, from the circuit. None of the players, with the possible exception of Jack Nicklaus, stood up for Trump. Was reminded again of the Erudite White Trash that inhabits the PGA with the LIV issue. These genuses were out spoken about Saudi money being bad. Duh, Trump got us off Middle Eastern oil. He ended more Saudi money than is imaginable. ,

Just got back to San Diego from Monterey, beating the weather. Great time as usual. Spyglass on Thursday, PB on Friday. Hit in the chest by an amateur's errant second shot on the fly. It hurt for a few minutes, but I improved his lie. Off topic, but I thought I'd share.

It’s a NYCHA-mare. New York City Housing Authority staffers allegedly have no problem fixing government contracts, but residents regularly wait more than two months for them to fix clogged tubs, leaky faucets, and broken refrigerators. NYCHA workers took an average of 65.4 days to complete non-emergency repairs during the fiscal year ending June 30, records reviewed by The Post Show. The glacial pace is 33% slower than the previous year when it took 49.1 days, and a whopping 242% worse than fiscal 2019, when the average repair time was 19.4 days.

Embattled District Attorney Fani Willis has been accused of lying about the timeline of her relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade in a bombshell new court filing. Mike Roman, who alongside Donald Trump is being charged with election fraud by Wade and Willis in Fulton County, Georgia, made a late Friday filing in the case. In it, his lawyers claim Wade’s former law partner Terrence Bradley will testify their romantic relationship began before he was appointed to prosecute in 2021, according to the Washington Post.

Calling for governments to enact a "global moratorium" on COVID-19 mRNA vaccines could have been a death sentence for a scientist's career not long ago. Now it opens the door to a prestigious science publisher. The Springer Nature medical journal Cureus, sibling to Nature and Scientific American, published a peer-reviewed paper by high-profile mRNA vaccine critics last month, showing the growing mainstream openness to data and arguments once nitpicked if not ignored by publishers and suppressed by academia and Big Tech.

Canada offers medically assisted death to terminally and chronically ill people, but the plan to extend the program to people with mental illnesses has divided Canadians, the New York Times reported. Some critics attribute the problem to a lack of adequate psychiatric care in the country.

They state that “if ever there were a time to do so, now would be it,” and insist that if the president “is not competent to stand trial, then he is certainly not competent to lead the free world.” While highlighting evidence of America’s oldest ever president “willfully” mishandling classified documents, Special Counsel Hur’s report details Biden’s significant cognitive decline — perhaps more politically damning than his handling of classified materials.

Joe Biden, senior aides and political observers strongly criticised the special counsel, Robert Hur, for extensively discussing the president’s age and allegedly fading memory in his report on Biden’s retention of classified information from his time as a senator and as vice-president – which did not produce an indictment. Hur, who Donald Trump appointed US attorney for Maryland, “could not refrain from investigative excess”, said Bob Bauer, Biden’s personal counsel. Though this was “perhaps unsurprising given the intense pressures of the current political environment”, Bauer added, the final report “flouts Department [of Justice] regulations and norms”.
