Canada halts controversial assisted suicide
program for mentally ill due to lack of

Canada has delayed the extension of its assisted suicide program to people suffering solely from mental illness, health officials announced Monday. Canada offers medically assisted death to terminally and chronically ill people, but the plan to extend the program to people with mental illnesses has divided Canadians, the New York Times reported. Some critics attribute the problem to a lack of adequate psychiatric care in the country.

Good idea. #3. B-complex and vit D, and get out into the sunlight, or sit in front of windows where the sun shines in. If possible, take an aspirin for pain. Check with doctor on that one, but people need anti-inflammatories OTC, motrin etc, being very careful about dosing. Also, find some really funny movies to watch. Read a humorous book. Laugh. Will problems go away? probably not immediately, but one's approach to life will begin to change. And pray.

If someone has a true mental illness, vitamins and sunshine won't cure a thing. It's sad to watch someone you love go through this. There are medications that work for a lot of people. The only problem is they don't like 'the way it makes them feel' and many times stop taking it. But I agree, they should not be allowed assisted suicide. They are not mentally capable of making that decision.

The Canadian government is big on euthanasia, offering to off anyone whose life is somewhat unpleasant. When Canadians who were not terminally ill were given a choice to end it all, it didn't look good to the outside world. Getting rid of people is what the Malthusian left want to do. Justin Castreau is a chip off the old block, Fidel Jr. in the flesh.

I wonder how much Tucker Carlson's recent speech in Canada had to do with this "delay." I watched it, and he talked extensively about how the Canadian government was killing its own citizens.

For people out there who love pro golf and want the best of the best competing against each other every week, you better hope Donald Trump is your next president, and it’s not just because the former president is such a golf fanatic. It’s because of the type of regulatory apparatus he will install if elected, a free-market one that will greenlight the much-needed merger of the PGA Tour and the upstart LIV Golf league. Yes, the nonsensical hatred of all things M&A by the leftists in the Biden administration has been horrible for US businesses and the economy. It also could maim professional golf.

Stacey Abrams' liberal voting rights group Fair Fight is laying off most of its staffers and reducing its operations in response to increasing legal debts. Lauren Groh-Wargo, who led the group until she stepped down to run Abrams' second unsuccessful Georgia gubernatorial run in 2022, said she would return to the organization as interim chief executive to direct the cuts, The New York Times reported Tuesday. Fair Fight is laying off 75% of its current staffers, or 20 employees, per Groh-Wargo, as the group is $2.5 million in debt with $1.9 million cash on hand even after raising about $100 million from 2018 to 2021.

The Gateway project to build two new badly needed tunnels for trains under the Hudson River is already running two years behind schedule — even though it just broke ground, a federal audit shows. Officials at the Gateway Development Commission have publicly stated that by 2038 they will have finished digging and constructing the new tunnels and then rehabilitate the two existing trans-Hudson tubes, which were badly damaged by Superstorm Sandy. However, the audit performed for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Transit Administration shows the work will likely take until 2040.

The study, titled "Can Selecting the Most Qualified Candidate Be Unfair?," examined people’s perceptions of merit-based hiring after learning more about the socioeconomic status of potential workers. While previewing the results, it argued that hiring the most qualified candidate could contribute to more inequality. Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has been looking for ways to move up in the primary race against former President Donald Trump as they are moving closer to the South Carolina primary, and she's still some 30 points behind. She came in third in Iowa and second in New Hampshire after everyone else dropped out. If she loses South Carolina, people are going to call the race done even if she stays in since that's where one might expect her to do the best — in her home state. But right now, South Carolina is leaning heavily toward Trump.

President Joe Biden won the South Carolina primary on Saturday, the contest that revitalized his 2020 campaign and now has given him his first official victory in his bid for a second term. The Associated Press declared Biden the winner at 7:23 p.m. based on an analysis of initial vote results showing him with a decisive lead in key locations throughout the state. At the time the race was called, Biden was leading statewide with about 97% of the vote, nearly double the 49% he received in the 2020 primary. Almost an hour after the race was called, Biden’s vote percentage remained largely unchanged at about 97%.
