An activist investor has urged BP to ditch its green strategy and continue to cash in on oil and gas. Bluebell Capital Partners wrote to the energy giant’s chairman Helge Lund with concerns about how the FTSE 100 energy giant is run. The London-based hedge fund blasted BP’s green transition plan as ‘irrational’ and said the strategy has depressed its share price. Investors are concerned that BP is underperforming compared with rival Shell and US energy giants Exxon Mobil and Chevron. Shell has scaled back its net zero transition strategy under the leadership of chief executive Wael Sawan. And American energy firms have doubled down on oil and gas production.

The Looney plan: Corporate suicide. How can you be a successful oil/petroleum corporation if you do not produce oil and petroleum? Former leader Looney truly lived up to his name.

In 2003 British Petroleum (BP) said that BP stands for Beyond Petroleum. Since that time I don't not why a person or company would have invested in the company.

Some fifteen years ago BP was running their commercial "Beyond Petroleum." I would curse out loud and tell BP through the television that they are a damn oil company, so go out and produce more of what the world needs, which is oil. Forget alternative energy, which is energy poor. Give us what works, and stop trying to get on the good side of the Greens, who do not have a good side.

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is rushing through a tax bill unveiled days ago over significant policy objections from both conservative and centrist factions of the Republican Party. Conservatives have spoken out against provisions in the bill they see as handouts to illegal immigrants, particularly an expansion of the Child Tax Credit without language requiring the parent to have a Social Security number. They argue the expansion would serve as an additional powerful migration pull, even as migrant encounters at the border reach record highs under President Joe Biden.

A man from Mississippi has been charged with a hate crime after he allegedly badly damaged a Satanic display at Iowa's capitol building in Des Moines in December. The damaged display included a statue of the pagan idol Baphomet. [SNIP] Michael Cassidy, a former Mississippi congressional candidate, was charged after the vandalism with misdemeanor fourth-degree criminal mischief. He said at the time, "My conscience is held captive to the word of God, not to bureaucratic decree. And so I acted." That charge was upgraded, according to court documents reported on by the Des Moines Register, accusing Cassidy of committing felony third-degree criminal mischief.

According to the Ohio Department of Justice, Aimenn Penny was sentenced Monday to 216 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Penny went to the Community Church of Chesterland on March 25 and lobbed Molotov cocktails at the building in an attempt to burn it to the ground, authorities said. UPS says it will cut 12,000 jobs following a disappointing sales outlook for the year. The layoffs come just five months after the company reached a major union deal. The job cuts will help the company save $1 billion in costs, CEO Carol Tome said in a call Tuesday morning. Manager and contract roles will be the most impacted. Labor negotiations last year threatened to disrupt package deliveries for millions of customers, before a deal with Teamsters was reached. As consumers feared potential strikes, they took their business to rival companies, like FedEx. UPS expects to gain most of that business back, but so far has only won back 60% of it.
