The prospect of a Donald Trump return to the White House in 2024 poses a “fundamental” challenge to Europe, the leader of the world’s largest investment company warned Tuesday.
The Daily Telegraph reports BlackRock vice chairman Philipp Hildebrand issued his caution from the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.
In doing so he added his voice to the swelling chorus from Europe that fears a Trump return to the world stage.
The veteran Swiss banker said the re-election of the former U.S. president “would challenge Europe fundamentally” given Trump’s determination to embrace America First in matters from trade to diplomacy, NATO funding, and climate policy.

No more new high-speed trains. No more month-long vacations. No more traveling to the U.S. because it's half the price than Americans have to pay to fly to Europe. Plus, Americans don't have that much time off. No more retirement with full benefits at 62. Europeans might just have to work until (God help us) until they'll 68 or 70.

Too bad for you if Trump wins. Great for us, we won’t have to put up with Joe or the liberal nuts in DC & elsewhere. Pay for your own defense instead of us sending manpower and money. Europe really lives too high on the hog.

FTA: “For his part, Hildebrand urged Europe to seize the opportunity to transform itself into a technological superpower that was less dependent on America. He added Europe’s capabilities on defence were “just not there” and required a rethink. Hildebrand said:
I see it as an opportunity for the construction of Europe.“
Maybe a fundamental challenge is not a bad thing. Like the child living in your basement, challenge him her to go forth into the world.
Blackrock supports Trump but has to be cautious about what it says to the child in the basement to avoid a tantrum?

Just let them make wine and chocolates - - and we'll do all the dangerous and heavy lifting.

Blackrock probably heavily invested in all things green, all things foreign, and all things woke. The exact opposite of MAGA.

I was already for Trump, but he just gave me even more reasons to work harder to elect him. Imagine an American president who wants to look out for American citizens and their interests? Wow, what a concept.

Not just Europe but every leftist malcontent in the world. The next time that Europe is attacked by somebody powerful enough to wipe out the entire continent, don't worry, America will not interfere.

what could possibly be the outcome? ....
- the European nations would have to stand on their own two feet and make earthshaking decisions on their own? ....
- that's called "maturity" which doesn't seem to be a valued personality trait in Europe

America first??? We don't want to hear that. They should be last. WE are the important people in Europe. Let the stupid Americans pay most of the Ukraine money, we support them with a loudmouth, but that's it. Money stays in our pockets. We should pay for our fair shares in Nato etc. What are these Americans thinking that we should pay as well. Good grief, how stupid and uncultured are these European morons???

The EU has its panties in a twist thinking about how they would have to pony up their own money to protect themselves.
