Donald Trump repeatedly shook his head in disgust as a New York judge told potential jurors in his defamation trial that he sexually assaulted columnist E. Jean Carroll.
The former president, 77, was in a Manhattan courtroom on Tuesday just hours after his landslide victory in the Iowa Republican caucus.
Carroll's lawyers want Trump to pay $10million in damages for calling her a liar after she claimed he raped her in a dressing room in a luxury department store in 1996.A previous civil jury has already found him liable for sexually abusing her at Bergdorf's, a luxury department store in Manhattan, in 1996

She can't remember when it happened. AND her description of Bergdorf Goodman ( said location ) was completely inaccurate.

I fail to see how saying someone who is calling you a rapist can claim defamation when you claim that they are lying. Is Trump not allowed to defend himself? Is there any type of appeal for fraudulent civil cases where the NY Legislature passed a special law aimed at enabling someone to specifically sue you (and others if they happened to have similar claims during that specific time frame)?

she claims that suing Trump cost her her decades long job at Elle magazine..except, the Owners/editors at Elle all hate trump anyway.
She lost her job as a "Relationship Expert" because part of her damage claims against Trump included that she has not had a relationship of any kind since 1996, hasn't even been on a Date.
Her entire adult Life and Career was/is a LIE.
Now she wants $10Million for being called a "Liar"

Careful what you wish for, New Yorkers will come to rue the day that they made this kind of garbage accusation legit. It will be open season on every rich man in NYC. This case is a disgrace from start to finish and the Judge and jury should be ashamed of themselves. The woman cannot even say when this supposed attack happened 30 or so years ago. Kangaroo court is too good a word for this.

The very idea that a person could be raped in Bergdorf Goodman is preposterous. Bergdorfs should sue this liar for defamation.

There is not the slightest trace of evidence that they were ever within a mile of each other at any time, ever.
There is zero evidence that Trump touched her.

Basically NY passed a "bill of attainer" to get Trump. Which is unconstitutional, by the way. Oh, and didn't the last court that screwed Trump with the judgement find that Trump did not rape this doofus?
I guess Trump needs a change of venue to a fairer jurisdiction. Like Tehran.

The prior jury declined/exonerated Trump of the "Rape" allegations, her STILL calling him a "Rapist" is defamation, him calling her a liar for calling him a "Rapist" is not.
That jury DID accept her claim(with zero proof) that he "Touched her", hence the term sexual "assault". Her clothes stayed on, his clothes stayed on, the entire event...even in her own telling...lasted mere seconds, not even minutes.
Still...all would be moot, but for the sudden/temporary waiver of Statute of Limitation on THIS particular crime, and for a ONE year period. Until very recently, as the deadline was fast approaching and the Law of Limitations would be returning to "Normal" This case against Trump was the ONLY one. During the final 2 weeks of last year half a dozen other cases were filed against other rich/famous individuals.

Of course there is no link between this and landslide victory in the Iowa, its just a coincidence that it occurred just hours after. Wink wink.

I suspect this dame was a stalker. Ever seen a photo of this pathetic looking thing? No one would want even a date with her. Trump did not have to run after this nothing to rape her. Women ran after Trump and his money. She is a joke. Possibly paid for by Soros?

Can someone clarify whether Donald Trump had a criminal trial with E. Jean Carroll's accusations? I am not talking about the civil trial to be clear. If he didn't, how can a judge SAY he sexually assaulted E. Jean Carroll. Why isn't Donald Trump's lawyer asking these kind of questions because it is every person's right to defend accusations.

Hyperbole inflation wipes out the communication value of language. If being accused of touching somebody momentarily through clothes is now "rape", what do we call coerced intercourse? Whoever dreamed dreamed that up ought to be convicted of raping our language.

So I still don't know if Donald Trump had a criminal trial, I will highlight another thought of mine. Guess what E. Jean Carroll has set into motion. Women who have been violated any time in history can now file lawsuits against their perpetrator and a criminal trial is not necessary.
My biggest question is why she didn't accuse Donald Trump of rape in 1996? Why wasn't there a complaint filed with Bergdorf's. After all, Donald Trump was a well-known person. I thought rape was a criminal act and should be tried in a court system? How can a CIVIL jury find him liable without a criminal trial?
Maybe I should seek revenge all these years later. . .
