In the latest example of corporate stupidity, three sporting goods employees were fired for chasing a man who stole a pistol. Apparently, trying to stop someone from stealing a deadly weapon is against company policy.

This is yet another story in which a major company punishes employees for trying to protect it from entitled thugs who think they have the right to take what they want.
Michelle Sutton, along with two other unidentified workers at the Academy Sports + Outdoors in Metairie, Louisiana, said that the shoplifting incident happened Dec. 16.

Louisiana is an absolute judicial hell hole, if the employees were chasing the shoplifting suspect thru the parking lot and the suspect tripped the suspect would sue Academy and win. That’s why that policy is in effect.

Academy was a great Texas owned sporting goods store up until a few years ago when they sold out to giant corporation

Idiots running companies, happy to help thieves with crimes. Absolute insanity. How do these fools remain in charge of big companies?

Academy has the brand and serial number. When used in a crime, that gun will be traced back to Academy. The victim and the victim's family will cost them more than a fired employee's lawsuit.

I'm sorry -- firing may be a bit overboard - but no stolen property or money isn't worth an employee's life. Chasing after thugs like this is dangerous -- ask any cop -- it's why they carry weapons on them. I might not fire them but I would sure yell a lot. I had a guy wait till my register was open and grab a handful of twenties -- I chased him out the door and ended up with a pistol in my face. If my employees hadn't come out the back door and scared him -- I'd probably be dead. My boss ripped me a new one.

No common sense here. So, the guy could sue for being chased? He didn’t have to run, he made that decision. A bad decision, but it was his decision.

Last time I bought a gun from a store (very much like Academy), the clerk would not let me touch the gun without my drivers license in his hand. Then they would not take the lock off it so I could work the action. Then, after I paid for it, they took the lock off but still wouldn't let me touch it till they put it in my car, with warnings not to load or fire it till I was off their property.
I guess it didnt occur to the geniuses that I was carrying a concealed .357 the whole time I was in their stupid store.
I'll probably buy there again as they deeply discount, but it isn't pleasant.

There needs to be an active boycott of stores which support Thievery... These stores increase the opportunities for people to be killed or injured because of the increase in crime. They need to be held accountable!

Everyone is blasting the store/CEO, owners, and rightly so, but let's not forget the lawyers, judges, and lying media/DNC, woke police chiefs/commanders, town councils, county commissioners, and all the others in play who share the blame for this insanity. A huge percentage, (50% and higher in certain areas) of our nation do not hold to the traditional Judeo-Christian morality and now blindly conform to mob rule and fear based decisions. Remember the criminality of the 2020 riots that were supported and not prosecuted, the incarceration/prosecution of the J-6 protestors, the Ashli Babbit murder... the list of examples is absurd.

The criminal Black left strikes again. Don't fret I'm Black so according to that same left I can't be racist for my statement. Or as a law-abiding Conservative, can I?
