An armed attacker opened fire inside a rural Iowa high school on the first day back from winter break Thursday morning, shooting “multiple” people before reportedly turning the gun on themself. The principal of Perry High School, 40 miles northwest of Des Moines, was reportedly among what police said were “multiple gunshot victims” as the mass shooting unfolded at 7:47 a.m. The rampage came before the opening bell when “very few students and faculty” were in the building “which contributed to a good outcome in that sense,” Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante said at a press conference later in the morning.

Comments:

Article didn't say if the school district maintains a 'gun free zone' or if they allow armed LEOs or teachers at the school.

Before turning the gun on themself? Multiple shooters? Or obligatory ambiguity in pronouns? (smh) Yet another loss of clarity in communication from pandering to the gender-confusion demographic.

Tyson's Food meat packing plant is a major employer in Perry, Iowa. So.....huge numbers of illegal aliens live and work there, with no effort whatsoever to do any enforcement of the laws against their illegal working. I wonder if the shooter has a beef with Mexican gangs?

Online information indicates 40% latino in Perry, no doubt because of the big Tyson meat plant. The overwheliming majority of workers in midwestern meat packing plants are illegal aliens from Mexico and south of there.

There was just an update held. There were 6 victims hurt. A 6th grader was killed, 4 students and an administrator were injured. The shooter, Dylan Butler, apparently shot himself. He had a shotgun and small caliber hand gun and an incendiary device that was disarmed by police. Because of the ongoing investigation, they are not commenting about the cause. Sorry, but this isn't that far from where I live so, yes it has affected me. Some of the comments being made here are uncalled for. Jumping to conclusion with NO evidence is not what is needed. Granted this article is the NY Post, so it is lacking. Check out KCCI.com, KQAD.com or any other news station in Iowa for better new coverage. It looks like the red state article may have captured some social media stuff before it was removed.

TSA Assistant Federal Security Director Maxine McManaman was arrested in Atlanta by U.S. Customs and Border Protection on Dec. 28. McManaman had a warrant for her arrest posted by the St. Lucie County (Florida) Sheriff’s Office, which claimed she and an alleged accomplice named Delroy Chambers Sr. exploited a relative suffering from dementia by falsifying documents in their name, according to Port St. Lucie Police. The Florida authorities allege that the duo forged signatures on a quitclaim deed transferring ownership of a property in the relative's name over to themselves.

We are about to embark on what might be one of the wildest years in the history of American politics, and it may end up merely a prelude. If 2024 is set to be tumultuous and unpredictable, just wait until 2025 if Donald Trump wins the presidency again this year. His adversaries don’t have a history of accepting his victories with equanimity. Trump’s unexpected victory in 2016 launched conspiracy theories about how Russia had helped him win; catalyzed a years-long law enforcement investigation into him and his campaign based on those theories; and set off protests in the streets. All that was mild, given what may yet be in the offing.
