Ohio’s GOP governor vetoes ban on gender-affirming

Republican Gov. Mike DeWine vetoed a measure Friday that would have banned gender-affirming care for minors and transgender athletes’ participation in girls and women’s sports, in a break from members of his party who championed the legislation. GOP lawmakers hold enough seats to override DeWine’s veto, but if or when they would do so was not immediately clear. Both within and between chambers, Republican legislators have not been in lockstep this year. In a news conference Friday, DeWine said he had listened to people on both sides of the legislation who “truly believe their position best protects children.”

You cannot cure a mental health issue by cutting of body parts or injecting yourself with foreign hormones and a male wearing a training bra and panties is still a male with a huge physical advantage over biological females. Seems to make sense to me but I guess not in Ohio.

Think about this. Who in their right mind thinks this is ok? No one. Not even those who are for it think it’s ok. So, why? Money? Threats? Intimidation? Political power? All of the above?

This, together with their recent affirmation of abortion without limits, marks Ohio as one of the places of the USA most hostile to women and children. A place that was largely reclaimed from marshland is steadily regressing into a stinky swamp.

Biden used the concept of "stillness" as a stand-in for Jesus, which is bizarre since babies are rarely still and Christians don't give gifts to celebrate a "still" birth. "This Christmas Eve," Biden said, "my wish for you and your family is that you take a few moments of quiet reflection and find that stillness that's at the center of the Christmas story.

The fact that it takes more than good poll numbers and flawed opponents to win in a polarized political climate can itself be summed up in one of the most futile phrases of the past few years: the “red wave.” Just two years ago, Republicans looked to have a chance
