Gov. Gavin Newsom to Offer Health Insurance
to the World’s Migrants in 2024 If They
Can Get to California

Beginning January 1, 2024, illegal aliens residing in California will become eligible for taxpayer-funded health insurance — the first state in the nation to enact such a policy. In June of this year, Newsom touted the budget agreement that will make California the first state in the United States to offer health insurance, subsidized by taxpayers, to the state’s estimated 4.4 million illegal aliens so long as they are low-income.Starting in the new year, illegal aliens in California will qualify for Medi-Cal, which is California’s state-funded version of the federal government’s Medicaid program. Since 2015, only illegal alien children qualified for Medi-Cal thanks to then-Gov. Jerry Brown (D).

Texas needs to give fliers to all those illegals pouring into their state telling them about free insurance in California. Might just empty their state for a bit.

Let's see, expand benefits for those who don't work and don't pay taxes, forcing fed up working taxpayers to leave the state and enticeing more non-workng non-taxpaying recipients to move in. Now THERE's a recipe for disaster. Who is the genius who thought THIS up? Oh, right. The governor who wants to be president. Every time I see his face I reflexively check for my wallet.

This a generous offer from the governor of a State with a $68 billion deficit due to lost revenue from people fleeing. What is Newsom hoping to gain? Is he in such a liberal bubble that he doesn’t understand how citizens are feeling about illegal immigration? We don’t want to offer them free anything. Sorry for the second comment, but another thought occurred to me. This program is the product of the obsolete 1960's assumption that people are tied to their workplaces, that the taxpayers are helpless because they must stay in California for their jobs. But covid destroyed that workplace tether. With a sizeable portion of the workforce now working remotely, liking it, and refusing to go back to the office, not only could they work from their home in the suburbs, but they could also work from .... there it is .... a different state. Leave California and still keep the same job with the same employer. Uh oh.

A 68 billion dollar state budget deficit this year and over 140 billion in state dept. Government agencies are cutting budgets for activities the actually benefit the state (if inefficiently) and cutting staff (and probably instituting furloughs). But Newsom has money to spend. The coastals keep voting Democrat, so Newsom has money to spend. Of course the vote counts might be different if voter ID and election day only voting were the rule but.......mail in ballots for everyone.

Just in time for the election, some might think after reading the headline. Forbes reports, Despite this unprecedented level of loan forgiveness, the relief is still only a fraction of the nearly $2 trillion in outstanding student loan debt that Americans carry. And the amount of debt cancellation so far falls short of the sweeping student debt relief that President Joe Biden had intended to implement as part of his broad-based loan forgiveness plan that the Supreme Court rejected last summer. Still, top officials are touting the achievements and assuring borrowers that additional relief is coming.
