President Joe Biden called the mass-shooting in Maine 'another senseless and tragic mass shooting' and urged residents to 'heed the warnings and guidance of local officials' as the suspect remains at large.
He also said the federal government wasn't doing enough to deter such events and called on Republicans in Congress to work with him on legislation to ban assault rifles and expand background checks.
'Today, in the wake of yet another tragedy, I urge Republican lawmakers in Congress to fulfill their duty to protect the American people. Work with us to pass a bill banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines,

... and now we'll hear the same ignorant & cowardly bleating about "outlawing" a specific weapon when instead, we ought to be reviewing the way society handled the mentally ill. You know, those who posed a danger by institutionalizing them instead of fluffing Big Pharma's profits with psych prescriptions.
You know... the system that was in place _before_ madness made headlines constantly.

The Israelis could have defended themselves from Hamas if they had had their guns. Considering how reckless the Administration is about letting unknown people across the border there is no reason for people to feel safe from a similar rampage.

After what happened in Israel the chances of a ban on self defense weapons is unlikely to pass. We live in a dangerous world and people have a right to defend themselves. Typically Quid Pro Joe is trying to turn a national tragedy into a political talking point. A truly disgusting excuse for a human being.

A few thoughts:
- How many shootings and homicides occurred in Chicago (or every other metropolitan area) just this weekend alone?
- Define 'assualt weapon'. The left wouldn't know an assault weapon if it shot them in the you-know-where. Hint: "It's scary looking" doesn't qualify.
- How many homicidal maniacs and criminals does the left expect will abide by an "assault weapons ban"?

What weapons are the cops and guard members searching for this "Certified Crazy" mass shooter carrying as they hunt for him? Govt response which they say is the immediate SOLUTION to this "problem" is flooding the streets with the very weapons systems he insists banning. It is the equivalent of saying only govt can posses 10mm sockets and ratchets, average citizens can only own crescent wrenches to deal with Nuts that are loose.
IF due to this crazy persons mental incarceration for two weeks earlier this summer, he had been banned from access to firearms, confined to a safe environment, or received "effective" treatment, this never would have happened. IF any persons at the scene of his attack had been sufficiently armed to STOP him...it would have ended immediately. And "sufficiently armed" includes the very same weapons systems this Nut was carrying, It MUST include them, because they are the exact weapons systems the Govt has now deployed in response, only they are doing so ineffectually, and after the fact...there are literally thousands of ar15 style weapons suddenly now in the area, carried openly to make the citizens "Feel Safer".
This town was already SO disarmed that not a single shot was fired back at the crazy guy running around shooting at people. Actual history of EVERY mass shooting event clearly confirms that "Innocent people stop being targeted the very MOMENT someone, anyone, fires back at the attacker"

It's not the gun it is the person who is holding the gun. Millions and millions of Americans own guns and NEVER use them for a crime. And with this nut on the loose I'd feel better with a gun in my possession. FJB

Biden says he wants to end immunity from liability for gun manufacturers. That is a lie. Gun manufacturers are not immune. The creepy goon wants to bankrupt the firearms industry.

The shooter had been involuntarily committed for demonstrable mental health problems.
"Common sense" gun control laws failed again so to avoid loopholes and inept bureaucracy
a simple solution. Grab guns.

All they will need to do is get their foot in the door, ban one gun, then ban them all. I suspect these shootings are not actually random. Make of that what you will.

Yo, Joe...there were more people killed by drunken drivers, meth addicts, and gang violence last weekend than domestic GSWs like the one in Maine...
how are the laws prohibiting those crimes working out?
Here's a hint...neither guns, cars, nor drugs kill people...people use those objects to kill people.

No. Bans on ordinary guns are unconstitutional. And regardless of the anti-gun hysteria, these are ordinary, very common rifles.
All rifles, which includes these "bad guns" and tons of hunting and target rifles, all lumped together, account for about 1 murder in 35. Hands, feet and elbows are used to kill often than ALL rifles. Add in blunt instruments to the hands, feet, knees and elbows and you get three times as many murdered with those than ALL rifles. These "bad rifles" that the antigunners don't like the looks of probably represent less than 1/3 of the "all rifles" numbers, but they aren't divided that way in the data.
So "assault weapons" probably represent around 1 murder in 100, while hands and feet and blunt instruments represent about 6 in 100.
Most murders? ----- handguns, ordinary, run of the mill, standard handguns.

This guy was not permitted guns. He got em anyway. His targets were not permitted guns in his selected shooting range. They were law abiding targets.
These days every citizen should be required to carry with exemptions given due to religious grounds or mental deficiencies.
Protect yourselves, because government won't.

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room - mental illness. Thanks to the “compassionate” among us, we decided to help mainstream those with mental issues. No one paid any attention to the mentally ill after the mental hospitals were closed. The poor souls were on their own. What did anyone expect?? The alleged shooter in Maine was known to be having some mental problems AND he was/is a firearms instructor. No one picked this up?? How does this happen?

I just check with my friends who own AR-15 arms. Not one of them got a rogue model that went on a tragic shooting spree. To a man, their guns are safely stowed and had no involvement in this event. I blame the crazed shooter.

I wish Tater Joe would worry more about the 100k+ fentanyl deaths or maybe millions of illegal immigrants that are wrecking our social safety net. There are so many more serious problems but Joe can only latch on the one that he sort remembers from the 1990’s.

Seen elsewhere: Drunk drivers occasionally kill sober drivers. To address this, sober drivers should be banned from driving.
That’s how “gun control” works.

People who are mentally ill cannot legally purchase firearms under the provisions of the current gun control laws, again Biden is skipping over the fact that the shooter is a “nut job” and is blaming a firearm that is an inanimate object, that could not have fired one round if the nut job did not squeeze the trigger.

Once again, there are millions of law-abiding citizens who own AR-15's. If they were truly a problem, everyone would know. Honestly, we would save a lot more lives in this country if we outlawed lie-berals!!!!!
