While the White House dithered around, sending Americans trapped in Israel to Cyprus and other foreign locations, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis cut through the bureaucratic red tape to fly nearly 300 Floridians home to safety on Sunday. Last week, just five days after the attack on Israel, which left thousands dead and injured, DeSantis signed an executive order “authorizing rescue operations in Israel to bring Floridians home,” according to his X post on Oct. 12. “We will not leave our residents behind. To the many Floridians who are stuck in Israel, trying to get home—help is on the way.”

IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari says the Navy’s elite Shayetet 13 commando unit and the 401st Armored Brigade have raided Gaza City’s Rantisi Hospital, which treats children, and that Hamas operatives were holed up there. He says he has just returned from the hospital, having filmed there, and that the IDF has evidence indicating that hostages were held there.
“Underneath the hospital, in the basement, we found a Hamas command and control center, suicide-bomb vests, grenades, AK-47 assault rifles, explosive devices, RPGs, and other weapons, computers, money, etc,” Hagari says, in an English-language press conference.

Her death was confirmed to JTA by multiple activists who said they were in touch with Silver’s family. Shifra Bronznick, a prominent Jewish social justice activist and lifelong friend of Silver’s, learned from Silver’s son that her remains were identified via her DNA.

I have been following London’s decline for a while now, and have written a fair amount about the societal decline in Britain.
I often speak of Western culture, and the Anglosphere as a subset of it. Generally speaking, the Anglosphere comprises Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, and the USA–the countries that not only predominately speak English, but whose traditions and legal practices derive from English Common Law and the Scottish Enlightenment.
Obviously, these countries differ in important respects. Still, aside from knowing what side of the road to drive, citizens from one country would feel pretty comfortable navigating the streets of any of the others.

There are currently two wars going on involving Israel and Hamas. The war we all see here in America is the propaganda war. Pro-Hamas protestors on the campus of MIT were warned that if they didn’t disperse–they were violating campus policies that prohibited interfering with academic activities and the free movement of students and staff–they would be suspended. The protestors were warned several times and failed to disperse.
Jewish students were prevented from entering the campus through the main entrance and were rerouted. Once the protestors finally dispersed the administration decided to not follow through on their threats to punish the students for violating the policies of the school.
It was a bit of a surprise because MIT President Kornbluth seemed ready to follow through on her threat.

The Biden administration may approve a sanctions waiver on Tuesday that will allow Iran to access at least $10 billion in previously frozen funds held in Iraq, a closely watched decision that comes just a month after the Tehran-backed terror group Hamas launched an attack on Israel that left 1,200 dead.
The waiver would extend the multibillion-dollar sanctions relief first issued in July that expires tomorrow. It allows Iraq to transfer frozen electricity payments into Iranian-owned bank accounts in Europe and Oman.

Seventeen-year-old Jonathan Lewis (pictured above) was beaten to death by a mob of 15 just blocks away from his high school after standing up for smaller friend whom the mob had put into a trash can.
KLAS reported that Lewis was beaten on November 1, 2023, and died on November 7.
The New York Post quoted Lewis’s father saying, “One of his smaller friends had something stolen by this group of 15, and they threw the small boy in the trash can, and our son confronted them and he was attacked.”

The commentariat has made much of recent surveys showing Trump ahead of Biden in swing states that probably will decide the outcome of the 2024 presidential election. A Bloomberg/MorningConsult poll released Friday, for example, shows Trump with modest leads among registered voters in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Emerson also released a survey on Friday indicating that Trump enjoys leads in the same states. The one that created the most buzz was a New York Times/Siena poll showing Trump ahead by even larger margins in Arizona (+5), Georgia (+6), Michigan (+5), Nevada (+10), and Pennsylvania (+4).
The CEO of Target stores recently explained to CNBC that American consumers cut back significantly, “even on grocery items.” He relayed to the business channel that “even in food and beverage categories, over the last few quarters, the units, the number of items they’re buying, has been declining.”
