Chicago — Business owners and residents in Bucktown say they are concerned about an increase in crime following a brazen attack and robbery on Monday afternoon that left a man injured. The broad daylight robbery, which involved two men, was caught on surveillance video. (Snip) Data from the Chicago Police Department shows robberies have increased 96% since 2019 and 53% since last year. “People are super upset. People want to storm city hall, they want to protest in front of the mayor’s house,” Jensen said. “I’ve seen different social media posts, the anger, the disgust, this is city-wide. When’s it going to stop?”

Comments:

Bucktown neighborhood used to be safe, at least in the daytime. Those days are gone.

Most people know how to stop it but it takes some leadership with courage. Social Justice policies failed a couple of years ago.

Sure glad I live in a free state, where the innocent at least have a fighting chance. In places like Ill, Ca and the usual suspects, the innocent are completely at the mercy of the criminals and nobody in power cares.

Re #4, your information is a decade out of date. Illinois has had a pretty reasonable "shall issue" concealed carry law, statewide, for about 10 years or so. Basically, anyone who has no felony convictions and is willing to fill out the forms, get their mandated training and undergo background check can get (MUST be issued, based on court imposed objective criteria) a CCW permit in the state.

Nothing new here. It is what it is, another Democrat stronghold, where rampaging pillaging and looting are endorsed sporting activities. Just like Chicago, will Bucktown introduce "GUM stores" for the rampagers pillagers and looters? It's part of the Democrat income redistribution effort.

Not only do minorities feel they are entitled to commit crimes without any consequences, they want the taxpayer to provide a living for them so all they have to do is live the ghetto lifestyle. Nothing will change until their culture changes and that is going to take some courageous work by members of their communities. We cannot force them to make the change that is needed. They have abandoned the concept of the nuclear family and that is destroying their communities. All this kind of behavior is doing is reinforcing the stereotypical image of violent chaos without accepting any responsibility.

One of several cities that no one will ever visit or even stop the car to get gas. It’s all the usual places. Send Michelle, she can throw some of that lecture cash money to the store owners that got ripped off. Forget it, that will never happen. She’s more likely to go out and create a defense fund for the perpetrators who will show up in court with new phones and sneakers. America decent accelerates.

Another invoice shows a nurse earned $20,000 during a week in December. That same week – that shelter manager’s invoice billed for more than $14,000. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez might want her followers to believe inflation is “propaganda” — but her constituents aren’t buying it. The firebrand Democratic congresswoman used her Instagram stories to share a video from New Zealand’s left-wing Aotearoa Liberation League in which an activist claimed the “propaganda” surrounding inflation was designed to protect “greedy shareholders,” who are truly to blame for the rising cost of living. But when The Post visited Ocasio-Cortez’s constituents in the 14th district, which comprises areas in both Queens and in the southeastern part of the Bronx, all of them reported economic pain and many said the Biden administration should not be left off the hook.

Green energy and the push to electrify everything have been in the news recently but for all the wrong reasons. Wind turbine manufacturers like Siemens and General Electric have reported huge losses for the first half of this year, almost $5 billion for the former and $1 billion for the latter. Among other problems, turbine quality control has suffered, forcing manufacturers such as Siemens and Vestas to incur costly warranty repairs.
