Johnson & Johnson is signing off on a new logo, more than 130 years after creating the old one.
The health care giant said Thursday that it will replace the well-known signature script with a modern look that reflects its sharpened focus on pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
The original script dates to the 1880s and was based on the signature of a company co-founder. (Snip) Many children no longer learn to write cursive in school, noted marketing consultant Laura Ries.People may recognize the signature, but they weren’t necessarily reading it, she said.

The pathetic uneducated masses can no longer read normal script writing....let alone DO IT.
Printing is far slower than cursive or script writing, like for taking notes or writing something down. We do not always have a computer to type on, and paper and pen are still major factors in life.

It was successful for almost a century and a half.If it isn't broke why fix it? Change for change sake? Some exec justifying their job or some high paid consultant's recommendation?
It's one reason I took early retirement

Hard to beat their classic logo. Yoots may not be able to write in script; but the simple script used in that logo was easily readable (or at least instantly recognizable). The change seems to me like a pretty dumbass move.
#2 notwithstanding, people who print everything can write that way at a comparable clip. I'd wager printing can be read more quickly, though.

With the state of public education these days I don’t think the new logo will be any more meaningful to the “yutes” of America.

My grandson is a junior in high school. The year he was supposed to learn cursive in elementary, they removed it from our local schools. Lots complained. But a few years ago they put it back. And in elementary took away all work to be done on computer and going back to using some books. My grandson can sign his name and read most cursive but he is an all A student. I used to have to research old deeds in the courthouses of our area. None of these students could go back as far as you usually have to because those really old deeds are written in cursive! Our schools are always rated among the best in our state. I bet our test scores went down a bit in the last 2 years when they had to do computer only work!

Children are not taught cursive, but they are taught about anal sex.
I've long believed that cursive ceased being taught so that future generations cannot read our founding documents.

All lower case and wrong kerning around the &, but go for it. Somehow anyone over 40+ has become a secret agent. We can pass messages just by writing them and we can have secure vehicles just by making sure they have a manual transmission. We can transfer money mysteriously by writing a check. Oh, and we can set up private meetings by using an analog clock.
Our Department of Education has hobbled generations. It is pathetic.

Absolutely pathetic if the real reason for the change is that people can not read a signature.
