French schools bar Muslim girls in religious
clothing from attending classes

Students across France returned to school on Monday amid ongoing tensions between the federal government and Muslims over a recent decision to bar girls in public schools from wearing abayas, loose-fitting cloak-like garments that cover every part of the body except the face. Of the nearly 12 million students across the country, nearly 300 girls wore the long Islamic garment and were asked to change into something else. The vast majority complied and were allowed to return to class, however, 67 did not and were subsequently sent home.

Obviously this could never happen here since students in general can come to school dressed any which way they wish. While this policy could be considered trivial it is an important push back to the Muslims who have no intention of assimilating to the customs of the country they have freely decided to make their home.

I doubt the French can make it stick. But surely the government thought of that and has a Plan B ready. So we shall see. One Plan B might be to mandate a standard student uniform for everyone. One for Boys and another for Girls. That would still attract problems but maybe not as many. It was standard practice in many church and private schools when I was a child.

Excellent move....but they just will be uneducated because the French permit the alternate 7th century barbarian "religious police" to beat people who don't follow their insane cult rules.

There are a number of Muslim girls who go to the university where I work. None wear an abaya, but almost all the rest wear a head scarf. That's fine by me, I was taught by nuns.

Americans cannot wear what they want to in school. If they wear anything with Trump on it they will be asked to leave.

Can't the women go to school in their 'old country', no matter where they're born? Maybe not, being women.

Years ago, a teen girl who was accompanied by her brother was in my husbands tiny office at school. She wanted to enroll for the coming semester. Every time my husband asked her a question, her brother answered for her. This was a time before we knew about honor killings. He, the guidance counselor had had enough of the brother speaking for the girl and insisted that the girl speak for herself. She did reluctantly. Husband, who normally left work at work, shared his experience with me. I have wondered what happened to her. Did her brother turn her in?

Most coverage of Friday's verdict from a Manhattan courthouse has focused on the $350 million plus that rogue judge Arthur F Engoron has demanded Trump cough up - for a "crime" which has no known victims and no identifiable proceeds. Confiscating (with interest) close to half-a-billion dollars for no good reason is certainly unusual, even by the standards of US "justice".

So a German couple decide to travel to Paris for a pre-Christmas break. The City of Light and all that, right? Don't worry, they didn't go to any of those dangerous banlieues. Instead, they were a few yards from the Eiffel Tower strolling the Quai de Grenelle when a man attacked them shouting - go on, take a wild guess - yes, "Allahu akbar!"

In our initial report on this new war yesterday, we published a video showing a terrified young lady being abducted by Hamas "soldiers" from an Israeli music festival. She was delivered to Gaza. This is the condition she arrived in: "Allahu Akbar!" Because Allah is truly great, isn't he? He let us target the Jewess, and then strip her and beat her and rape her. And then, when we drive what's left to the dar al-Islam, we all get to dance in the streets and desecrate her corpse. Boy, what a generous guy that Allah is!

I was listening to John Derbyshire's long-running Radio Derb the other day, and was rather touched to find myself with a bit part in the opening segment: I'll come back to the bit Derb referenced later in the week, but first, to return the compliment, I was very struck by an aside he had about halfway through the show re India becoming the fourth nation to make a "soft landing" on the moon (by "soft", they mean the spacecraft doesn't get totaled on impact). The cost of the Chandrayaan-3 mission was about US$75 million, which, as John pointed out, is less than the cost of the Barbie movie.

The Utah Senate race between conservative Republican Sen. Mike Lee and Independent Evan McMullin has emerged as a potential wild card in the battle for the Senate. Recent polls show the race is close, with McMullin trailing Lee by only a few points in a state where Republican victories are usually all but guaranteed. Lee, a conservative who supported then-President Trump’s effort to challenge the 2020 election results on Jan. 6, is a star among many members of Utah’s Republican base, but his unpopularity among moderates and Democrats has driven his approval rating down to the low 40s.

A Texas school district will restore a graphic novel edition of Anne Frank's Diary to its classrooms following protests against orders to remove it. The version of the famous Holocaust memoir, by Israeli filmmaker Ari Folman and illustrator David Polonsky, was first published in 2019. It was adapted from Frank's unabridged journal, which contains sexual references and mentions of homosexuality.

Truckers to the rescue—again. Truckers bravely exposed some of the worst COVID shutdowns in the world when they parked their trucks in Ottowa to protest the iron-fisted approach used against citizens by the Justin Trudeau regime. Truckers in the US showed solidarity for their Canadian neighbors and helped block shipping between the US and Canada in Detroit, Michigan. Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who was being considered for Joe Biden’s VP, quickly threatened arrest for truckers who dared to block the Ambassador Bridge. Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that she was not ruling out a presidential run to keep former President Donald Trump out of the White House. Anchor Jake Tapper said, “You still haven’t ruled out a presidential run of your own in 2024, as far as I know. Are you still considering it, or what do you rule it out?” Cheney said, “I haven’t made any decisions about it yet. I’m going to do whatever is necessary to defeat Donald Trump.” Tapper said, “But if it came down to you, not running, and it’s Biden versus Trump, you would you would support Biden?”

A third year has passed since the death of Rush Limbaugh. The day of the sad news, millions of people were sensible of a loss. Something they depended on for reassurance, reinforcement, confidence, strength, amusement, and interest was now gone and never would come again. Limbaugh was an optimist, and optimists are like bonfires. The shivering gathered about him for warmth -- those fearing an awful and incomprehensible transformation in their country, those to whom the triumph of Marxism looked to be inevitable. His listeners had this consolation -- that at the appointed hour the ebullient voice would issue from the radio,

The Christian season of Lent always triggers the anti-God squad, and 2024 is no different, with limelight-seeking atheists trotting out the tired “Jesus never existed” thesis in preparation for Holy Week. Writing in Aeon, professional provocateur Gavin Evans leads the band of God-slayers with his February 15 article, entitled “There Was No Jesus,” rehashing old arguments that Jesus was the invention of a group of unscrupulous hucksters who sought to create a religion around a myth of their own creation. The gist of Evans’ plodding 4,100-word piece is that “a cult leader who drew crowds, inspired devoted followers and was executed on the order of a Roman governor”

President Trump held another one of his massive political rallies Saturday night in Waterford Township, Michigan. The rally was held one day after a New York City judge ordered him to pay $355 million to New York State for paying his business loans off on time and with interest. This case could possibly be the start of the end of the United States as we know it if it is not overturned. The unprecedented lawfare suits against America’s favorite president has not put a dent in his popularity with voters. In fact, it is having the opposite effect.

One of the tricks of knowing when a leftist judge is pulling a fast one is if the decision is really, really long. (snip) Indeed, generally speaking, in my thirty-five years as an attorney, I’ve never seen an appellate court uphold damages so disproportionate to actual injuries suffered—and again, there were no injuries in this case. The fact that there were no injuries in itself means that the case, from ig to zack, denied Trump due process. I don’t see the judgment surviving an appeal, that’s for sure. (snip) And so, I think that this latest assault on Trump, rather than filling people with revulsion, will bring many around.
