Anne Frank graphic novel reinstated in
Texas school following controversy

A Texas school district will restore a graphic novel edition of Anne Frank's Diary to its classrooms following protests against orders to remove it. The version of the famous Holocaust memoir, by Israeli filmmaker Ari Folman and illustrator David Polonsky, was first published in 2019. It was adapted from Frank's unabridged journal, which contains sexual references and mentions of homosexuality.

Comments:

This story illustrates several problems with public schools, concerned parents and left-wing activists. Obviously Anne Frank's Diary and the Bible, which was also removed, should not ever be removed from school libraries. According to this story they were removed due to "parental complaints." The complaints are not listed but the article states that the unabridged diary contains references to teenage sex and homosexuality. Obviously the Bible contains some fairly raw material. The cause for this crazy removal is due to the incessant left-wing obsession with inserting garbage literature into public schools. School boards are paranoid and are perhaps removing all books that have any complaints against them. We know that common sense is a disappearing virtue from public schools.

I remember reading Anne Frank in school, but zero memory of sexual reference. Am I mistaken in believing that books have been edited for content to fit the intended audience? That would be my concern to the dipsticks trying to replace an age appropriate version with a no-holds-barred version of any book directed at each level of school ages. That would go for sexual content as well as violence & crimes. High schoolers should be able to process value judgements at a more mature level than a well read 2nd grader.

I have spent the past 20 years working in school libraries. I am very familiar with this book. It was popular because of the historical nature. Graphic Novels have come a long way to introduce readers to new and classic novels. Our 8th graders studied WW2 and many students became very interested in the holocaust. We now have scores of people writing their experiences before their passing. Anne Frank was pretty much the only book available on the holocaust when I was in school. We had no problems or concerns with the book. Graphic Novels are good for reluctant readers and many students would then go on to read the classic novel or other material on the subject. Not every book ever written should be allowed in a school. Students were referred to the public library for the copy we did not have and or a bookstore. Everyone has gone insane.

So, the kids are so dumbed down that only the comic book version is in the library? Can't read the actual book?

One of the biggest donors in Democratic politics this year isn’t sure if he really wants to be a Democratic megadonor — at least not on the party’s terms. But then, part of life as Sam Bankman-Fried is about embracing paradoxes. The 30-year-old, who has amassed an estimated $20 billion fortune over the last four years through cryptocurrency, drives a hybrid Toyota Corolla. He shares a penthouse with about 10 roommates and cooks for himself.

Kathy Hochul’s call for 5.4M Republicans

Gov. Kathy Hochul, who hasn’t proven shy about issuing orders, had one for the state’s Republicans this week — all 5.4 million of them: “Just jump on a bus and head down to Florida where you belong, OK?” she said. “You are not New Yorkers.” If you can move beyond the frankly disgusting political partisanship and intolerance, her message is fiscally irresponsible, even dangerous. The governor probably already knows this, but the state’s extensive public sector is heavily reliant on personal income taxes paid by residents, and with nearly $14 billion in projected budget gaps over the next five years, it can’t afford to lose any taxpayers,

California has officially become the first in the world to enforce a ban on the sale of new gasoline cars by 2035, following a public hearing on Thursday that ended with California Air Resources Board voting to approve the policy. Automakers are now required to reduce the number of gas guzzlers they sell in order to reach the first quota of the plan that mandates 35 percent of new cars, SUVs and small pickups sold in California by 2026 be zero-emission vehicles. The quota increases every two years, with 51 percent by 2028, 68 percent by 2030 and then 100 percent of all new vehicles sold should be

An op-ed in the Washington Post has argued that men in women’s sports could actually be a good thing for young girls by teaching them the art of losing gracefully. According to Alyssa Rosenberg, the aim of school athletics is not to teach children the art of achieving excellence but rather to build character, and what better way to build character in a teenage girl than having her experience the frustration of losing that championship title to a biological male? Her argument largely hinges on the unicorn of “sports-crazed parents” who will theoretically use transgender athletes in women’s sports as an excuse in the event their daughter loses.

The U.S. Western District Court of Michigan denied a plea by Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson (D) that sought to halt a lawsuit alleging she kept nearly 26,000 dead registrants on the state’s voter rolls. In November 2021, as Breitbart News reported, the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) filed suit against Benson accusing her of keeping nearly 26,000 dead registrants on Michigan voter rolls and thus violating the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA). Benson, in response, sought to have the lawsuit thrown out. On Thursday, the district court denied Benson’s effort to dismiss the case.

As President Obama used to say of his clownish vice president: "Don't underestimate Joe's ability to f*** things up." Which brings us to Joe Biden's student loan debt forgiveness rollout, announced this week. Let's set aside the issue of the legality of the matter. The actual execution of the matter is Joe in Action. According to Axios: The implementation of President Biden's widespread, income-targeted student loan forgiveness is shaping up to be a bureaucratic challenge for the Department of Education. Why it matters: Millions of Americans are in limbo waiting for information on how to take action on student debt relief — the success of which relies largely on an agency juggling

Exuberant over a string of recent legislative victories, and launching his midterm campaigning in earnest, President Joe Biden swaggered into Maryland on Thursday and excoriated his predecessor’s philosophy as “semi-fascism,” in what constituted an unusually pointed and highly charged denunciation of Republicans. “What we’re seeing now is either the beginning or the death knell of extreme MAGA philosophy,” Biden told Democratic donors in the Washington suburb of Rockville. Calling out those he labeled as “extreme” Republicans, Biden said: “It’s not just Trump, it’s the entire philosophy that underpins the — I’m going to say something, it’s like semi-fascism.”

Whispers are growing that the Democratic Party’s future lies in Georgia, with Sen. Raphael Warnock, if he can hold off Republican challenger Herschel Walker this fall. Warnock is a uniquely talented and likable politician. Just ask Georgia Republicans. None dare say so on the record. But granted the cloak of anonymity, they are the first to compliment, or lament, Warnock’s attentive Senate staff, travel schedule that regularly takes him to all corners of the Peach State, and knack for avoiding the “radical leftist” label despite his dependably liberal voting record in Congress. Roadblocks aplenty threaten Warnock’s bid for a full

California Gov. The California Air Resources Board approved the new regulations Thursday afternoon following a long public comment process. California became the first state in the nation to issue such a direct phase-out of gas-powered vehicles, and Newsom told ABC News he is confident other states around the country will follow suit. "There's nothing else that will move the needle on greenhouse gases
