After the Biden administration teased the idea of relocating New York City migrants to the Atlantic City International Airport in New Jersey, the state’s Democratic governor has come out and publicly refused to cooperate. “I don’t see any scenario where we’re gonna be able to take in a program in Atlantic City or, frankly, elsewhere in the state,” Governor Phil Murphy said during his appearance on News 12 New Jersey on Thursday night. “We are already seeing folks in New Jersey that have probably swelled into New Jersey from New York or other locations, but you need scale, an enormous amount of federal support,

Former New Mexico governor Bill Richardson, who had a long history of diplomatic and state service, passed away on Friday at the age of 75.
He died in his sleep at his home in Chatham, Mass., the Richardson Center for Global Engagement confirmed. He founded the institution in 2011 with the purpose of negotiating the release of prisoners and hostages who were being held by hostile countries or organizations. The center said it had worked with over 80 families for that purpose. The U.S. Border Patrol arrested 91,000 migrants who crossed as part of a family group in August, breaking the previous one-month record of 84,486 that was set in May 2019.
Last month, families became the single largest demographic group crossing the border for the first time since President Biden took office, according to preliminary data obtained by the Washington Post. That title previously belonged to single adults.

Former President Donald Trump’s criminal trial in Fulton County, Georgia, will be televised and live-streamed on the internet, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee announced Thursday.
McAfee will also allow reporters to use their computers and cell phones inside the courtroom so long as they are not used to record the trial. McAfee’s announcement is aligned with Fulton County policy that broadcasts judicial proceedings on its YouTube channel.

A Texas law banning transgender care for minors will go into effect on Friday, now that the state Supreme Court has lifted a temporary injunction issued by a lower court.
Last week, a Texas district judge ruled that the law banning the medical transition of minors violated the rights of transgender children, as well as the alleged rights of doctors who follow “well-established, evidence-based” medical guidelines. After the judge issued the temporary injunction, Texas officials immediately appealed to the state Supreme Court, the highest court for civil cases in the state.
