Opposition to Rep. Kevin McCarthy becoming House Majority Leader was palpable on the right at the beginning of 2023. During a drawn-out fight, Rep. Chip Roy and other conservatives held up his promotion to secure a new rules package and guarantees surrounding investigations.
Eventually, McCarthy secured the votes after making several concessions, and at that point, it was fair to wipe the slate clean. He deserved a chance to prove himself, and for the most part, he's been a fairly good leader who has kept his promises regarding investigations into the weaponization of government and the Biden family's corruption.
I suppose it was just a matter of time

The guy reminds me of Aunt Bea from Andy of Mayberry. I would prefer Granny Clampett.

Once a squish, always a squish. Our suspicions of McCarthy were well-founded. The worst president in history needs to be fingered and disgraced now while we still have somewhat of a country left. Welcome to the Mike Pence Legion of Dishonor and Cowardice.

I thought the conservatives had a guarantee that McCarthy wouldn't get a chance to have a "major black mark of his tenure." What was that rule again?

McCarthy is the typical Republican leader. He is all talk and no action. I realize impeachment has its pitfalls especially during an election cycle, but the crimes Biden has committed are egregious and could rise to the level of treason if he did, in fact, sell favors to our enemies. With the evidence revealed, it is clear that Biden has committed grave crimes against this country and now it becomes a matter of necessity to impeach. The Congress has a duty to insure that the President is held accountable when the evidence is revealed. We cannot ignore the gravity of the charges against the country. McCarthy does not have control of his members. Far too many may be caught up in the corruption in Ukraine if this blows up as it should. No doubt many are counseling McCarthy to decline to impeach because they feel they may be drawn into it. Romney being one of the most vulnerable.
The fact is we cannot count on Republicans to do the right thing. They are as immersed in the political process in Washington DC as any democrat. They reject the fact that they are accountable to their constituents and believe they are a power unto themselves. This leads to corruption and government that is totally out of touch with the people who pay their salary. Kevin is a product of this philosophy. He tells us what we want to hear, but knows he is never going to deliver. Perfect example is #6’s question…where are the J6 videos he promised to release?

hardly. according to MTG they have votes to go ahead w/inquiry. R's exercising a circular firing squad on one another like this is why R's lose. all i've heard is whining about McCarthy - never how he has delivered. whose side are you on??

This does make me very suspicious about him. An impeachment Inquirer is not impeachment it's only an inquiry. The inquiry rate gives the house the ability to subpoena all records and individuals, the inquiry gives them the ability to enforce subpoenas. I find it very suspicious that McCarthy won't even allow this to happen. As far as being embarrassed of losing the vote, let those rhinos tell the Republicans who voted for them that they're protecting Joe Biden, I don't think they will.

Are we all forgetting that one of the agreed to conditions for securing the votes to become speaker was the one where it would only take ONE VOTE to start an impeachment on McCarthy!!???

talk about feeling disappointed in someone who was going to do what we hoped he would do and then seeing, again, the level of weakness and indecisiveness he is projecting
- with that kind of "leadership" the repubs will never get off the ground, even if our President is re-re-elected because
- he can't do it alone, although he tried like Hell, but with a demcommie House and RINO Senate he hasn't a chance of getting his agenda enacted
- wonder if that isn't the establishment Republican Party's influence being impressed on the good guys in congress?
- if they let diapers slither out of this "open and shut" case, it will close the door for me on the Republican Party and I will forever be an "Independent" with no party affiliation

If you don’t have the goods so clearly that a 6 year old would vote to convict it would be dumb to start an impeachment inquiry. It’s better for 70% of voters to think Biden is corrupt than to give the press a year to tell people why he isn’t.

Typical, he knows full well the Dems will vote 100% against and inquiry and the rinos will vote along with them, giving Dementia Joe a free corruption pass. Corruption is a way of life in DC and they're all covering for each other.

The chance of get a guilt verdict when the Democrats control the Senate is zero. Impeaching (indicting) Biden would only allow irresponsible members of the House to waste time and money grand standing instead of doing their job. The general public has become weary of these political farces that accomplish nothing and may “reward” the party responsible for them come election time. McCarthy is wise to wait until the time is right
There are only two possible results of impeachment.
The most probable is the Senate returns a verdict of not guilty and the Republicans will be blamed for putting the country through a meaningless political ordeal.
The other result, that is wishful thinking, would remove Biden from office and make Kamala Harris President. I’m sure the voters would show their “gratitude” for that.

we send people to Congress to represent us. one of the only ways we know if they are faithfully doing so is how they vote. if there are no votes we are are denied the knowledge of our representative's veracity.
VOTE on impeachment! Then we will know who is who.

McCarthy has been squatting in the House for 17 years. His net worth is now estimated at 30 million. That is all one needs to know about who he is and whose side he is on. Corrupt.

We KNEW going in that McCarthy would back peddle.
That is his history, and that is his nature.
When a firebrand like Representative Chip Roy and other conservatives held his feet to the fire to honor the terms of negotiations among the Republican party's conservatives in order to get the votes to become Speaker, IT WAS TELLING.
He wanted to welsh on upholding his part of the plan HE had agreed to do, and it was only a matter of time.
This is why the more hard core "conservatives" have allowed for the base of the republican party to be radicalized and splintered against itself, giving solace to the full-on radical socialist "in-yoiur-face" demonrats. Without unity of purpose, Schifft show in DC continues.
The silence is deafening, and it won't be the demonrat socialists Marxists' efforts at lawfare using created vocabulary to twist the Rule of Law against itself and the Constitution that will be the end of the Republic, it will be the NEAR TOTAL LACK OF REPUBLICANS fighting for 'king of the hill' and DOING NOTHING in the face of near absolute corurption by the Executive Branch that will take U.S. down.

McCarthy probably needs to lock in the rino votes now so these goofballs don't hang him out to dry when the House votes to file the articles of impeachment against biden the cheater. As we know, there are too many snakes in the grass on the pubbie side.
