A massive emergency alert test will reportedly sound alarms on all U.S. cellphones, television sets, and radios in October, in the wake of the deadly wildfires on the Hawaiian island of Maui. On October 4, every cellphone, TV, and radio in the United States will blast a warning tone of an emergency alert, in order to ensure that the nation’s Emergency Alert system is working correctly in the event of a national disaster or attack, according to a report by USA Today. The emergency alert will most likely read, “This is a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System, issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, covering the United States

The deaths on Maui were mere collateral damage. The important goal was to clear the land of inconvenient existing housing. Now the area can be properly developed.

What good would that have done in Maui if some buffoon administrator decided to not send up the alert (like he did), or decided to refuse water to firefighters (like he did), or the cops shut down the only exits out of town (like they did)? When your government wishes to cause a catastrophe it happens. Even if your government doesn't mean to cause it, by their own ineptitude, it happens anyway.

#2 On. An iPhone, open “settings”, go to “notifications”, scroll to bottom and you can turn off Amber alerts and government emergency alerts. There’s also a setting to turn off proximity tracking they used for Covid tracking. I just put my phone in airplane mode or just turn it off when not in use. Doesn’t work completely, but greatly definitely degrades their abilities.

So, as a resuilt of the abject failure of authorities in Hawaii to warn their residents of the deadly fires approaching them, from now on whenever there is a hurricane in Florida, a tornado in Oklahoma, a wildfire in California, or a Nor'easter in Maine, everyone in Iowa is going to be jarred into spilling their coffee by a siren blasting on THEIR phones? I seem to remember the "This is a test of the emergency broadcasting system" alerts many, many years ago, before everyone had cell phones and we still trusted the government. I'm sure they have the system set to target only certain area codes, so everyone is not disturbed, but then, it is Brandon's government! We got a call at approximately 9pm. Mon. night telling us there would be no school Tuesday, school personnel were on strike. Our youngest just turned 45, so they have our number. I assume they must have called everyone!

Georgia Gov. Kemp dismissed calls to impeach Willis as “political theater” during a press conference on Thursday. In mid-August, Georgia state Sen. McAfee’s announcement is aligned with Fulton County policy that broadcasts judicial proceedings on its YouTube channel. No trial date has been set in Trump’s Georgia case. Georgia’s rules are the opposite of those in New York and the federal court system, where Trump faces three other criminal cases. Cameras are not permitted

A Texas law banning transgender care for minors will go into effect on Friday, now that the state Supreme Court has lifted a temporary injunction issued by a lower court. Last week, a Texas district judge ruled that the law banning the medical transition of minors violated the rights of transgender children, as well as the alleged rights of doctors who follow “well-established, evidence-based” medical guidelines. After the judge issued the temporary injunction, Texas officials immediately appealed to the state Supreme Court, the highest court for civil cases in the state. The order from the Supreme Court lifting the injunction provided no further explanation as to the constitutional reasoning behind

A policy that determines when people can be charged with low-level drug offenses in Harris County has once again been altered, according to an internal memo from the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. In April, the DA’s office implemented a policy that placed the responsibility for drug testing for suspected narcotics weighing less than four grams on law enforcement before they could file a possession charge with the county. Now, as of August 27, the policy has largely been reversed due to the “increasing public safety threat of fentanyl,” according to the DA’s office. “Fentanyl, by itself and mixed with other controlled substances, appears to be a component

Trump’s lawyers submitted the plea in writing and notified the court that he will not appear in person for the scheduled arraignment next week, which is allowed under Georgia law. The former president said in the court filing Thursday that he had discussed the charges in the indictment with his attorney, "and I fully understand the nature of the offenses charged and my right to appear at arraignment."
