A Colorado middle schooler was reportedly kicked out of class for having several patches on his backpack, including one of a Gadsden flag — sparking a social media uproar.
The 12-year-old student at the Vanguard School was ordered to remove the patch of the flag — which features a coiled rattlesnake and the phrase “Don’t tread on me” on a yellow background — before he was allowed to return to class, according to footage of a meeting between the child’s mother and an administrator posted to X, formerly Twitter.
The administrator at the public charter school tells the boy’s mom that he cannot display the patch

Re-education for the ignorant teacher. Require her to take a course in the Revolutionary War, increase her knowledge, and get past her apparent political indoctrination.

The Vanguard school in Colorado Springs, Colorado is a Charter School. Ruh roh. Where did this charter school go wrong. Wrong principal and teachers? Some supposedly well-heeled adults in the school couldn't handle freedom of speech?

It’s not just ignorance of history. It’s a wrong world view. This person shouldn’t be in the same room with impressionable minds.

Cant make this crazy shite up. An educator who doesn't know basic American history. And that educator is charged with educating children. But it's no surprise, public education is authoritarian indoctrination. The Vanguard School should be proud of this shite. No, they should be ashamed of themselves.

This just exposes the outright stupidity of so many teachers and school boards. They are so focused on gender and leftwing ideology, actually learning history isn't a priority.

FTA: “There has been National media attention on our charter school, The Vanguard School, related to a student having the Gadsden flag on his backpack,” Harrison School District 2 administrators said in an email obtained by the newspaper. “Unfortunately, this story is incomplete.”
The child also had multiple patches of semi-automatic guns on his backpack.
“The patch in question was part of half a dozen other patches of semi-automatic weapons,” the administrators said. “
This school is grasping at straws now. After backing down over the Gadsden Flag publicity the school is now trying to save face by saying that this is really over "semi-automatic weapons" patches. Here's a pic of the student's backpack (also notice the bumper stickers of one of the school faculty's cars in the pic):

The only patches on the student's back pack have St Michael with a sword (1A violation) and a patch that states "Bear Arms". No patches or pictures of "semi-automatic weapons". Even if he did, so what? USSC already ruled in Tinker vs Des Moines Independent School District (1969) that even a student's right to expression does not stop at the school's door.
Someone is lying here...and it doesn't look like the student.

This was a good demonstration of how to disagree without being disagreeable.
The administrator had her facts wrong, but she remained respectful and listened as the mother explained when the Gadsden Flag originated. The mother also remained calm and respectful, setting a good example for her son. Some of our politicians, bureaucrats and MSM talking heads could learn how to better conduct themselves from studying the civilized exchange that took place between the two women.

But, but the kid had a patch of a 'semi automatic' on the backpack. So now 2nd Amendment speech is barred. Oh, wait, no picture of the patch which probably isn't a semiautomatic. Since the school and board failed on banning the 1st Amendment, might as well go after the 2nd now.

Maybe( I say maybe because I do not know what is being actually taught in this particular school) American History and government 101 shoujd be a requirement for educators and be taught in schools. Instead of the 1619 project, or CRT or DEI! I learned about this flag in American History 101.

The Gadsden icon does not advocate slavery, but, even so, free speech allows a person to advocate abominations such as slavery, just as the Democrat party did for a century.

When this came up, I googled and found out that this flag originated in 1751, and Ben Franklin was using it in his publications of that era to tell the British Monarch to take a long walk off a short pier. But then I guess that this teacher is too stupid and lazy to google something that took less than 30 seconds to load up on my computer.
