Well if New Orleans goes along with this idea, there goes the tourist dollars. Seafood is a main ingredient but then so is meat and dairy. I don't believe the people of Louisiana will change their Muffalottas for the greenies. I sure as heck won't.

The Leaders aren't the People though. And it's the people who fight tyranny, once they are disenfranchised by it. The People go about their daily lives, disgusted by and generally ignoring those idiots who seek to enslave them. Till they don't. Then there are bloody revolutions and massive executions of those who dared to rule unwisely. Come 2031, those cities will be deadly to their leaders, who will flee, leaving their underlings to bear the wrath, which has become ungovernable. In the past, time and distance protected the tyrants when their dreams turned to dust. But in this age, we see everything and we can track them to their hidden lairs and exterminate them.

Actually there is not one American city that has agreed to ending meat/dairy consumption or privately owned cars. There are perhaps signatures on some sort of vague statement but I doubt that the idiot mayors of the cities listed read what they signed. Certainly the citizens of the cities would never tolerate such outcomes.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said on Wednesday the new BA.2.86 lineage of coronavirus may be more capable than older variants in causing infection in people who have previously had COVID-19 or who have received vaccines. CDC said it was too soon to know whether this might cause more severe illness compared with previous variants. But due to the high number of mutations detected in this lineage, there were concerns about its impact on immunity from vaccines and previous infections, the agency said. Scientists are keeping an eye on the BA.2.86 lineage because it has 36 mutations that distinguish it from the currently-dominant XBB.1.5 variant. CDC, however,

Happy Wednesday, dear Kruiser Morning Briefing friends. (Snip) While catching up yesterday and reading about how horribly wrong things have been going in Maui, I immediately found myself back in the throes of being infuriated by the unholy alliance between leftist American politicians and the enemy of the people media. Hawaii isn’t just run by leftists, it’s under the control of far, far-left ideologues. If there is a bad decision to be made in the service of the Climate Cult, it’ll be made. As Rick pointed out in a post yesterday, that seemed to play a big part in this tragedy: About 85% of wildfires are human-caused — not by carbon emissions

Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc.’s stock tumbled 22% Tuesday, after the retailer’s second-quarter profit missed consensus by a wide margin, while sales also fell short., and the company squarely blamed theft for its woes. It was the company’s first earnings miss in three years. The last time Dick’s missed profit and sales consensus was in April of 2020, when it was reporting first-quarter earnings for that year. “While we posted another double-digit EBT margin, our Q2 profitability was short of our expectations due in large part to the impact of elevated inventory shrink, an increasingly serious issue impacting many retailers,” said CEO Lauren Hobart in a statement.

The Biden administration and its media allies keep acting as if the massive southern border invasion is something out of their control. In reality, the administration has done everything possible to keep the border open. The Biden administration has fought any state efforts at securing the border. Its EPA sued Arizona to dismantle a wall of shipping containers being used to keep out some of the alien invaders. Its DOJ sued Texas over floating barriers on the Rio Grande. The common theme was to not only open the border as wide as possible to accommodate the invaders, but to suppress any efforts by states to secure their borders on their own.
