Biden Administration Says It Opposes Using

The Biden administration on Monday slammed the Republican-controlled House’s version of 2024 National Defense Authorization Act for requiring military personnel decisions to be based on merit and not race or gender, among other provisions. “The Administration strongly opposes the House’s sweeping attempts…to eliminate the Department’s longstanding [Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Access] efforts and related initiatives to promote a cohesive and inclusive force,” the Biden administration said in a Statement of Administration Policy. The House’s NDAA contains a number of Republican-authored provisions to roll back the Biden administration’s efforts to push Marxist-based Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives throughout the entire Department of Defense establishment, including the military.

Sorry, IMHO, even beginning with kids, the ‘participation trophy’ should only be given to the youngest group of children of any sport or challenge, to help the family decide their child’s most capable natural tendencies and strengths. Then it’s merit, competence and prayers… and lots of encouragement. Period. [Both daughters worked bussing tables for their spending money in the same upscale fine dining restaurant near our home, only two blocks away in a very safe neighborhood then. This no doubt helped each get full merit scholarships, one to Sweet Briar in VA, which was perfect for her as her dad had just left us. I had never seen anyone cry as much as she did when he left. Sweet Briar was only 400+ then, and her English and Creative Writing and Finance Majors were perfect for her. Plus she was able to learn more in her athletic passions, Dressage and swimming. She is currently getting her masters in finance and was recently promoted at one of our world-renowned most distinguished hospitality leaders. The younger daughter was also awarded a full merit scholarship, but at Johns Hopkins… God knew she was my ‘city girl.’ She loves her consultant work and as a top manager, has a great team and is a busy mom to two here in CA, the reason she asked me to move here to help. Music to my ears, as my amazing church is nearby, and I decided to use my two masters to teach here part-time, and applied to the vast need last week. [If any LDotter is considering part-time work, please look into substitute teaching in your community… Be a light in this darkness! TBIYTC

Merir has always been the "special sauce" that distinguished US military forces from a the rest in the world. This racist ans sexist garbage is literally destroying the US military. The US military has long been a place where a minority in a position of authority, you could count on the fact that they wete there because of their competence, not their race. That is sadky no longer true.

I recall Gen. Powell's autobiography, in which I believe he extolled the virtues of the military's merit-based system, warts and all. It allowed him and other minorities to advance unhindered by racial bias, and to enjoy the assumption by those he commanded that he was competent to do so. This DEI insanity undermines all of that. It's thoroughly racist, fueled by an assumption that minorities cannot compete without favoritism, and it poisons the command structure with suspicion and disrespect. When you apply the rule, "go woke, go broke" to the military, the "broke" part is lethal and calamitous.

Is anyone comforted in the knowledge that our military is turning into a social experiment at the same time that our enemies are flexing their muscles? Add to that, Biden leaves billions of dollars of equipment in Afghanistan in an act of breathtaking irresponsibility that we have never seen before. Then Joe steps up and in a live interview pops his mouth off regarding military information that should not be shared in public. I am gobsmacked by not only the recklessness of this administration but by their utter incompetence. Democrats are destroyers, everything they touch goes to ruin. They tear down anything good and want to replace it some outlandish experiment that is doomed to failure. The military is the one thing that should never be part of any experiment. The foundational principle must be to always be ready fight to win, period. This DEI garbage is not only foolish. It is dangerous. Our enemies are watching us do to ourselves what they could never do. This administration is destroying our ability to fight and win and the bad guys are just sitting back and waiting before they pounce. The USA has always been the protector of freedom around the world and Biden’s cabal has turned us into a paper tiger.

Biden"s plan to assure the US has a weakened military is going full throttle using DEI policies. Sure, we will have diverse military leadership, but will they know how to lead and win? Add to the questionable personnel decisions the recently admitted ammunition and equipment shortages, this is one Biden policy that is working as planned; but not for the good.

Trump’s support tested in Iowa, some

Former President Donald Trump, up by double digits over every GOP opponent in the critical early-voting state of Iowa, took a swing at the state’s popular Republican governor — and it may have backfired. Some influential Republicans in the state tell The Washington Times that Mr. Trump‘s social media attack on Gov. Kim Reynolds has caused them to rethink their support. They believe many others will follow. “She’s more popular here than he is, by far,” said Cody Hoefert, the former co-chair of the Iowa Republican Party. “And when he goes after her, that doesn’t bode well for him.”

President Joe Biden has authorized the military to call up 3,000 reserve troops to support operations in Europe after tens of thousands were sent there last year after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, a top general said Thursday. Although it is not clear whether Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin plans to actually deploy these reservists anytime soon, the move suggests that the U.S. military’s training mission in Europe, along with the deployment of several new brigades after the invasion, has stretched active-duty forces. “This reaffirms the unwavering support and commitment

Special counsel Jack Smith’s team sharply rebuked Donald Trump’s bid to postpone until after the 2024 election his criminal trial for allegedly hoarding classified documents, characterizing the former president’s call for delay as unfounded and one of his key legal arguments as “borderline frivolous.” In an 11-page filing signed by assistant special counsel David Harbach, prosecutors said federal law and the Constitution require the trial to be put on as soon as practical — not with an “open-ended” date built around Trump’s political calendar. “There is no basis in law or fact for proceeding in such an indeterminate and open-ended fashion, and the Defendants provide none,” Harbach writes.

ALBANY, N.Y. — A mid-level state appeals court on Thursday ordered new congressional lines be drawn for New York, a ruling that could benefit Democrats in the 2024 fight for control of the U.S. House. The Appellate Division of the state Supreme Court reversed a lower court and directed a state redistricting commission to start work on new proposed state congressional lines. Republicans quickly pledged to take the politically charged case to New York’s highest court. “On to the Court of Appeals,” former Republican Rep. John Faso said

Republicans had stronger voter turnout than Democrats did in the 2022 midterms, as the GOP narrowly won control of the U.S. House of Representatives — but failed to win the U.S. Senate. Just a sliver of the electorate — 6% of voters — crossed party lines in last year’s election, reflecting the small size of the swing vote that’s truly up for grabs in this increasingly politically polarized nation. And just slightly more than one-third of all eligible voters participated in all three of the most recent national elections — 2018, 2020 and 2022 — demonstrating how fluid the electorate is from cycle to cycle.
