Trump’s support tested in Iowa, some
Republicans sour after he slams the popular governor

Original Article

Former President Donald Trump, up by double digits over every GOP opponent in the critical early-voting state of Iowa, took a swing at the state’s popular Republican governor — and it may have backfired. Some influential Republicans in the state tell The Washington Times that Mr. Trump‘s social media attack on Gov. Kim Reynolds has caused them to rethink their support. They believe many others will follow. “She’s more popular here than he is, by far,” said Cody Hoefert, the former co-chair of the Iowa Republican Party. “And when he goes after her, that doesn’t bode well for him.”

I doubt that Trump's boorish comments about the Iowa governor will diminish his overall support one iota. His support is baked in and it will take more than the nonsense he spewed to make any difference. In 2016 he viciously attacked Ted Cruz's wife in even a more caddish way. I hated it but voted for him in the primary. He is an old dog who cannot learn new tricks. Was it smart to knock her? Of course not. He didn't derive one benefit from doing so.

President Trump values loyalty above all else. When Kim Reynolds was running her first campaign she fell behind and was faltering. Trump came in, held a rally for her and she took off like a rocket winning the election. She proved a capable and popular governor that easily won re-election. She would not have had that opportunity to prove herself if Trump had not literally "come to her rescue." Given past circumstances, her "neutrality pledge" has weasel RINO written all over it. She's been co-opted by the Deep State Republican Establishment. She's gone over to the dark side. She is the female Ron DeSanctimonious. President Trump has every right to express his disappointment in Governor Kim Reynolds. MAGA REVENGE - TRUMP 2024

It's amazing how successful the Trump endorsement has been for first Ron DeSantis and now Kim Reynolds. They just couldn't have won without his help. I wonder why, then, that we have no Republican senator from Pennsylvania, Arizona, New Hampshire, Georgia or Nevada. Trump endorsed them all and all lost in 2022. His endorsements may be helpful in the primaries but, at least for the Senate last time around, catastrophic. As to loyalty, no politician seeking office owes him any loyalty. The game isn't played that way.

# 6, Trump may have helped Reynolds win the governorship, but that does not oblige her to be his unconditional gofer. She ought to be able to exercise her own judgement as to what is best for Iowa and her party without having to fear the Wrath of Khan. That you now regard this popular and staunchly pro-life governor as a sell-out to the "dark side"...well, blind allegiance to any mortal man has a way of distorting one's judgment. And just so you know...lust for Trump's Revenge won't be nearly enough to carry a general election.

#7 - I wonder if you're aware of the vote fraud that took place in Pennsylvania, Arizona, New Hampshire, Georgia and Nevada? Or, how about McConnell pulling RNC Senatorial Campaign funds from those senatorial races two months before the election? Are you familiar with the other dirty tricks played against Trump endorsed candidates by the RINO Deep State? #8 - Kim Reynolds can be the dream Republican pro-life governor of Iowa, and still be a sell-out to the "dark side" of the RINO Deep State establishment. The two positions are not mutually exclusionary. I have no blind allegiance to Donald Trump. My allegiance to President Trump has been forged over seven years experience of successful policies that brought us energy independence, $1.85 gas, no new wars, 3.5 GDP, 1.5% inflation, and a trade surplus with China. He brokered the Abraham Accords in the Middle East. He neutralized Lil Kim in North Korea and walked across the North-South Korean border to shake his hand. He forced NATO to pay up for their own defense. If Trump was president now, we sure wouldn't be involved in Ukraine. He may be a bit coarse, crude and doesn't suffer fools lightly. I'm OK with that. In case you haven't noticed, our country is going down the toilet and we're headed for World War III. Under Trump's leadership the world was much more stable and safer place. America was prosperous. But rather than a proven leader, you'll happily go along with some bland candidate chosen for you by the GOP establishment, because you find President Trump too coarse. Just so you know...it is the "MAGA Revenge" of the American People. President Trump is the delivery man.

I would imagine Trump needs Iowa to win the election. He also needs NV to win the election, but he was here last weekend trashing our state and “losers” like Adam Laxalt. That doesn’t sound like a winning message, and if Laxalt is a loser, you are too, Mr. Trump because you have lost the last three elections here.

Trump is usually right about these things while at times his perceived loyalty to certain folks can be questionable. It's a mixed bag for sure. For this one, I'll wait and see, but it's impact on the whole seems minimal right now. We should focus on the cheating. At all levels. # 12, care to explain how Kim Reynolds has sold out to the " RINO Deep State establishment"? If support for Trump, even if one is convinced that he cannot win the general election, is the litmus test for selling out to the dark side then we can look forward to permanent Democrat rule.

Another day, another example of Disney’s substituting a political message for creativity. This example is from The Daily Mail, which puts a bit more meat on the bone regarding the already controversial live-action remake of “Snow White and the 7 Dwarves.” The earlier controversy stems from Disney’s self-conscious hire of a Latina actress to play Snow White–an example of the fact that race-swapping is perfectly acceptable when doing so displaces a White actor, but “cultural appropriation” when a White actor plays a non-White character. I found the earlier controversy to be an example of the tedious character of these racial debates because sometimes it matters–race swapping in JRR Tolkien stories makes no sense–while
