Fox News is facing a new defamation lawsuit from a man who claims that its former host Tucker Carlson falsely identified him as an undercover FBI agent who triggered the January 6th attack on the Capitol. The lawsuit was filed in Delaware Superior Court, the same venue where the network recently faced a lengthy trial over Dominion Voting Systems defamation claims that its hosts and guests amplified a false narrative that the company rigged the 2020 presidential election. Fox News settled the case for $787.5 million. Epps, who voted for Donald Trump in 2016 and 2020, and believed that the latter election was stolen from him, according to the lawsuit.

Bring on the video evidence... especially of Epps shoving the giant Trump sign into the face of the police...assaulting police officers. Others nearby were arrested because... they were nearby. Epps was involved and is as free as a bird!!!

Settling a big lawsuit like Fox did for nearly a billion dollars just brings on more lawsuits for people looking for a buck. People, including Tucker I presume, have speculated that Epps was a federal agent. The crowd on 1/6 actually accused him of it. This is a free speech issue. Will the ACLU get on board?

Ray Epps could have settled the matter by testifying forthrightly, and under oath, before the House Judiciary Committee---but he has chosen not. Epp's claims of what Fox News said, or reported, are also inaccurate. What I saw were videos of Ray Epps egging on an attack on the U.S. Capitol. Fox News reported that others there were suspicious that Ray Epps was a government plant, and most reporters followed with an offer for him to come on tv, and set the matter straight---but Ray Epps has not appeared. I suspect Ray Epps is not paying his legal costs. Ray, who is paying for your lawsuit? I cannot consider you sincere without answering any of the questions above.

He was there. He was urging people to enter the Capitol. I believe he made some other incindiary statements, though not certain on that. He was never arrested like so many others for being there. All evidence suggests someone is protecting him - which would mean DOJ, FBI, CIA or some other government alphabet soup agency. Who... Is... He...?

West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin has had a busy week, most recently flirting with a third-party presidential run. But one thing we can appreciate about Manchin is that he is present as a senator, even when he is making moves in other directions. As RedState reported in May, the Democrat has been on the fence about whether he would vote in support of the nomination of Julie Su to ascend to the Secretary of Labor role. As RedState has also reported, Su’s nomination continues to languish in the Senate and faces opposition from both Congressional and Senate Republicans. Many of the Senate Democrats have been mum

Former President Donald Trump, up by double digits over every GOP opponent in the critical early-voting state of Iowa, took a swing at the state’s popular Republican governor — and it may have backfired. Some influential Republicans in the state tell The Washington Times that Mr. Trump‘s social media attack on Gov. Kim Reynolds has caused them to rethink their support. They believe many others will follow. “She’s more popular here than he is, by far,” said Cody Hoefert, the former co-chair of the Iowa Republican Party. “And when he goes after her, that doesn’t bode well for him.”

President Joe Biden has authorized the military to call up 3,000 reserve troops to support operations in Europe after tens of thousands were sent there last year after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, a top general said Thursday. Although it is not clear whether Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin plans to actually deploy these reservists anytime soon, the move suggests that the U.S. military’s training mission in Europe, along with the deployment of several new brigades after the invasion, has stretched active-duty forces. “This reaffirms the unwavering support and commitment

Jeff Reichman, who is serving his first term in the state Senate, announced on Thursday that he is defecting to the Florida governor’s presidential campaign. In a statement, Reichman singled out praise for Reynolds, who Trump has targeted for her warmness toward DeSantis, his main rival for the GOP nomination. “Iowa Republicans must be united if we are going to take our country back and reverse Joe Biden’s failures,” Reichman said in a statement. “Gov. Special counsel Jack Smith’s team sharply rebuked Donald Trump’s bid to postpone until after the 2024 election his criminal trial for allegedly hoarding classified documents, characterizing the former president’s call for delay as unfounded and one of his key legal arguments as “borderline frivolous.” In an 11-page filing signed by assistant special counsel David Harbach, prosecutors said federal law and the Constitution require the trial to be put on as soon as practical — not with an “open-ended” date built around Trump’s political calendar. “There is no basis in law or fact for proceeding in such an indeterminate and open-ended fashion, and the Defendants provide none,” Harbach writes.

ALBANY, N.Y. — A mid-level state appeals court on Thursday ordered new congressional lines be drawn for New York, a ruling that could benefit Democrats in the 2024 fight for control of the U.S. House. The Appellate Division of the state Supreme Court reversed a lower court and directed a state redistricting commission to start work on new proposed state congressional lines. Democrats are supporting the lawsuit, which seeks to scrap the 2022 lines in New York under which Republicans flipped four congressional seats. Republicans quickly pledged to take the politically charged case to New York’s highest court. “On to the Court of Appeals,” former Republican Rep. John Faso said

Republicans had stronger voter turnout than Democrats did in the 2022 midterms, as the GOP narrowly won control of the U.S. House of Representatives — but failed to win the U.S. Senate. Just a sliver of the electorate — 6% of voters — crossed party lines in last year’s election, reflecting the small size of the swing vote that’s truly up for grabs in this increasingly politically polarized nation. And just slightly more than one-third of all eligible voters participated in all three of the most recent national elections — 2018, 2020 and 2022 — demonstrating how fluid the electorate is from cycle to cycle.
