Biden orders 3,000 reservists to be ready

President Joe Biden has authorized the military to call up 3,000 reserve troops to support operations in Europe after tens of thousands were sent there last year after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, a top general said Thursday. Although it is not clear whether Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin plans to actually deploy these reservists anytime soon, the move suggests that the U.S. military’s training mission in Europe, along with the deployment of several new brigades after the invasion, has stretched active-duty forces. “This reaffirms the unwavering support and commitment

Now that Obama/Biden have queered the military, many if not most ordinary straight Americans don't want to enlist anymore. My generation had to endure a draft back before America had gone crazy. There will have to be another draft, perhaps in an America that has gone politically insane and leftist. No good ending to that.

This is familiar. Mass troops and equipment on a border, tell everyone they're being paranoid, then start a war under a false pretext. I guess covid and the vaccine didnt kill enough people for 'em.

Many believed from the very beginning of Biden’s presidency - and especially so as we witnessed his disastrous, deadly and costly Afghanistan withdrawal - that Americans, during his tenure, would face more international danger and uncertainty than ever before, Those countries whose leaders hate America know this is the perfect window of opportunity, for them to undermine, threaten and provoke us. It’s chilling to think of what might happen before his ‘first term’ is even finished. Ukraine deserves our support and help, but his recent directives seem a bit bizarre.

Tucker Carlson interviewed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Friday at the Family Leadership Summit forum in Iowa, which is showcasing all the top 2024 Republican presidential candidates except front-runner and former president Donald Trump. Tucker got the ball rolling by asking DeSantis if he would favor legislation banning abortions after the sixth week of pregnancy, similar to the law he recently signed in his own state: I’m proud to be a pro-life governor, and I will be a pro-life president, and of course, I want to sign pro-life legislation… We need to develop a culture of life in this country.

Another day, another example of Disney’s substituting a political message for creativity. This example is from The Daily Mail, which puts a bit more meat on the bone regarding the already controversial live-action remake of “Snow White and the 7 Dwarves.” The earlier controversy stems from Disney’s self-conscious hire of a Latina actress to play Snow White–an example of the fact that race-swapping is perfectly acceptable when doing so displaces a White actor, but “cultural appropriation” when a White actor plays a non-White character. I found the earlier controversy to be an example of the tedious character of these racial debates because sometimes it matters–race swapping in JRR Tolkien stories makes no sense–while

The Biden administration announced Friday that it would forgive $39 billion in student loans for 804,000 borrowers, explaining it had pursued certain fixes to existing income-driven-repayment plans. “For far too long, borrowers fell through the cracks of a broken system that failed to keep accurate track of their progress towards forgiveness,” Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said in a written statement. These income-driven plans set a forgiveness threshold of 20 or 25 years. Borrowers must make payments that qualify over this period — payments that can be as low as $0 based on an individual’s income and family situation. “By fixing past administrative failures, we are ensuring everyone gets the forgiveness they deserve,

Former President Donald Trump, up by double digits over every GOP opponent in the critical early-voting state of Iowa, took a swing at the state’s popular Republican governor — and it may have backfired. They believe many others will follow. “She’s more popular here than he is, by far,” said Cody Hoefert, the former co-chair of the Iowa Republican Party. “And when he goes after her, that doesn’t bode well for him.”

Should the DeSantis campaign fizzle out, comparisons with previous GOP stars-turned-flops like Jeb Bush, his predecessor in Tallahassee, are inevitable. But a more revealing analogy for DeSantis is to the most disappointing candidacy in the 2020 Democratic field: that of Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
