ESPN has sent Jalen Rose to the unemployment line, along with NBA game analyst Jeff Van Gundy as the cable sports network begins another round to trim millions from its operating budget.
Rose, 50, was the first high-profile layoff of this latest round of layoffs on Friday, according to the New York Post.
Rose already had his role slashed after his daily program with David Jacoby was canceled at the end of 2022, the paper added. The end of Rose’s contract with ESPN will reportedly save the network at least $3 million a year in salary, the amount he was reportedly paid in 2018.

Don’t know who he is but I haven’t watched ESPN in years. I really can’t understand that media cannot resist inserting propaganda in their broadcasts. I don’t watch much sports anymore so I really can’t expound on their “wokeness”. Why would you hack off half your audience to push your agenda. Seems stupid to me.

ESPN/Disney laying off their talking heads. Instead of talking about their respective sports, they all became political talking heads. Big mistake. Disney is loyal only to their bottom line. ESPN is a giant $$$ sink. Relevant lips are irrelevant to the bottom line. The irony is very sweet.

Oh the humanity! How will we survive as a people without such brilliance on the air? Naw! Lol! Just kidding! Have never watched any of the people mentioned! Never will! ESPN is garbage!

Yet the woke jokes continue to run the world even though nobody likes or agrees with them. Jalen has a messy personal life too. It amazes me how athletes and celebrities pass around the same plastic gold digger women.

Who gives a damn? At $50 million he's worth more than I made in an entire medical career. I'm not jealous - he earned his entertainment pay. But these sports talking head jobs are only as secure as long as I and other 'watchers' remain willing to watch. I gave up cable - he can blame me.

If they stuck to sports that's one thing. But it seems they all get paid by the word and blather on. The murmur of the crowd and one maybe two that let the game(s) breathe is all they need.

I am surprised that ESPN hasn't folded yet. 20 more are canned. Well past their sell-by date. Wokeism just doesn't seem to get it. No product means no customers. Come to think of it, interesting that that cnn and msnbc are still around.

The Golf Channel may be next if they don't cease the LGBTQ promotions and the insertion of rainbows everywhere. They also include blacks in every ad but you don't see one black person out there playing in the tournaments. After dropping the NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB, this is all I have left. Focus on the sport, not social propaganda.

What gets me is that they paid him $3 million for what he did. The skills required to be an NBA game analyst are not rare, not even among those who have made a name for themselves playing in the NBA.

Just trying to catch a baseball score on the scroll on espn is like chewing glass since you invariably hear a clown like jalen rose or steven a. smith yammering about some perceived social ill in our great country. It's been that way for decades. I finally found scores elsewhere.

Or, is ESPN dumping their woksters?

I cut the cable decades ago, so the only time I'm subjected to ESPN is when I go to my favorite local food place. I've concluded that most of the day programming on the sports channels is comprised of talking heads, most of whom have never made it into professional ranks, who do nothing but rumor-monger, prognosticate, and pontificate, just like any barroom drunk in Chicago can do. However, that talking head is making millions a year doing it! I concluded there was something REALLY wrong with the ESPN business model and that it cannot be sustained. I'd rather watch sports that don't get nearly the coverage like the American "Big Five" do, such as Archery, Shooting, Judo, Weightlifting, etc. Instead we get forced to watch endless Football, Golf, Basketball, Baseball, and Tennis.

My husband was watching the NBA draft. Every one of the young men (or Mom's) mentioned being grateful to God. One Mom seemed to acknowledge God as though it was a requirement this year. NBA had been filled with a bunch of narcissistic thugs for too long to all of a sudden change their reputation to God loving people of strong character.

If you have cable you pay ESPN $10/month even if you don't watch it.

Trust me, even cutting the cable doesn't work. I try to watch Justified on Hulu without a gay medication tv ad every few minutes.

Jalen Rose is one of the most openly bigoted p.o.s. on television. He should never have been hired and hopefully won't be hired anyone else.

I watch ESPN because I love baseball, football, and basketball. And Hot Women. And entertaining talk. Suzy Kolber is 59 years old and is no longer a femme fatale. Hannah Storm is 61 and falls in the same category. I will miss Max Kellerman who apparently couldn't share the same mike with the massive ego of Stephan A. Smith. Stephan A. is entertaining especially when the Dallas Cowboys win and it send him into a funk. I am a cable customer and I am paying for PMSNBC, CNN, and numerous other channels I never watch. So what? I have to put up with it to watch what I want. In the fall I watch college football on ESPN from 11 am to 2 am. Works for me.

So ESPN is laying off some of their yakkers.
Well, ESPN is part of Disney, and with the string of flop movies I guess Disney has to tighten their belts a bit, so that their top dogs can make their 'compensation:
Bob Chapek: $32.500,000
Christine M. McCarthy $20,235,669
Robert A. Iger $14,998,299
Horacio E. Gutierrez $15,198,008
