Death by corporate Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), also known colloquially as ‘wokeism’, is unfortunately becoming a theme. If you have been following the story of a missing deep water tourist submarine run by a company called OceanGate®, perhaps this part of the untold story might provide some ironic context for the current crisis. (snip) The CEO of OceanGate, the company that has created a tourism industry around underwater exploration, is a man named Stockton Rush. Two years ago, Mr. Rush was interviewed about his company and how they operate; his outlook on the personnel he hired might explain the crisis.

That CEO looks like a “50 year old white guy” to me. Should he have succeeded? No, only the next guy has to be discriminated against. Well, meritocracy counts.

While Stockton Rush is (was?) not stupid he comes across as someone full of hubris and liking the limelight. He probably had visions of making frequent trips down to Titanic with high-profile members of society in his outside-the box submersible. Reminds me a bit of Jurassic Park.

Mr. Rush looks exactly like the kind of men he wouldn’t hire. I hope he and his passengers beat the odds and are rescued but it doesn’t look good. My better half was a young officer selected for the nuclear submarine fleet. It only took him about two months before he realized he would much rather be on the ocean than beneath it. He said things can happen on a sub…and none of them are good.

I guess this Stockton Rush hired off the street 30 year old Black men, 25 year old white women with a sprinkling of trans and gays. 50 year old, experienced white men with submarine backgrounds did not need to apply for work at OceanGate. Passengers were invited to pre-apply for Darwin Awards.

Word to the wise. If you enjoy extremely dangerous experiences, do your homework. Underwater exploration is an environment as dangerous as outer space. Trusting the wrong people can lead to death. You have to have the best equipment, the most experienced crew and a huge amount of respect for the environment you are going into. The mind is a very strange thing and having days to think about your fate has to be torture. I pray these men are rescued or Titanic will claim five more victims. This is such a tragedy.

And management spots are reserved for blacks and females....regardless of competence. It’s impossible to know what’s going on. Today Prigozhin, the chef, frontman for Wagner PMC, and aspiring politician, claimed that the Russian army attacked Wagner. The video he posted looks pretty unconvincing. His initial statements sound like a clear call for an armed coup. After the FSB opened a criminal case he sounds like he’s backtracking. However, the statements from the FSB sound like they’re taking this very seriously. At least two high ranking generals—including Surovikin, who’s in charge of the SMO—have issued “appeals” to the soldiers of Wagner. I have no particular insight into Russian politics. We have sonar detection and acoustic networks for our national defense, and this classified system picked up the moment when this craft and the five people inside it perished. So, why did we waste an inordinate amount of time rushing to rescue people some in the government knew to be dead? The Coast Guard, Canadian military units, and unmanned submersibles from France that can go to these extreme depths joined the rescue effort that covered at least 10,000 square miles.
