Death by corporate Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), also known colloquially as ‘wokeism’, is unfortunately becoming a theme.
If you have been following the story of a missing deep water tourist submarine run by a company called OceanGate®, perhaps this part of the untold story might provide some ironic context for the current crisis.
(snip)
The CEO of OceanGate, the company that has created a tourism industry around underwater exploration, is a man named Stockton Rush. Two years ago, Mr. Rush was interviewed about his company and how they operate; his outlook on the personnel he hired might explain the crisis.

That CEO looks like a “50 year old white guy” to me. Should he have succeeded? No, only the next guy has to be discriminated against. Well, meritocracy counts.

While Stockton Rush is (was?) not stupid he comes across as someone full of hubris and liking the limelight. He probably had visions of making frequent trips down to Titanic with high-profile members of society in his outside-the box submersible. Reminds me a bit of Jurassic Park.

I don't think I would go down in water over my head in a submarine with a video game controller.

Mr. Rush looks exactly like the kind of men he wouldn’t hire. I hope he and his passengers beat the odds and are rescued but it doesn’t look good. My better half was a young officer selected for the nuclear submarine fleet. It only took him about two months before he realized he would much rather be on the ocean than beneath it. He said things can happen on a sub…and none of them are good.

I guess this Stockton Rush hired off the street 30 year old Black men, 25 year old white women with a sprinkling of trans and gays. 50 year old, experienced white men with submarine backgrounds did not need to apply for work at OceanGate. Passengers were invited to pre-apply for Darwin Awards.

I guarantee that 95% of the people trying to rescue him are White and probably 85% of them are men.

“Diversity” kills. It kills incentive, it kills competence, it kills unity, and it kills people. Sorry this lesson was so expensive for the CEO.

Just thinking here... Do you think all the 'white' guys with experience told him this was a bad idea?

Stockton Rush deserves the Bud Light treatment. At least Bud Light hasn't killed anybody like Stockton Rush allegedly has. Those poor passengers probably never stood a chance, and I hope their families sue the pants off Rush.

He stopped hiring 50 year old white guys because some of them told him this was stupid and wouldn't reliably work. The 25 year old various guys et al thought it sounded cool. At least he was in the can with his fool customers.

Not hiring the most competent subject matter experts when you are pushing the extreme limits of technology is suicidal.

Word to the wise. If you enjoy extremely dangerous experiences, do your homework. Underwater exploration is an environment as dangerous as outer space. Trusting the wrong people can lead to death. You have to have the best equipment, the most experienced crew and a huge amount of respect for the environment you are going into. The mind is a very strange thing and having days to think about your fate has to be torture. I pray these men are rescued or Titanic will claim five more victims. This is such a tragedy.

OceanGate CEO didn't hire '50-year-old white guys' for Titanic sub because they're not 'inspirational.'
Of course this will 'inspire' multiple lawsuits from relatives of those foolish enough to have signed up for this doomsday trip.

Very interesting and unfortunately a preview of things to come when our schools begin graduating pilots, doctors, etc. for the same stupid reason. If things keep going the way they are, "50-year-old white guys from the military" will find it necessary to save this country from itself.

Too bad these young guys built his tomb instead of a sub.
Again, why would you go in an 'experimental vehicle" that goes 6 times deeper than a nuclear submarine?
Sounds suicidal to me.

Think about this....ALL the big companies are doing this crap. They do NOT hire the most competent engineers and designers, they hire based on race and sex. And management spots are reserved for blacks and females....regardless of competence.
US products USED TO be the best because US companies hired only "the best and brightest"....now it's "the blackest and most female" regardless of competence.

I know the "Videographer" for the company was a 22-year-old white girl. She took the last video of the sub on the surface.

Well they are out of air now. Unless the CEO went Donnor Party on them and knocked off everyone else from the first day. In that case he has many days left. Never trust a liberal.
