A man who tried to carjack undercover police officers in Kentucky's largest city was fatally shot by a Louisville Metro Police officer, authorities said.
The shooting happened Monday afternoon as two undercover officers were inside a vehicle and trying to catch a suspect in an unrelated investigation when they were approached by a man in his 20s armed with a gun who attempted to carjack them, Interim Police Chief Jackie Gwinn-Villaroel told news outlets.
One of the officers shot the man with his service weapon and both officers provided medical aid, Gwinn-Villaroel said, but the suspect died from his injuries.

Since Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine 16 months ago, India has boosted its economy by purchasing increasing quantities of cheap Russian oil.
Human rights groups and political opponents have accused Modi of stifling dissent and introducing divisive policies that discriminate against Muslims and other minorities. And India’s foreign minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, has espoused a worldview in which there are no allies or friends, only “frenemies.”

LOS ANGELES (AP) — An effort to disbar conservative attorney John Eastman, who devised ways to keep President Donald Trump in the White House after his defeat in the 2020 election, will begin Tuesday in Los Angeles.
Eastman is expected to spend the day testifying before the State Bar of California in a proceeding that could result in him losing his license to practice law in the state. He faces 11 disciplinary charges stemming from his development of a dubious legal strategy that was aimed at helping Trump remain in power by disrupting the counting of state electoral votes.
Two top House committees will be hearing directly from Special Counsel John Durham this week following the release of his scathing report that found the Department of Justice and the FBI had no basis to launch the Trump-Russia probe.
Durham was appointed by then-Attorney General Bill Barr in 2019 to look into misconduct related to 'Crossfire Hurricane', which investigated now-debunked Trump-Russia collusion allegations.
He concluded four years later that the FBI opened the flawed probe 'based on raw, unanalyzed, and uncorroborated intelligence.'
On Tuesday, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) led by Rep. Mike Turner, R-Ohio, is holding a closed-door hearing with Durham.
